Table 3-12

NOTE:
All four fac eplate status LEDs on the DS1 c irc uit p ac k are d ark (not lit) when 
using  an external CSU or DSU/CSU. The STATUS LEDs on the DS1 c irc uit 
p ac k are only func tional with a 120A ICSU.

11. Save op tions Press the b utton under “Activ” when asked  where to save

To install a 400A sync  sp litter between a CSU or DSU/CSU and  a DS1 c irc uit 
p ac k, follow the p roc ed ures listed  in Table 3-13
.

cablePlug the H600-307 cab le into the c onnector on 
the sp litter.
6. Secure the 
sp litterSec ure the splitter to the c arrier using  the larg e 
mounting  strap  removed  from a fib er 
transc eiver.
7. Check 
c onnectionsCheck that all Amphenol c onnections are 
secure.
8. Release DS1 
circuit packrelease b oard  
UUCSSRestore the d esig nated  DS1 c ircuit p ack to 
service.
9. Test the sp litter Use the p roc edure in ‘‘Splitter port tests 
(401A/401A only)’’ on page 3-19.
nBefore testing  the sp litter, insert a mod ular 
RJ45 plug into jac k J1 and  jac k J2.
NOTE:
Do not connect p ort J1 to port J2. Leave 
the other end of b oth c ord s free, b ec ause 
the modular RJ45 p lug  acts as a op ening  
p lug  and  removes the 100-W termination 
from J1 and J2 p orts. 
nAfter testing  is comp lete, remove the 
op ening  plug s from J1 and  J2.
10. Chec k 
DSU/CSU 
LEDsAfter ab out 20 s, all the alarm LEDs on the 316X 
CSU or DSU/CSU should  go out. 
If this is the c ase, p erform step s 11 throug h 12. 
Otherwise, g o to step 13.

DTE loopback procedure. 
To start the Data Terminal Eq uip ment (DTE) loop b ac k 
at the 316X CSU or DSU/CSU, use the p roc ed ures in Table 3-14
.
11. Chec k for CSU 
alarmsVerify that no alarms are against the CSU (the 
OK, SIG, SIG LEDs are lit).
12. Test the circ uit 
packtest board 
UUCSSVerify that the DS1 c irc uit p ac k p asses Tests 
138 through 145. If these tests p ass and  this is 
a new installation, go to Step  14.
If any one of Test 138 through 145 fails, follow 
the repair p roc ed ures listed  in DEFINITY ECS 
Maintenanc e for R8r.
After c learing  all errors, retest the c irc uit p ac k.
13. Run error 
rep ortlist 
measurements 
ds1 summary 
UUCSSWait 15 minutes. Check the error rep ort and  
verify that the DS1 c irc uit pac k is free of any 
errors. 
To interp ret the period ic list measurements 
rep ort.
14. DTE and  RLB 
loopback tests
(new 
installations)Perform both DTE and  RLB loop bac k test at the 
316X CSU or DSU/CSU to verify that the DS1 
b oard  can succ essfully transmit and  receive a 
DS1 sig nal through the sp litter to the 316X and  
b ac k to the DS1 b oard . 
Go to the ‘‘DTE loopback procedure’’ on page 
3-27 and  ‘‘RLB loopback procedure’’ on page 
3-28

To start the RLB loop b ac k testing  at the 316X CSU or 
DSU/CSU, use the p roc ed ures in Table 3-15
.

Installing 401A, 402A, or 403A splitters 
To install a 401A, 402A, or 403A sync  sp litter b etween the network and  a DS1 
c irc uit p ac k, follow the p roc ed ures listed  in Table 3-16
.

11. Test the sp litter Use the p roc edure in ‘‘Splitter port tests

DS1 LEDsAfter ab out 20 s, all the alarm LEDs on the DS1 
g o out and  the status 3 LED is stead y g reen.
If this is the c ase, c ontinue. If not, follow the DS1 
sp an test p roc edures in the DEFINITY ECS 
Maintenanc e for R8r.
13. Test the circ uit

138 through 146 and  1227. If these tests p ass 
and  this is a new installation, continue.
