    To minimize elec trostatic  d isc harge (ESD), always wear an authorized  wrist 
    g round  strap  when hand ling c irc uit p ac ks or any c omp onents of a 
    DEFINITY System. Connec t the strap  to an ap p roved ground  suc h as an 
    unp ainted  metal surfac e on the DEFINITY ECS switc h.
    Remove/Install Circuit Packs
    !CAUTION:
    The c ontrol c irc uit p ac ks with white lab els c annot b e removed  or installed  
    when the power is on. The port circuit packs with gray labels (older version 
    circuit packs had purple labels) can be removed or installed when the 
    p ower is on.
    Security
    To ensure the g reatest sec urity possible, Luc ent Tec hnolog ies offers servic es that 
    can reduce toll fraud liabilities. Contact your Lucent Technologies representative 
    for more sec urity information.
    Log in sec urity is an attrib ute of the DEFINITY ECS software. Advise c ustomers 
    that their existing  password s exp ire 24 hours after the up g rade. Also exp lain that 
    the new password s must c onform to stric t req uirements.
    System ad ministrators must keep network ad dresses c onfid ential. A PPN or any 
    end p oint masq uerad ing  as a PPN on the ATM network c an seize that EPN and  
    c ontrol it if that EPN is not alread y c onnec ted  to its p rop er PPN.

    Part 68: Answer-Sup ervision Sig naling . Allowing  this eq uip ment to b e op erated in

    violation of Part 68 rules. This equip ment returns answer-sup ervision sig nals to

    Connec tion of this equip ment to the telep hone network is shown in the following  
    tab le.
    If the terminal eq uip ment (DEFINITY
    ® System) c auses harm to the telep hone 
    network, the telep hone c omp any will notify you in ad vanc e that temp orary 
    d isc ontinuanc e of servic e may b e req uired . But if ad vanc e notic e is not prac tic al, 
    the telep hone c omp any will notify the c ustomer as soon as p ossib le. Also, you 
    will be ad vised  of your rig ht to file a c omp laint with the FCC if you b elieve it is 
    nec essary.
    The telep hone c omp any may make c hang es in its fac ilities, eq uip ment, 
    op erations or proc ed ures that c ould  affec t the op eration of the equip ment. If this 
    happens, the telephone c ompany will provide advance notice in order for you to 
    make nec essary mod ific ations to maintain uninterrup ted  servic e.

    The c omp lete DEFINITY ECS translations req uire p rec utover ad ministration, 
    which, in turn, requires a customer address scheme, specific ally the ATM 
    ad d resses for theTN2305/TN2306 ATM interfac e c irc uit pac k(s). The add ress of 
    the EPN is automatic ally read  b y the loc al ATM switc h, using  the add ress 
    reg istration p roc ed ure d efined  in Integ rated  Loc al Manag ement Interfac e (ILMI). 
    If field tec hnic ians d o not have the log in p ermissions req uired  to ob tain the EPN’s 
    ATM ad d ress(es) d irec tly from the ATM switc h(es), the c ustomer or ATM switc h 
    installer must provid e that information.
