Check all c onnections If the LEDs on the DS1 circ uit p ac k indic ate an error c ond ition, or any of the tests assoc iated with testing the DS1 circ uit p ack fails, recheck all cab les, c onnec tors, and the splitter connection to the b ack of the DS1 c irc uit p ac k. 2. Test the circ uit pac k Test the c irc uit pac k (test board UUCSS). If the tests pass, g o to step 14 (release). If a test fails, c ontinue with step 3. Continued on next page

Reseat c ircuit p ack Reseat the DS1 c ircuit p ack. 4. Retest the circuit packRep eat the test (test board UUCSS). If Tests 138 throug h 145 p ass, g o to step 14 (release). If any test fails, go to step 5. 5. Busyout the DS1 circuit packTo supp ress alarms on the DS1 circ uit p ac k, type busyout board UUCSS and press En te r. 6. Remove ICSU Remove the ICSU mod ule from the sp litter. 7. Remove sp litter Remove the sp litter from the DS1 circuit p ac k. 8. Put ICSU d irec tly on DS1 circuit packReconnec t the ICSU mod ule d irec tly to the b ac k of the DS1 c irc uit p ac k (without the splitter) and reseat the DS1 circuit pack. After ap proximately 30 sec ond s the DS1 Status LEDs should exting uish, leaving only the g reen Status 3 LED on steady. 9. Test the circ uit pac k Test the c irc uit pac k (test board UUCSS) and verify that the DS1 c irc uit p ac k p asses Tests 138 throug h 145. If any one of Test 138 throug h 145 fails, follow the repair p roc ed ures listed in DEFINITY ECS Maintenance for R8r. 10. Rep lac e splitter If the tests pass, replace the sp litter onto the b ac k of the DS1 c irc uit p ac k. 11. Reseat the c ircuit packReseat the DS1 c irc uit p ac k and c hec k the Amp henol c onnec tors, making sure they are seated p rop erly. 12. Test the circ uit pac k Test the c irc uit pac k (test board UUCSS) and verify that the DS1 c irc uit p ac k p asses Tests 138 throug h 145. If any one of Test 138 throug h 145 fails, follow the repair p roc ed ures listed in DEFINITY ECS Maintenanc e for R8r or rep lac e the sp litter. 13. Escalate if nec essary If the ICSU tests OK, g o to step 14. If step 12 still fails, esc alate to Tier 3 or rep lace the sp litter. 14. Release the c irc uit packRelease the DS1 circuit p ack (release board UUCSS). 15. Verify ac tive sync hronization sourc eVerify that the d esig nated DS1 circuit p ac k is now the ac tive sync sourc e (status synchronization). Table 6-7. Verify settings If these settings do not ag ree with the DS1 ad ministration (step 1), enter the c orrect setting s and retest. If the test still fails, c ontinue. 9. Inc rease eq ualization setting sIncrease the eq ualization setting s on the CSU or DSU/CSU b y one value. 10. Go throug h read out step sPress the rig ht-arrow b utton until “ Value” d isplays. For examp le, if 0 through 133 disp lays, go to 133 through 266, and so on. 11. Continue Press the d oub le-up arrow. 12. Continue Press the b utton und er the “ Yes” read out when asked to save op tions. 13. If the 316X CSU or DSU/CSU fails the DTE or RLB loop bac k testsRemove the H600-307 DS1 cab le from the sp litter and the splitter from the DS1 c irc uit pac k 16. Remove sp litter Remove the sp litter from the DS1 circuit p ac k 17. Rec onnec t the c ab le Reconnec t the H600-307 c ab le d irectly to the DS1 circ uit pack After ab out 30 s, all the alarm LEDs on the 316X DSU/CSU should go out. If the alarm LEDs on the 316X CSU or DSU/CSU d o not g o out, g o to step 19. 18. Test circ uit pac k Test the DS1 c irc uit p ac k (test board UUCSS). If any one of Test 138 throug h 145 fails, follow the repair p roc ed ures listed in DEFINITY ECS Maintenance for R8r. 19. Check for errors Wait 15 minutes and c heck that the list measurements ds1 summary UUCSS rep ort is free of any errors. Use Table 3-6 to help interp ret the rep ort. 20. Rep lac e the splitter If the alarm LEDs on the 316X are not lit, rep lac e the splitter. If the sp litter has alread y b een rep lac ed , escalate to Tier 3. 21. Test the DS1 c irc uit packIf the alarm LEDs on the 316X exting uish with the new splitter installed , p erform a test board UUCSS and press Enter and verify that the DS1 circuit pac k p asses tests 138 throug h 145. If any one of Test 138 throug h 145 fails, follow the repair p roc ed ures listed in DEFINITY ECS Maintenance for R8r. 22. Chec k error rep ort Wait 15 minutes and p erform a list measurements ds1 summary UUCSS and verify that the DS1 circ uit p ac k is free of errors. Use Table 3-6 to help interp ret the report. 23. Release c irc uit pac k If there are no errors in step 22, release the DS1 c irc uit pack (release board UUCSS). 24. If the alarm LEDs on the 316X fail to go outReseat the DS1 c irc uit p ac k. 25. Physical connections Has the ATM switch been installed and configured correctly? Diagnostics nIs the ATM switc h powered up ? nIf you are ad ministering the ATM switc h throug h a loc ally attac hed c onsole, is there a loc al c onsole terminal c onnec ted to the c onsole p ort on the ATM switc h p roc essor c irc uit p ac k with the c orrec tly p inned RS232 serial c able? nIf you are administering the ATM switc h throug h telnet over the Ethernet, is there an Ethernet d rop p lug g ed into the Ethernet p ort on the ATM switc h p roc essor b oard ? (Note that a few ATM switc h c ommand s are only p ermitted over the loc al c onsole terminal.) 12. Escalate if nec essary If the DS1 circuit p ack tests OK, g o to step 13. If step 11 still fails, esc alate to Tier 3 or rep lace the sp litter. 13. Release the c irc uit packRelease the DS1 circuit p ack (release board UUCSS). 14.
