    10Select Set Default Printer from the Pr in ting menu.
    For Mac OS® X users
    You need to inst all the PS driver using t he following instructions.
    ■If a Brother Native Driver (MFC-XXX) is already listed in 
    Printer list, you will need to delete it and t hen install the PS 
    driver.
    ■To use the PS driver with a USB cable,  you need to set the 
    Emulation to BR-Script3 (
    Menu, 4,1) before 
    connecting the USB cable. (See Setting the Emulation 
    Selection on page 11-17.)
    1Select Applications from the Go menu.
    ■If you use a USB cable and your Macintosh® is “M ac OS® X” , 
    only one printer driver for an MFC can be regist ered in Print 
    Cent er.

    2O pen the Utilities f older.
    3O pen the Print Center icon.
    4Click Add Printer… .

    5Select USB.
    6Select MFC-8820D, and then click Ad d.
    7Select Quit Printer Center from the Pr int  Cent er menu.

    Sending a fax from your Macintosh® 
    application
    For Mac OS® 8.6-9.2 users
    You can send a fax directly from a Macintosh® application by doing 
    the following:
    1Create a document in a Macintosh application.
    2To send a fax, select Print from the File menu.
    The Printer dialog box will appear:
    When Printer is selected, the t op button shows Pr int and the 
    Address button is grayed.
    3From the Output pull-down menu, select Facsimile.
    When Facsimile is selected, the top button changes to Send 
    Fax and the Address button will be available.

    4Click Se nd Fax.
    The Send Fa x dialog box appears:
    The Se nd  F ax dialog box has two list boxes. The left box shows 
    all the previously Stored Fax Numbers and the right box shows 
    the Desti nati on Fax Numbers as you select them.
    5To address the fax, type a fax number in the Input Fa x Number 
    box. 
    6When you are finished addressing your fax, click Send Fax.
    Click OK to go to the Send Fax dialog box.
    To select and only send certain pages of the document, click OK 
    to go to the Print dialog box.
    If you click Sen d Fax without  addressing your fax, the following 
    error message will appear:

    For Mac OS® X users
    You can send a fax directly from a Macintosh® application by doing 
    the following:
    1Create a document in a Macintosh application.
    2To send a fax, select Print from the File menu.
    The Printer dialog box will appear:

    4Select Facsimile from the Output pull-down menu.
    5To address the fax, type a fax number in the Input Fa x 
    Numbers box, and the click Print.
    If you want to send a fax t o more than one number, click Add 
    aft er entering the first fax number. The destination fax numbers 
    will be listed in the dialog box.

    Drag a vCard from the Mac OS® X Address Book 
    application
    1Click Address Book button.
    2Drag a vCard from the Mac OS® X Address Book application 
    t o the Destination Fax Numbers filed.
    When you are finished addressing your fax, click Print.
    The vCard used must contain a work fax or home fax number.

    When you choose work fax or home  fax from the Stored Fax 
    Numbers pull-down list,  only the fax number stored in the 
    Mac OS
    ® X Address Book for the selected category will be 
    used. If the fax number is stored in only one of the Mac OS® X 
    Address Book cat egories, the number will be retrieved no matter 
    which category you have selected (work or home).

    Using the Brother TWAIN scanner 
    driver with your Macintosh
    ® 
    The Brother MFC software includes a TWAIN Scanner driver for 
    Macintosh®. You can use this Macintosh® TWAIN Scanner driver 
    with any applicat ions that support the TWAIN specifications.
    Accessing the scanner
    Run your Macintosh® TWAIN-compliant application software. The 
    first  time you use the Brother TWAIN driver (MFL Pro/P2500), set it 
    as the default  by choosing Select Source (or the ot her menu name 
    to select the device). Af terwards, for each document you scan 
    choose Acquire Image or Scan. The scanner setup dialog box will 
    appear.
    Mac OS® X Scanning is supported in Mac OS® X 10.2.1 or 
    great er.
    The screen shown in this section are from Mac OS® 9. The 
    screen on your Macintosh® may vary depending on your 
    O perating System.
    The method of selecting the source or choosing t o scan may 
    vary depending on the application soft ware you are using.
