    Checking job status
    Check which jobs are st ill waiting in the memory to be sent. (If there 
    are no jobs, the LCD shows No Jobs Waiting.) 
    1Press Menu, 2, 6.
    2I f you have more than one job 
    wait ing, press   or   to 
    scroll through t he list.
    3Press Stop/Exit.
    Canceling a job while scanning the original
    You can cancel a job while you are scanning it into memory by 
    pressing 
    Stop/Exit.
    Canceling a scheduled job
    You can cancel a fax job that is stored and waiting in memory. (See 
    Checking job status on page 6-11. )
    1Press Menu, 2, 6. 
    Any jobs that are waiting will 
    appear on the LCD.
    2I f you have more than two jobs 
    wait ing, press   or   to 
    select the job you want to cancel.
    Press 
    Set.
    —OR—
    I f you only have one job waiting, go to Step 3.
    3Press 1 to cancel.
    —OR—
    Press 
    2 to exit without  canceling.
    To cancel another job go t o Step 2.
    4Press Stop/Exit.

    Advanced sending operations
    Composing the electronic Cover Page
    The Cover Page is created at  the receiving machine. Your Cover 
    Page includes the name stored in the One-Touch or Speed-Dial 
    memory. If  you’re dialing manually, the name is left blank.
    The Cover Page shows your Station ID and t he number of pages 
    you’re sending. (See Setting the Station ID on page 4-2.) If you have 
    Cover Page set to ON (
    Menu, 2, 2, 7), the number of  pages is left 
    blank. 
    You can select a comment to include on your Cover Page.

    Instead of using one of the preset comments, you can enter two 
    personal messages of your own, up to 27 characters long. Use the 
    chart on page 4-3 for help entering characters.

    Most of the Setup Send settings are temporary to allow you t o 
    make changes for each fax you send. However, when you set up 
    your Cover Page and Cover Page Comment s, you are changing t he 
    default settings so they will be available while faxing.

    Composing your own comments
    You can set up two comments of your own.
    1I f it is not illuminated in green, press   (Fa x).
    2Press Menu, 2, 2, 8.
    3Press   or   to choose 5 or 
    6 for your own comment.
    Press 
    Set.
    4Use the dial pad to enter your 
    customized comment. 
    Press 
    Set.
    (See Entering text on page 4-3.)
    5Press 1 if you want to choose more settings and t he LCD will 
    return to the Setup Send menu

    Press 2 to exit.

    Cover page for the next fax only
    This f eature does not work without the Station ID. So make sure it  
    has been set . (See Setting the Stat ion ID on page 4-2.) If you only 
    want to send a Cover Page with a particular fax, t his Cover Page will 
    include t he number of pages in your original.
    1If it is not illuminated in green, press   (Fax). Place the 
    original face up in t he ADF, or face down on the scanner glass.
    2Press Menu, 2, 2, 7.
    3When LCD shows Next Fax 
    Only.
    Press 
    Set.
    4Press   or   to select Next Fax:On (or Next 
    Fax:
    Off). 
    Press 
    Set.
    5Press   or   to select one of  the standard or your own 
    comments.
    Press 
    Set.
    6Enter two digits t o show the number of pages you are sending.
    Press

    (For example, press 
    0, 2 for 2 pages or enter 0 0 to leave the 
    number of pages blank. If you make a mistake, press    to back 
    up and re-enter t he number of pages.)
    7Press 1 if you want to choose more settings and the LCD will 
    return to the Setup Send menu

    8Enter the f ax number you’re calling.
    9Press Start.

    Send a cover page for all faxes
    This feature does not  work without the Stat ion ID. Please be sure it 
    has been set before continuing. (See Setting the Station ID on page 
    4-2.)
    You can set the MFC to send a cover page whenever you send a fax. 
    The number of pages in your fax is not included when you use this 
    setting.
    1I f it is not illuminated in green, press   (Fa x).
    2Press Menu, 2, 2, 7.
    3Press   or   to select On.
    Press 
    Set.
    4I f you selected On, Press   or 
     to select  one of the st andard or your own comments.
    Press 
    Set.
    5Press 1 if you want to choose more settings and t he LCD will 
    return to the Setup Send menu

    Using a printed cover page
    If you prefer t o use a print ed cover page that  you can write on, you 
    can print the sample page and attach it to your fax.
    1I f it is not illuminated in green, press   (Fa x).
    2Press Menu, 2, 2, 7.
    3Press   or   to select 
    Print Sample.
    Press 
    Set.
    4Press Start. Your MFC prints a 
    copy of your cover page.
    5Press Stop/Exit.

    Broadcasting
    Broadcasting is when the same fax message is automatically sent to 
    more than one fax number.  Using the 
    Set key, you can include 
    Groups, One-Touch, Speed-Dial numbers and up to 50 manually 
    dialed numbers. I f you did not use up any of the numbers for Groups, 
    access codes or credit card numbers, you can ‘broadcast’ faxes to 
    as many as 390 different numbers. However, the available memory 
    will vary depending on the types of jobs in the memory and t he 
    number of locations used for broadcast ing. If you broadcast to the 
    maximum numbers available, you will not be able to use Dual Access 
    and Delayed fax.
    To include One-Touch or Speed-Dial numbers and manually dialed 
    numbers in the same broadcast, you must press 
    Set between each 
    of the numbers. Use 
    Search/Speed Dial to help you choose the 
    numbers easily. 
    (See Setting up Groups for Broadcasting on page 7-4.)
    Af ter the broadcast is finished, a Broadcast  Report will be printed to 
    let you know the results.
    ■Enter the long dialing sequence numbers as you would normally, 
    but remember that each One-Touch and Speed-Dial number 
    count s as one number, so t he number of locat ions you can store 
    becomes limited.
    ■If the memory is full, press 
    Stop/Exit t o stop t he job or if more 
    than one page has been scanned, press 
    Start to send the 
    portion that is in the memory.
    1If it is not illuminated in green, press   (Fax). Place the 
    original face up in t he ADF, or face down on the scanner glass.
    2Enter a number using One-Touch, Speed-Dial, a Group 
    number, Search or manual dialing using the dial pad.
    (Example: Group number)
    3When t he LCD displays the fax number of  t he other party, press 
    Set.
    You will be asked to press the next number.

    4Enter the next number.
    (Example: Speed-Dial number)
    5When the LCD displays t he fax number of the ot her party, press 
    Set.
    6Enter another fax number.
    (Example: Manual dialing using the dial pad. )
    7Press Start.
    I f you are using the scanner glass, go to Step 8.
    8To send a single page,
    press 
    2 (or press Start again).
    The MFC starts sending the fax.
    —OR—
    To send more than one page, press 
    1 and go t o Step 9.
    9Place the next page on the scanner glass.
    Press 
    Set.
    The MFC starts scanning and returns to Step 8. (Repeat Step 8 
    and 9 for each additional page).

    Overseas Mode
    If you are having dif ficulty sending a fax overseas due to possible 
    interference on t he phone line,  we recommend that you turn on the 
    Overseas Mode. Af ter you send a fax using this feature, the feature 
    will turn itself off.
    1If it is not illuminated in green, press   (Fax). Place the 
    original face up in t he ADF, or face down on the scanner glass.
    2Press Menu, 2, 2, 9.
    3Press   or   to select On (or 
    Off).
    Press 
    Set.
    4Press 1 if you want  to choose more 
    settings and the LCD will return to the Setup Send menu.
    —OR—
    Press 
    2 if you have finished choosing sett ings, and then go to 
    Step 5
    5Enter the f ax number you’re calling.
    6Press Start.
    If you are using t he scanner glass, go t o Step 7.
    7To send a single page,
    press 
    2 (or press Start again).
    The MFC start s sending the fax.
    —OR—
    To send more than one page, press 
    1 and go to Step 8.
    8Place the next page on the scanner glass.
    Press 
    Set.
    The MFC starts scanning and returns to St ep 7. (Repeat Steps 7 and 
    8 for each additional page).

    Delayed Fax
    During the day you can st ore up to 50 faxes in the memory to be sent 
    within 24 hours. These faxes will be sent at the time of  day you enter 
    in Step 3. Press 
    Set to accept it, or enter another time for the faxes 
    to be sent.
    1I f it is not illuminated in green, press   (Fa x). Place t he 
    original f ace up in the ADF,  or face down on the scanner glass.
    2Press Menu, 2, 2, 3.
    3Enter the time you want the fax to 
    be sent  (in 24-hour format).
    Press 
    Set.
    (For example, enter 19:45 f or 
    7:45 PM.)
    4Press 1 if you want to choose more settings and t he LCD will 
    return to the Setup Send menu.
    —OR—
    Press 2 if  you have f ini shed c hoosing s et ti ngs , and t hen go t o St ep 5.  
    5Enter the fax number. 
    6Press Start.
    I f you are using the scanner glass, go to Step 7.
    7To send a single page, press 2 (or press Start again).
    The MFC starts scanning the fax.
    —OR—
    To send more than one page, press 
    1 and go t o Step 8.
    8Place the next page on the scanner glass.
    Press 
    Set.
    The MFC starts scanning and returns to Step 7. (Repeat Step 7 
    and 8 for each additional page).
    The number of pages you can scan into the memory depends 
    on the amount of data that is printed on each page.

    Delayed Batch Transmission
    Before sending the delayed faxes, your MFC will help you economize 
    by sorting all t he faxes in the memory by destination and scheduled 
    time. All delayed faxes that are scheduled to be sent at  the same 
    time to the same fax number will be sent as one fax to save 
    transmission time.
    1If it is not illuminated in green, press   (Fax). 
    2Press Menu, 2, 2, 4.
    3Press   or   to select On (or 
    Off).
    Press 
    Set.
    4Press Stop/Exit.
