Shipping, Receiving, And Installation Information 2.04 The maximum ports available for each configuration are: Bays I,2 144 voice/data ports Bays 1,2,3 240 voice/data ports Bays 1.2.3.4 336 voice/data ports 2.05 Both configurations are compatible with most existing station, key telephone, private branch exchange, and central office equipment, and provide: - use of a flexible numbering plan - simultaneous use of DTMF and rotary dial stations - optional use of attendant consoles - extensive selection of standard and optional features - data port facility for traffic analysis and other requirements - automatic diagnostics - six to 36 power fail transfer trunks - max 18 PFT (336 ports) - max 24 PFT (480 ports) - optional reserve power supply or uninterruptible power supply - SUPERSET 3TM set - SUPERSET qTM set. Control Cabinet 2.06 The SX-200@ DIGITAL PABX Control cabinet consists of a metal frame enclosed by back, top, and side panels. The digital Con- trol shelf in the lower position has two Bays; Bay 1 is on the left, and Bay 2 on the right. Access to the Bays is through the front door of the cabinet. The rear panel allows access to line, trunk, and PCM cable entries. Figure 2-3 shows an SX-200@ DIGITAL PABX Universal Control Cabinet; Figure 2-4 shows an SX-200* DIGITAL PABX in a Universal Control Cabinet. Universal Cabinet 2.07 The Universal cabinet is similar to the existing Control cabinet. The major differences are: its maintenance panel is located immediately above the digital Control shelf, its Floppy Disk Drive plugs directly into the backplane, it can have a digital Peripheral shelf, and its Main Control Card directly controls up to three 6-circuit Power Fail Transfer cards. Figure 2-5 shows an SX-200@ DIGITAL PABX Universal Control Cabinet with Digital Peripheral Shelf. Single Cabinet System 2.08 The Control cabinet contains a digital Control shelf in the lower position and a maintenance panel at the top of the cabinet. The Control shelf has Bay 1 on the left and Bay 2 on the right. The PABX can be expanded by adding a 120-port shelf (Bay 3), which contains Page 2-2
Shipping, Receiving, And installation Information three control cards and up to 15 voice cards, above the Control shelf. A standard SX-200@ power supply is also installed concurrently, re- placing the rear door of the cabinet. The SX-200@ PABX in the Universal cabinet is similar, but can be expanded by installing either an analog peripheral shelf or a digital peripheral shelf in the upper shelf. If an analog shelf (120-port) is installed (Generics 1000 and IOOl), a Peripheral cabinet may also be connected, adding an additional 216 ports to the PABX. If a digital shelf (2 x 96 ports) is installed (Generic IOOl), Bays 3 and 4 are each similar to Bay 1, except with the addition of Bay Control card. Peripheral Cabinet 2.09 The Peripheral cabinet (shown in Figure 2-6) is an SX-200@ cabinet with one or two shelves (Bays) equipped with Control cards and Peripheral cards. 480-Port Configuration 2.10 The 480-port configuration can be equipped as follows: Bay Control Card(s) Optional Peripheral Cards 1 BPS ONS, LS/GS, Universal, COV, DID, OPS (up to 08) 2 MCC, BPS, FDD ONS, LWGS, Universal, COV, DID, OPS (up to 04) 3 DIC, PCC, Scanner CO Trk, Line, SUPERSET, E&M Trk, DID/Tie (up to 15) 4 DIC, PCC, Scanner CO Trk, Line, SUPERSET, E&M Trk, DID/Tie (up to 15) 5 DIC CO Trk, Line, SUPERSET, E&M Trk, DID/Tie (up to 12) Note: Each bay in use must have all its Control cards present. Shipping, Receiving, And Installation information Printed Circuit Cards 2.12 All printed circuit cards are packed separately and sent in ship- ping cartons, five or 10 to a carton. CAUTION: Always wear an antistatic wrist strap when handling cards. Handle printed circuit cards by their edges only. Handling the board faces or components may cause damage. Do not touch the gold edge connectors. Each peripheral bay card has two card extractors which enable the card to be easily removed. Control shelf cards have only one extractor per card. In the closed position, the card extractors ensure that the circuit cards are held firmly in position. Cards which must not be removed or inserted while the system power is on, carry a Caution notice. Control Shelf 2.13 Main Control Card. The Main Control Card (MCC) is located in the Control shelf between Bay 1 and Bay 2, and provides overall control of PABX operation. It has a digital interface, through the back- plane to the cards in the Control shelf, and through the PCM cable to the Digital Interface Cards in each Peripheral shelf. In addition, the MCC holds the Decryption module which is associated with the soft- ware (each diskette release, of system software has its own unique Decryption module). Whenever the system software release is changed, the Decryption module must also be changed. The MCC also contains alarm LEDs, RESET switch, and other system indicators. Figure 2-7 shows the MCC and the Decryption module. The dimensions of this card are as follows: 325.8 mm (12.825 inches) high and 358.8 mm (14.125 inches) wide. Two card extractors are mounted at top and bottom of the front edge of the card. When the extractors are in the locked position, the MCC is firmly seated in three DIN connectors on the backplane at the rear of the shelf. 2.14 Control Shelf Circuit Cards. The circuit cards in the Control shelf, other than the MCC, measure 157.5 mm (6.2 inches) high and 366.4 mm (14.425 inches) wide. 2.15 Universal Card. A Universal card can plug into any of the upper peripheral slots in a digital shelf. The card is capable of carrying four plug-in modules. 2.16 The total power rating allowed per universal card is 10. Up to four modules (as long as the total power rating is 10 or less) may be mounted on a universal card. 2.17 Four types of modules are available that can be plugged into the Universal card. These are: 0 DTMP Receiver/Relay Module - Has four Dual-Tone Multi- Frequency (DTMF) receiver circuits and two relays. The relays Page 2-l 1
