2 - 27 Chapter 2 Operation of Diagnostic Epson AcuLaser C2900NRevision B Confidential Tray2 Feeder Motor (DO-17/18/19/1a)NOTE: This procedure is for the technical staff. 1) Remove the Tray 2. 2) Remove the COVER REAR OPT and COVER SIDE L OPT. 3) Power on the printer, and enter the Diag Mode. 4) Execute DO-17. 5) Check that the Tray 2 Feed Motor rotates. 6) Press the STOP key to stop the clutch. 7) Replace the COVER REAR OPT and COVER SIDE L OPT. 8) Replace the Tray 2. 2 - 28 Chapter 2 Operation of Diagnostic Epson AcuLaser C2900NRevision B Confidential Yellow Toner Motor / Magenta Toner Motor / Cyan Toner Motor / Black Toner Motor (DO-21/23/25/27)NOTE: These procedures are for the technical staff. Described below is the check procedure common among the four toner motor. Note the operation for the toner in the drum cartridge spills if the motor is rotated for a long time. 1) Power on the printer, and enter the Diag Mode. 2) Open the Toner Access Cover and remove the toner cartridge. 3) Execute DO-21, 23, 25 or 27. 4) Check that the Gear rotates. 5) Press the STOP key to stop the clutch. 6) Replace the toner cartridge and close the Toner Access Cover. Regi Clutch (DO-29)NOTE: This procedure is for the technical staff. When performing operation for five minutes or longer with the front cover open, remove the drum cartridge, and cover the drum to avoid exposure to light. Combination test is as follows: The Regi Roll rotates when DO-0 and DO-29 are executed. 1) Power on the printer, and enter the Diag Mode. 2) Open the Front Cover. 3) Cheat the Safety Interlock System. 4) Execute DO-0 and DO-29. 5) Check that the Regi Roll rotates. 6) Press the STOP key to stop the clutch. 7) Press the T key to display DO-0. 8) Press the STOP key to stop the motor. 9) Remove the cheater. 10) Close the Front Cover. When performing operation for five minutes or longer with the front cover open, remove the drum cartridge, and cover the drum to avoid exposure to light. 1) Remove the COVER SIDE L. 2) Power on the printer, and enter the Diag Mode. 3) Cheat the Safety Interlock System. 4) Execute DO-2f. 5) Check that the Feed Solenoid movement. 6) Press the STOP key to stop the test. 7) Remove the cheater. 8) Replace the COVER SIDE L. Combination test is as follows: Tray 2 turn roll rotates when DO-17 and DO-33 are executed. 1) Remove the COVER CHUTE. 2) Power on the printer, and enter the Diag Mode. 3) Remove the Tray 1 and Tray 2. 4) Execute DO-17 and DO-33. 5) Check that the Turn Roll rotates. 6) Press the STOP key to stop the clutch. 7) Press the T key to display DO-17. 8) Press the STOP key to stop the motor. 9) Replace the COVER CHUTE, Tray 1 and Tray 2. When performing operation for five minutes or longer with the front cover open, remove the drum cartridge, and cover the drum to avoid exposure to light. 1) Power on the printer, and enter the Diag Mode. 2) Open the Front Cover. 3) Remove the drum cartridge. 4) Cheat the Safety Interlock System. 5) Execute DO-3d. 6) Check that the ERASE LAMP (Black) illuminates. 7) Press the STOP key to stop the test. 8) Replace the drum cartridge. 9) Remove the cheater. 10) Close the Front Cover. Perform only the following menu operations. -SaveNVM to ESS Saves the internal data of PWBA MCU to PWBA ESS temporarily when PWBA MCU needs to be replaced due to a trouble, etc. -LoadNVM to ESS Loads the internal data saved via [SaveNVM to ESS] to the new PWBA MCU.
2 - 34 Chapter 2 Operation of Diagnostic Epson AcuLaser C2900NRevision B Confidential 4.3 Print Info Prints out the detailed printer settings and configuration information. 4.3.1 Executing Print Info 1) Power off the printer. 2) Power on the printer while pressing S and T keys. 3) Release the fingers from these keys when the CE Mode and Password is displayed. 4) Press T key twice and press OK key. 5) The CE Mode and ESS Diag are displayed. (Entered the Diag. mode.) 6) Press T key to select Print Info, and then press OK key. 7) Press S or T key to select an item from Print Info. 8) Press OK key twice to execute the process. - To exit the test or to return to one step higher menu, press the STOP key. - A test is not performed when an obstacle is in IOT. 4.3.2 Info Page The version of software of IOT and the printer configuration can be confirmed by executing this test. 4.3.3 Print Settings The service tag, printing count value and error count value can be confirmed by executing this test.
2 - 35 Chapter 2 Operation of Diagnostic Epson AcuLaser C2900NRevision B Confidential 4.4 Installation Set Displays values on the counters of the printer and sets. 4.4.1 Executing Installation Set 1) Turn off the power. 2) Turn on the power while holding down S and T keys. 3) Release the fingers from these keys when the CE Mode and Password is displayed. 4) Press T key twice and press OK key. 5) The CE Mode and ESS Diag are displayed. (Entered the Diag. mode.) 6) Press T to select “Installation Set”, and then press OK key. 7) Press S and T key to select the item. 8) Press OK key twice to execute the setting. If paper jam or paper empty occurs during the print, the test waits until they are resolved. 4.5.1 Executing Test Print 1) Power off the printer. 2) Power on the printer while pressing S and T keys. 3) Release the fingers from these keys when the CE Mode and Password is displayed. 4) Press T key twice and press OK key. 5) The CE Mode and ESS Diag are displayed. (Entered the Diag. mode.) 6) Press T key to select Test Print, and then press OK key. 7) Press S or T key to select an item from Test Print. 8) Press OK key twice to execute the process. - To exit the test or to return to one step higher menu, press the STOP key. - A test is not performed when an obstacle is in IOT. 4.5.2 No Image IOT Prints the blanked paper. 4.5.3 Pattern IOT Prints the IOT built-in 600dpi pattern. When a PQ problem occurs, this test isolates the problem to the print process or PWBA ESS by com- paring the print with the sample chart. Check result: NG (Check the print process.)
