    							Forwarding Scanned Data to Shared Folder on the Computer Using
    the Operation Panel of the Machine
    Before forwarding scanned data on the shared folder on the computer, confirm the following:•
    MP Drivers and Canon Quick Toolbox are installed.
    If MP Drivers and Canon Quick Toolbox are not yet installed, install them with the Setup CD-ROM or install them from our website.
    •
    The machine is connected to a computer via a LAN correctly.
    •
    The destination folder is specified in Canon Quick Toolbox.
    You can specify the destination folder in Canon Quick Toolbox. For details on settings of Canon Quick
    Toolbox:
    Destination Folder Settings
    Follow the procedure below to forward scanned data to the shared folder on the computer.
    1.
    Make sure that the machine is turned on.
    2.
    Flick the HOME screen, then tap   Scan .
    Using the Operation Panel
    The screen for selecting to which you save the data is displayed.
    3.
    Tap   Destination folder .
    Note
    •
    When the message informing you that the operation restriction is enabled, ask the administrator of
    the machine you are using.

    Tap the folder to save scanned data on the  Select folder screen.

    							Note•
    When you specify a PIN code for a registered folder, a screen asking you to enter a PIN code isdisplayed. Entering the PIN code allows you to assign the shared folder as the destination.
    5.
    Specify the settings as necessary.
    A.
    Tap to select the document type.
    Document Scans the original on the platen glass or in the ADF as a document data applying the settings
    specified in  Scan settings .
    Photo Scans the original on the platen glass as a photo data applying the settings specified in  Scan
    settings .

    Tap to display  Scan settings screen.

    Tap to register the current scan settings as a custom setting.

    Tap to display the screen to select the destination.
    6.
    Load the original document on the platen glass or in the ADF.
    7.
    Press the  Color button for color scanning, or the  Black button for black & white scanning.
    Note
    •
    If the original is not loaded properly, a message is displayed on the touch screen. Load the
    original on the platen glass or in the ADF according to the scan settings.
    •
    If you select ON for Preview on the scan setting screen:
    The preview screen is displayed before forwarding the scanned original to the shared folder on the computer.

    The preview screen of the scanning data is displayed.
    B.
    Tap to rotate the preview screen.Displayed when you select  PDF or Compact PDF  for Format  on the scan setting screen.
    C.
    Tap to forward the scanned original to the shared folder on the computer.
    D.
    Tap to rescan the original.

    If you load the original in the ADF:
    The machine starts scanning and scanned data is forwarded to the shared folder of the computer.
    •
    If you load the original on the platen glass:
    ◦
    When you select  JPEG for Format  on the scan setting screen, the machine starts scanning
    and scanned data is saved on the shared folder of the computer.
    ◦
    When you select  PDF or Compact PDF  for Format  on the scan setting screen, the
    confirmation screen asking you if you continue scanning is displayed after scanning is
    complete.
    If you continue scanning, load the original on the platen glass and start scanning.
    If you do not continue scanning, tap  End. The scanned data is forwarded to the shared folder on
    the computer in one PDF file.
    Scanned data is forwarded to the shared folder on the computer according to the settings specified in Canon Quick Toolbox.
    Remove the original on the platen glass or from the document output slot after scanning is complete.

    							Deleting Scanned Data on USB Flash DriveYou can delete scanned data on the USB flash drive using the operation panel.1.
    Make sure that the machine is turned on.
    2.
    Flick the HOME screen, then tap   Scan .
    Using the Operation Panel
    The screen for selecting to which you save the data is displayed.
    3.
    Insert the USB flash drive into the USB flash drive port.
    4.
    Tap   USB flash drive .
    Note
    •
    When the message informing you that the operation restriction is enabled, ask the administrator of
    the machine you are using.

    Tap   Delete saved data .
    The file list is displayed.
    6.
    Select the data to delete.

    Flick to display the file name, then tap to delete the data. When the format for PDF data is selected, only the first page of the PDF data is displayed on the touch screen.

    							Setting Items for Scanning Using the Operation Panel of the
    Machine
    You can change the scan settings such as the scan size, resolution, or data format.When the Scan standby screen is displayed, tap  Settings to select the setting item. Flick to display setting
    items, then tap the setting item to display the settings. Tap to specify the setting.
    Note
    •
    When you forward the scanned data to the computer using WSD (one of the network protocols
    supported in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, and Windows Vista), you cannot specify the scan
    setting.
    •
    Depending on the destination, some setting items cannot be selected. This section describes the setting items when you select  USB flash drive on the screen for selecting to which you save the data.
    The setting item which cannot be selected is displayed grayed out.
    •
    Some settings cannot be specified in combination with the setting of other setting item, the document type selected for  Doc.type, or the scan menu on the screen for selecting to which you save the data. If
    the setting which cannot be specified in combination is selected, 
     and  Error details  are displayed on
    the touch screen. In this case, tap 
     on the upper left on the touch screen to confirm the message,
    then change the setting.
    •
    The specified scan settings other than  ADF orientation and ADF duplex scan  such as the scan size,
    resolution, and data format are retained even if the machine is turned off.
    •
    When scanning starts in the scan menu that is not available with the specified setting,  The specified
    function is not available with current settings.  is displayed on the touch screen. Change the setting,
    following the on-screen instructions.
    •
    When you forward the scanned data to the computer or attach the data to an e-mail, you can specify the destination and file name using Canon IJ Scan Utility.

    If you scan originals from the computer, you can scan with advanced settings. For details on scanning
    from the computer:

    Scan sizeSelect the size of the original.
    2.
    FormatSelect the data format of the scanned data.
    3.
    Scan res  (Scan resolution)
    Select the resolution for scanning.
    4.
    Preview
    Select to preview the scanned data or not when saving the data on a USB flash drive.
    5.
    ADF orientation
    Select the orientation of the original document.
    This setting item is not available when  Photo is selected for  Doc.type.
    6.
    ADF duplex scan
    Select the scanning method when using ADF. When you select  Duplex, tap Advanced  to select the
    stapling side.
    This setting item is not available when  Photo is selected for  Doc.type.
    7.
    Reduce show-thru  (Reducing show-through)
    Characters on the back may show through when scanning a thin document such as a newspaper. Select ON  if characters seem to show through on the scanned document.
    This setting item is not available when  Photo is selected for  Doc.type.

    							8.DescreenA printout consists of minute dots to make characters or graphs. Interfering with each dot may result in
    uneven shades or a striped pattern. Select  ON if you notice any uneven shades or a striped pattern on
    the scanned image.
    This setting item is not available when  Photo is selected for  Doc.type.
    Note
    •
    Even if ON is selected for this setting, some moire effects may remain if  Unsharp mask is set to
    ON . In that case, select  OFF for Unsharp mask .
    9.
    Unsharp mask
    The outline of small characters or thin objects such as a hair or leaves on a photo can be accentuated.
    Select  ON if you want to accentuate the outline of the scanned data.

    							Network Scan SettingsYou can connect your scanner or printer to a network to share it among multiple computers or scan images
    into a specified computer.
    Important
    •
    Multiple users cannot scan at the same time.
    Note
    •
    Complete the network settings of your scanner or printer beforehand from the Setup CD-ROM or by following the instructions on the web page.
    •
    With network connection, scanning takes longer than USB connection.
    Complete the following settings to enable scanning over a network.
    Specifying Your Scanner or Printer
    Use IJ Network Scanner Selector EX to specify the scanner you want to use. By specifying the scanner, you can scan over a network from your computer or the operation panel.
    Important
    •
    If the product you want to use is changed with IJ Network Scanner Selector EX, the product used forscanning with IJ Scan Utility changes as well. The product for scanning from the operation panel also
    changes.
    If your scanner or printer is not selected in IJ Scan Utility, check that it is selected with IJ Network
    Scanner Selector EX.
    Refer to "IJ Network Scanner Selector EX Menu and Setting Screen" for your model from Home of the  Online Manual  for details.
    •
    To scan from the operation panel, specify your scanner or printer with IJ Network Scanner Selector
    EX beforehand.
    1.
    Check that IJ Network Scanner Selector EX is running.
    If IJ Network Scanner Selector EX is running, 
     (IJ Network Scanner Selector EX) appears in the
    notification area on the desktop. Click 
     to check the hidden icons as well.
    Note
    •
    If the icon is not displayed in the notification area on the desktop, follow the procedure below to
    start.
    •
    Windows 8.1 / Windows 8:
    Click  IJ Network Scanner Selector EX  on the Start screen.
    If  IJ Network Scanner Selector EX  is not displayed on the Start screen, select the  Search
    charm, then search for "IJ Network Scanner Selector EX".
    •
    Windows 7/Windows Vista/Windows XP:
    From the  Start menu, click  All Programs  > Canon Utilities  > IJ Network Scanner
    Selector EX  > IJ Network Scanner Selector EX .

    							The icon appears in the notification area on the desktop, and the Scan-from-PC Settings screenappears. In that case, skip ahead to Step 3.2.
    In the notification area on the desktop, right-click  (IJ Network Scanner Selector EX),
    then select  Settings....
    The Scan-from-PC Settings screen appears.
    3.
    Select your scanner or printer from  Scanners.
    Normally, the MAC address of your scanner or printer is already selected after the network setup. In
    that case, you do not need to select it again.
    Important
    •
    If multiple scanners exist on the network, multiple model names appear. In that case, you can
    select one scanner per model.
    4.
    Click  OK.
    Note
    •
    The scanner selected in the Scan-from-PC Settings screen will be automatically selected in the Scan-
    from-Operation-Panel Settings screen as well.
    Setting for Scanning with IJ Scan Utility To scan from IJ Scan Utility using a scanner or printer connected to a network, specify your scanner orprinter with IJ Network Scanner Selector EX, then follow the steps below to change the connection status
    between it and the computer.
    1.
    Start IJ Scan Utility.
    2.
    Select "Canon XXX series Network" (where "XXX" is the model name) for  Product
    Name .
    Note
    •
    For USB connection, select "Canon XXX series" (where "XXX" is the model name) for  Product
    Name .
    3.
    Click  Settings...  to use another scanner connected to a network.
    4.
    Click  (General Settings), then click  Select in Product Name .
    The Scan-from-PC Settings screen of IJ Network Scanner Selector EX appears.
    Select the scanner you want to use and click  OK.
    5.
    In the  Settings (General Settings)  dialog box, click OK.
    The IJ Scan Utility main screen reappears. You can scan via a network connection.
