    							Cleaning the Exterior of the MachineBe sure to use a soft and dry cloth such as eyeglasses cleaning cloth and wipe off dirt on the surface gently.Smooth out wrinkles on the cloth if necessary before cleaning.
    Important
    •
    Be sure to turn off the power and unplug the power cord before cleaning the machine.
    •
    The power cannot be turned off while the machine is sending or receiving a fax, or when unsentfaxes are stored in the machine's memory. Make sure if the machine completed sending or
    receiving all the faxes before unplugging the power cord.
    •
    The machine cannot send or receive faxes when the power is turned off.
    •
    If the power cord is unplugged, all documents stored in the machine's memory will be lost. Send or
    print a necessary document, or save it on a USB flash drive before unplugging the power cord.
    •
    Do not use tissue paper, paper towels, rough-textured cloth, or similar materials for cleaning so as not to scratch the surface. Paper tissue powder or fine threads may remain inside the machine and cause problems such as print head blockage and poor printing results.
    •
    Never use volatile liquids such as thinners, benzene, acetone, or any other chemical cleaner to cleanthe machine, as this may cause a malfunction or damage the surface of the machine.
    •
    When cleaning the touch screen, be sure to use a soft cloth, such as eyeglasses cleaning cloth, to wipe
    off dirt on the surface. Do not apply excessive pressure. Never use cleaners containing organic
    solvents to wipe the touch screen.

    							Cleaning the Platen Glass and Document Cover
    Important
    •
    Be sure to turn off the power and unplug the power cord before cleaning the machine.
    •
    The power cannot be turned off while the machine is sending or receiving a fax, or when unsentfaxes are stored in the machine's memory. Make sure if the machine completed sending or
    receiving all the faxes before unplugging the power cord.
    •
    The machine cannot send or receive faxes when the power is turned off.
    •
    If the power cord is unplugged, all documents stored in the machine's memory will be lost. Send or
    print a necessary document, or save it on a USB flash drive before unplugging the power cord.
    •

    Use a soft, clean, lint-free and dry cloth.
    Wipe away smudges and dust on the inner glass surfaces of the platen glass and the document cover (A, B,
    and C), and on the white parts that touch them (D, E, and F). Make sure not to leave any residue, especially
    on the glass surfaces.
    Important
    •
    The inner side of the document cover (white sheet) (D) is easily damaged, so wipe it gently.
    •
    Glue, ink, correction fluid, or other substances on the ADF glass (B and C in the above figure) will cause black streaks on scanned images. If there is any on the glass, gently wipe it off.

    Open the document tray.
    2.
    Open the document feeder cover.
    3.
    With the clean cloth, wipe off any paper dust from the inside of the document feeder cover
    (A).

    After wiping, close the document feeder cover by pushing it until it clicks into place.

    Close the document tray.

    							Cleaning the Paper Feed RollerIf the paper feed roller is dirty or paper powder is attached to it, paper may not be fed properly.
    In this case, clean the paper feed roller. Cleaning will wear out the paper feed roller, so perform this only
    when necessary.
    You need to prepare: three sheets of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper1.
    Make sure that the power is turned on.
    2.
    Flick the HOME screen, then tap   Setup .
    Using the Operation Panel
    The setup menu screen will appear.
    3.
    Tap   Maintenance .
    The  Maintenance  screen will appear.
    4.
    Tap Roller cleaning .
    The confirmation screen will appear.
    5.
    Tap Yes.
    6.
    Tap the paper source to clean ( Cassette 1 or Cassette 2 ).
    7.
    Follow the message to remove any paper from the paper source you selected in step 6.
    8.
    Tap OK.
    The paper feed roller will rotate as it is cleaned.
    9.
    Make sure that the paper feed roller has stopped rotating, then follow the message to load
    three sheets of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the paper source you selected in step 6.
    10.
    Extend the output tray extension, then open the paper output support.

    							11.Tap OK.
    The machine starts cleaning. The cleaning will be complete when the paper is ejected.12.
    When the completion message appears, tap  OK.
    If the problem is not resolved after cleaning the paper feed roller, contact the service center.

    							Cleaning the Inside of the Machine (Bottom Plate Cleaning)Remove stains from the inside of the machine. If the inside of the machine becomes dirty, printed paper mayget dirty, so we recommend performing cleaning regularly.
    You need to prepare: a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper* * Be sure to use a new piece of paper.1.
    Make sure that the power is turned on.
    2.
    Flick the HOME screen, then tap   Setup .
    Using the Operation Panel
    The setup menu screen will appear.
    3.
    Tap   Maintenance .
    The  Maintenance  screen will appear.
    4.
    Tap Bottom plate cleaning .
    The confirmation screen will appear.
    5.
    Tap Yes.
    6.
    Follow the message to remove any paper from the cassette 1, then tap  OK.
    7.
    Fold a single sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in half widthwise, then unfold the
    paper.
    8.
    Fold one side of the opened paper in another half, aligning the edge with the center crease,
    unfold the paper, then tap  OK.

    Load only this sheet of paper in the cassette 1 with the ridges of the creases facing up and
    the edge of the half with no crease facing to the far side.
    Important
    •
    The cassette 2 is not available for the Bottom Plate Cleaning procedure. Be sure to load paper in the cassette 1.
    10.
    Extend the output tray extension, then open the paper output support.
    11.
    Tap  OK.
    The paper cleans the inside of the machine as it feeds through the machine. Check the folded parts of the ejected paper. If they are smudged with ink, perform Bottom Plate Cleaning
    again.
    12.
    When the completion message appears, tap  OK.
    Note
    •
    When performing Bottom Plate Cleaning again, be sure to use a new piece of paper.
    If the problem is not resolved after performing cleaning again, the protrusions inside the machine may be
    stained. Wipe off any ink from the protrusions using a cotton swab or the like.
    Important
    •
