229 Important Notes and Restrictions • MagicGate Memory Stick is not supported. • Image files other than files in Exif format (JPEG and TIFF files created on computers) cannot be printed. • If an image file in Exif format is edited or saved on a computer, the file format is changed and no longer remains in Exif format. • Do not save image files and document files in the same medium. • A media card containing over 900 files may not be detected properly. • In Media Print - Text mode, PDF files or TIFF files stored in folders cannot be printed. • PDF files stored on Mac OS cannot be printed and displayed on the screen. • If characters not supported by the machine are used in file names, the file names will not be displayed on the screen. • Characters up to 255 can be recognized as a file name. However, not more than 100 characters will be displayed. • Use media formatted by digital cameras or computers (FAT12, 16, 32 only). • Only use media recommended by Xerox. For the information on recommended media, contact our Customer Support Center. • If anything is wrong with a media card, the process aborts within a few minutes and an error message appears. • Before powering off the WorkCentre 7328/7335/7345, be sure to eject the media card. Inserting and Ejecting Media To insert or eject a media card, follow the procedure below: CAUTION: Do not press the Eject Button, pull out the USB cable, or power off the machine when the Access Indicator light is illuminated. Data stored on the media card may be damaged. 1. Before ejecting the medium, touch the antistatic label. 2. Press the Eject button, and then pull out the media card. 230 Media Print Text Tab The Media Print Text tab allows you to select from a variety of printing options. The options for the Media Print Text tab include: • Output Color – you can choose Color or Black & White. • Paper Supply – choose the paper tray to be used as a source when printing. • 2 Sided Printing – choose 1 Sided, 2 Sided (Flip on long edge), or 2 Sided (Flip on short edge). • Multiple-Up – choose from Off, 2 Pages Up, or 4 Pages Up. Index Print The Index Print button allows you to print a collection of miniature (30mm x 40mm) images onto one page from the files on the media card. When you select the Index Print button, you will only be able to specify the number of copies printed. All other printing options remain at their previous settings. Advanced Settings The Advanced Settings tab allows you to select from a variety of printing options. You can choose to set Bitmap Smoothing to On or Off on this tab. Problem Solving If one of the following symptoms occurs, or if an error message appears on the screen, follow the remedy to solve the problem. Symptom 1. The access indicator light of the Media Card Reader does not illuminate. •Cause: The USB cable may not be connected correctly. •Remedy: Power off the machine, pull out the USB cable, and then insert the cable into the connector securely. Symptom 2. The Media Print - Photos and Media Print - Text icons are not displayed on the All Services screen. •Cause: The machine does not recognize the media card reader properly. •Remedy: Power off the machine, pull out the USB cable, and then insert the cable into the connector securely. Symptom 3. Blank sheets are output. •Cause: Files that cannot be printed by the machine (image files not saved in Exif format) are included in the selected files. •Remedy: Image files not saved in Exif format cannot be printed by Index Print. Delete the image files that cannot be printed by Index Print, and then print files again. 232 USB Printing Overview The USB Printing is available as an optional kit for the WorkCentre 7328/7335/7345. If the Media Card Reader is installed on the WorkCentre 7328/7335/7345, image data (Exif) taken by digital cameras and document files (PDF, TIFF) can be printed by the WorkCentre 7328/7335/7345. Note: “Exif” is a file format that embeds information required to print data in an image taken by digital cameras. If an image file in Exif format is edited or saved on a computer, the file format is changed and no longer remains in Exif format. The WorkCentre 7328/7335/7345 uses two media printing modes: • Media Print – Text – prints data stored in document format. It is helpful to think of the word “text” as synonymous with “document.” • Media Print – Photos – prints data stored in the standard format of most digital cameras. Note: The USB Printing option is similar to the Media Card Reader option, but there are several important differences. USB Printing Hardware • USB slot Supported Media and File Formats USB Printing supports typical USB flash drives. Supported File Formats • Media Print - Text • PDF Extension: .pdf, PDF1.3 or later • TIFF Extension: .tif, gray scale 4 bit/8 bit uncompressed, 4 bit/24 bit compressed by JPEG, compressed by MH/MMR • XPS • Media Print - Photos • JPEG • TIFF - DCF1.0-compliant JPEG/TIFF (Exif2.0, Exif2.1, Exif2.2) are supported. Note: The photo files MUST be in the format that they were stored in on the camera. Copy the folder, (for instance, a DCIM folder) to the USB drive. 236 Thumbnail Preview Thumbnail Preview is an optional feature and may not be available on your machine. Review the instructions that are included in the Thumbnail kit. To view a thumbnail preview and print a document 1. At the device, select [All Services]. 2. Select [Send from Mailbox] icon. 3. Select [Mailbox Name]. A list of Mailbox Names are displayed with a number association. The numbers are used as identifiers for commonly used mailboxes. You may identify the mailbox by the name or number, depending on how you choose to identify the mailbox. 4. Select the document name from the Document List. The document selected will be used to send to the printer. When a document is identified and selected, a check mark will be placed in the Order field. More than one document can be selected. • In the Mailbox, a document to be previewed may be any print, scan, or fax job • On a thumb drive, a document may only be a JPEG in the Exchangeable image file format (Exif). Exif JPEGS are JPEGs as they are stored on a digital camera. A JPEG produced by Photoshop or any other image modification and storage software will not work properly. 5. Select Thumbnail. The Thumbnail feature will open a preview window of the selected document. A small, thumbnail-sized image will display on your screen. This option is useful in determining if you have chosen the correct document. 6. Select Print. The mailbox print settings will display. 7. Select the Paper Supply, Output, and 2 Sided Printing Options. • Paper Supply: Select the paper to be used with this document. • Output: Select the desired output destination for this document. • 2 Sided Printing: Select the appropriate 2 Sided Printing option for this document. 8. 237 Hard Disk Data Encryption The controller hard disk data encryption is enabled by default on your WC 7300 series product. This encryption feature provides an additional level of data security on the device, while operating at a low level within the operating system. The impact on performance is very small. Note: Enabling or disabling disk encryption will result in a system reboot and a hard disk initialization. During hard disk initialization, all customer information, mailboxes, templates, and other information stored on the disk will be lost. To verify or change hard disk data encryption 1. Press the Log In / Out button on the Device’s Control Panel. 2. Press the 1 key on the numeric keypad five consecutive times. 3. Press the Machine Status button on the Control Panel. 4. Touch the Tools tab. 5. Touch Common Service Settings. 6. Scroll to Other Settings. 7. Scroll to Data Encryption. The current setting appears in the Current Settings column. Data Encryption should appear to be ON. 8. To change the setting, touch Data Encryption, touch Change Settings. Touch On or Off, then touch Save. Note: Enabling or disabling disk encryption will result in a system reboot and a hard disk initialization. During hard disk initialization, all customer information, mailboxes, templates, and other data stored on the disk will be lost. Encryption Key For Confidential Data When enabling Data Encryption, the system administrator may also create an Encryption Key For Confidential Data. The system administrator may either verify the default encryption key, or enter a new alpha-numeric string of up to 12 characters to be used by the encryption algorithm. 238 Internet Services Enable Internet Services (HTTP) Internet Services are a series of Web (HTML) Pages located within the Device enabling network communication settings to be conveniently configured from a web browser running on a remotely located workstation. Note: If Authentication is enabled, as stated in the Security – Authentication topic in the Options section of this guide, you will have to supply the Administrator User Name and Password when first accessing Internet Services, rather than supplying these credentials after configuring individual features with Internet Services. To access Internet Services Settings at the Device 1. Press the Log In / Out button on the Control Panel. 2. Press the 1 key on the numeric keypad five consecutive times. (This is the factory default password.) 3. Press Enter on the touch screen. 4. Press the Machine Status button on the Control Panel. 5. Press the Tools tab. 6. Press Connectivity & Network Setup. 7. Press Port Settings. 8. When the Port Settings menu displays, press the down arrow key to view additional selections. 9. Press the Internet Services (HTTP) selection line. 10. Press the Change Settings button in the lower right corner of the Port Settings menu screen. 11. When the Internet Services (HTTP) menu displays, note that you have two settings available for selection. The Port Settings menu selections are Port Status and Internet Services Port Number.
