132 LAN Fax (PCL Drivers) You can facsimile documents directly from your PC in the same way you would print a document. This is known as the LAN Fax. Initial Setup Refer to the TCP/IP Peer to Peer (LPR or Standard TCP/IP) Printing topic, in the Print Drivers section, and add the printer to the Windows 2000 or Windows XP desktop using a Standard TCP/IP Port. After the driver has been installed, perform the following steps: 1. Right mouse click on the Printer’s icon and select Properties. 2. Click the Options tab, then click the Get Information from Printer button. 3. The Network Address box should now be displaying the printer’s IP address and a checkmark should appear in the Enable Bi-Directional Communication checkbox. Also, the Fax Module listing in the Items box should now be displayed as Available. Adding a Recipient to a Fax Phonebook 1. From the File menu of your program, select Print to display the Print dialog. 2. Check that the correct (PCL) printer is selected, and then click Properties to display the Properties dialog. 3. On the Paper/Output tab, select Fax from the Job Type drop-down menu. The options on the Fax tab will now be available for your selection. 4. Select the necessary settings on the Fax tab. 5. Click the Fax Phonebook button to select your fax recipient or to enter a new recipient. 6. If your recipient is not selectable from an existing Phonebook, select New…, select Individual, click OK, enter the recipient’s Name and Fax number, and click OK. 7. Click the Help button for any additional help you might need. 8. Click Close to close the Fax Phonebook dialog, then click OK. Sending the Fax 1. When the Print dialog is displayed, click OK. 2. On the Fax Recipient dialog, to send to the previously-entered, new recipient, click Look Up Phonebook. 3. Double click the name of the new individual previously entered (in step 6 above) and click OK. Note: Alternatively, you can manually enter in a Name (of up to 30 characters) and a Fax Number. 4. 136 Scan to PC (FTP/SMB) Overview This feature is designed to convert scanned data to TIFF, JPEG, or PDF format, and then use the FTP or SMB protocol to send the data to a computer (server or workstation) on the network. Notes: It is assumed that you purchased the Scanning option to enable Scanning to FTP/SMB with your Device. If you did not, contact your Xerox Representative to purchase this option. For scanning to SMB, make sure that a shared folder is created for saving scanned data on the network. For scanning to FTP, make sure that the server is running the FTP service and that you have created a directory within the FTP root to be used as a scan filing location. Requirements for FTP When using FTP transmission, one of the following FTP servers, with an account on that server (login name and password), is required. • Microsoft Windows Server 2003 FTP service of Microsoft Internet Information Server 6.0 • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, or Microsoft Windows XP FTP service of Microsoft Internet Information Server 3.0 or later • Mac OS X FTP service of Mac OS X 10.1.5/10.2.x/10.3.8/10.3.9/10.4.2 Refer to the manual provided with the software for how to configure the FTP service. 137 Installation Procedure This section describes the configuration procedure to use the Scan to PC (FTP/SMB) feature on the machine. The following two steps are necessary to use the Scan to PC (FTP/SMB) feature. • Enabling the required ports and Setting TCP/IP Enable the FTP port and SMB port on the Device, and then set the machine’s IP address. If you will be using SMB on a Microsoft Network, make sure to enable either DNS or WINS as part of the TCP/IP configuration. For FTP, make sure that DNS is enabled. • Preparing an FTP directory or SMB shared folder on the receiving computer (server or workstation). 138 Enabling Ports and Setting TCP/IP To use Scan to PC (FTP/SMB) you need to enable the applicable Ports (SMB or FTP client) on the Device, and make sure that an IP address has been set on the machine. Note: The configuration can also be performed using CentreWare Internet Services. For information on how to use CentreWare Internet Services, refer to the Internet Services section of this guide. 1. Display the System Administrator Menu screen. a. Press the Log In/Out button. b. Enter the user ID with the numeric keypad or the keyboard displayed on screen, and select Enter. Note: The default user ID is “11111”. When using the Authentication feature, a password is required. The default password is “x-admin”. c. Press the Machine Status button on the Control Panel. d. Touch the Tools tab. 2. When using the SMB protocol, enable the SMB port. a. Select Connectivity & Network Setup. b. Select Port Settings. c. Select SMB and then select Change Settings. d.
