Installing required configuration equipment for the 7400B Before you c an enter AT c onfig uration c ommand s, you must first c onnec t a terminal or a PC with a keyb oard , monitor, and terminal-emulation software to the d ata mod ule. Proc eed as follows. 1. Connec t one end of an RS-232 c ab le to an RS-232, serial-c ommunic ations p ort (often c alled a COM port) on the terminal or PC. 2. Connec t the other end of the RS-232 c ab le to Port 1 of the d ata module 3. If you are using a PC, start your terminal emulation software. Selecting command mode on the 7400B When it is transmitting and rec eiving d ata, the 7400B d ata mod ule is online, in d ata mod e. To c onfig ure the 7400B, you have to switc h it to c ommand mod e. Proc eed as follows. 1. From the terminal keyboard , enter the esc ap e seq uenc e: +++ The data module enters command mode and displays the OK result c od e. Displaying the current configuration on the 7400B 1. Enter at&v Enabling automatic answering on the 7400B 1. Enter ats0=nnn where nnn is a decimal number in the range 1-255 . Enabling remote operation on the 7400B The exac t c onfig uration of any p artic ular 7400B d ata module dep end s on what it is b eing used for.
