    When you move ESM circuit p ac ks, you MUST remove the DS1 and  
    sig naling  g roup  translations. You c annot use the change circuit pack

    Connecting the Property 
    Management System 
    A d ata mod ule and  an async hronous d ata unit form the interfac e between the 
    DEFINITY and the prop erty manag ement system (PMS).  See Fi g u re  6 6
     and 
    Chapter 4, ‘‘Data Mod ules and  Async hronous Data Units’’

    Data Mod ule Form (see ‘‘Ad minister the DEFINITY ECS for Data Mod ules’’ 
    on pag e 73).
    4. Estab lish a p hysic al c onnec tion from the d ata p ort on the c irc uit p ac k, 
    throug h the MDF, to the wall jac k where the d ata unit is installed .
    5. Connec t the d ata mod ules to the eq uipment.
    Using an Asynchronous Data Unit (ADU) and a 
    Data Line Circuit Pack
    You c onnec t an async hronous d ata terminal throug h an ADU to a d ata line c irc uit 
    p ac k. Normally, the c onnec ted  d ata terminal  powers the d ata unit. The d ata unit 
    c an also b e remotely or loc ally powered  using a 2012D transformer with a 248B 
    ad ap ter. Data units c onnec ted  to rec eive-only p rinters req uire external p ower. 
    1. Config ure p rinter or terminal in ac c ord anc e with the rec ommend ations in 
    the vend or’s d oc umentation. 
    2. Id entify the p ort assoc iated  with the d ata unit or d ata mod ule using  the 
    Data Mod ule Form (see ‘‘Ad minister the DEFINITY ECS for Data Mod ules’’ 
    on pag e 73).
    3. Estab lish a p hysic al c onnec tion from the d ata p ort on the c irc uit p ac k, 
    throug h the MDF, to the wall jac k where the d ata unit is installed .
    4. Connec t the information outlet to the ADU.
    5. Connec t the RS-232 p lug  on the ADU or data mod ule to the d ata terminal.
    6. Connec t the p rinter to the ADU via a mod em or d ata mod ule, using  the 
    instruc tions in Chapter 4, ‘‘Data Mod ules and  Async hronous Data Units’’
    , 
    and  Chap ter 5, ‘‘External Mod ems’’
