MESSAGE CENTER Description Available in Software Levels: BaseAUX N/A > 02.10 Available in Voice Mail Software Levels: NVM-202NVM-2000 > 1.03 >2.06 A Message Center is a shared mailbox available to any keyset user with a programmed Message Center key. Any keyset user with a Message Center key can leave a message in the Message Center or listen to messages others have left. For example, a Service Department dispatcher could have Message Center keys for each of the company’s products. When all technicians are busy, the dispatcher could send any additional calls to the Mes- sage Center assigned to the specific product. As technicians become available, they can select the messages for the product group they want to service first. Since each Message Center requires an uninstalled (phantom) extension port, the system allows as many Mes- sage Centers as there are available uninstalled extensions. In addition, a keyset can have as many Message Cen- ter keys as it has available programmable keys. Conditions The NVM-202/2002 must have a subscriber mailbox that corresponds to the Message Center phantom extension number. Programming ➣ E- Extensions, E2- Extension Circuit Type Enter circuit type X for the uninstalled extension used as the Message Center phantom extension. ➣E- Extensions, EA- UCD Group Master Extension Number Enter 300 (unassigned) for the Message Center phantom extension. ➣KS- Programming Keys for Keysets For each extension that should have a Message Center key, program a Call Coverage Key (S+ext.) for the Message Center phantom extension. Enter any ring option for the Call Coverage key; the system ig- nores the ring option programming. Note: After programming the options for Message Center, turn off the phone system - wait a few sec- onds - then turn it back on. Feature Operation To call the Message Center: 1. Lift the handset or press HF. 2. Press the Message Center key. When the Message Center has messages waiting, your Message Center key flashes at a unique rate called the DND flash rate. You log into the mailbox of the Message Center phantom extension. You have all the options available to any other mailbox subscriber. You cannot, however, press the MSG key while idle to obtain the num- ber of messages waiting in the Message Center. MESSAGE WAITING Description With Message Waiting, an extension user can leave an indication at a busy or unanswered extension requesting a return call. The indication is a flashing MSG key and an optional hourly voice reminder message. Answering the Message Waiting automatically calls the extension which left the indication. Message Waiting ensures that a user will not have to recall an unanswered extension. It also ensures that a user will not miss calls when their ex- tension is busy or unattended. Additionally, Message Waiting lets extension users: •Cancel all the messages they left at other extensions •Cancel all messages left at their extensions •View and selectively answer messages left at their extensions (display keyset only) An extension user can leave Messages Waiting at any number of extensions. Also, any number of extension us- ers can leave a Message Waiting at the same extension. Note: In AUX Module > 02.10 this feature works slightly different. If a user places a call to an extension that has left them a Message Waiting, the Message Waiting indication remains in force after they hang up. This prevents the user from inadvertently deleting Message Waitings. For example, John at extension 304 could leave a Message Waiting for Beth at extension 305. If Beth should call John for some other reason (i.e., not returning the Mes- sage Waiting), the Message Waiting stays in effect. Beth’s Message Waiting cancels only if she presses ICM and MSG to return John’s call. In previous software versions, Beth’s Message Waiting would cancel as soon as she called John. This enhancement also helps a display telephone user who normally scrolls through their Messages Waiting. The user can scroll through their messages and place an Intercom call to the party they want to call back. The Message Waiting remains unless the user specifically cancels it. In previous software versions, the Message Waiting would cancel automatically. Note: An extension user cannot cancel messages they have left at other extensions. In previous software versions, the user could do this by calling the extension at which they left the message waiting. Conditions A power failure or system reset cancels all active Messages Waiting. Answering the message also cancels the Message Waiting. This is true if the called extension doesn’t answer, is busy or is in Do Not Disturb. MUSIC ON HOLD Description Music On Hold (MOH) sends music to calls on Hold, parked calls and calls transferred to a busy extension. The music lets the caller know that his call is waiting, not forgotten. Without Music On Hold, the system pro- vides silence to these types of calls. Music on Hold requires a customer-provided music source (i.e., tape deck, receiver, etc.) and an unused trunk circuit. Note: In accordance with U.S. copyright law, a license may be required from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) or other similar organizations, if radio, television broadcasts or music and other material not in the public domain are transmitted through the Music-On-Hold feature of telecommunica- tions systems. Nitsuko America hereby disclaims any liability arising out of the failure to obtain such a license. Conditions (A.) Music On Hold (for internal extensions) disables the fourth trunk circuit on the first CO Module in the main CEU. You cannot use the fourth trunk circuit for trunks. (Music on Hold for outside calls does not use the trunk circuit.) If you want MOH for trunks 9-16, connect the MOH terminals on the main CEU to the MOH terminals on the expansion CEU. For MOH, the system provides: Input Impedance 100K Ohms Maximum Input -10 dBm (244 mV AC) Refer to the system Hardware Manual for additional installation details.
