DEFINITY AUDIX System Maintenance 585-300-121 Issue 1 May 1999 SCSI Devices 4-9 Disk/MO Drive Replacement Procedures 4 The only tool req uired to remove the d isk d rive or the MO drive is either a 1/4-inc h nut d rive or a blad ed flat-head sc rewd river. To remove either the hard d isk d rive or the MO d rive c omp lete the following steps. !WARNING: Static elec tric ity c an b e destruc tive to system p arts. Use an anti-static wrist strap whenever removing or installing a DEFINITY AUDIX System. Also use an anti-static mat when taking the system ap art to rep lac e storag e d evic es or circuit packs 1. Ensure that the c ustomer knows you will b e p owering d own the system and d isrupting servic e. 2. If it is not alread y shut d own, b ring the system to the shutd own state with the RESET SYSTEM SH U TD O WN sc reen. 3. Carefully slid e the system from the switc h c arrier. Hand le with c are: the system weig hs 3.85 p ound s. 4. Disc onnec t the p ower and SCSI bus c ab les for the d rive b eing rep lac ed from the c irc uit p ac k. !CAUTION: Do not remove the c ab les from the drive at this time. The c ab les should not b e removed from the drive until after the d rive has b een removed from the TN568. 5. Turn the c irc uit p ac k over. 6. Remove the four sc rews that hold the d rive to the c irc uit p ac k. There are eight sc rews on the b ac k of the c irc uit pac k. Selec t the four that sec ure the d rive you are removing .

Alig n the c irc uit b oard over the stand offs with the d rive in the c orrec t orientation. Insert the four sc rews that attac h the d rive to the c irc uit p ac k. For the MO drive, the slot for inserting the MO d isk should b e fac ing the fac ep late. For the hard d isk, the SCSI c onnec tion should fac e the top of the b oard with the label read able. See Fig ure 4-1 for the p lac ement for the hard disk. 3. Turn the c irc uit p ac k over. 4. Attac h the SCSI b us c able and p ower c ab le to the drive and to the c irc uit p ac k. The SCSI bus c ab le should b e attac hed with the lab el fac ing up . Ensure that the latc hes that sec ure the SCSI and power c ab le c onnec tion to the c irc uit p ac k are loc ked . 5. See ‘‘Rep lac ing the Hard Disk Drive’’ Chap ter 10 for instructions on using the Stand alone Utilities to initialize the new hard d isk d rive and c op y d ata to it. Jumper Settings The jump ers for the MO d rive are set at the fac tory and c annot b e c hang ed . The hard d isk d rive d oes not require any jumpers. Fig ure 4-3 shows the jump er loc ations on the hard d isk d rive. There should b e no jump ers at any of these loc ations.
