Use an anti-static wrist strap whenever removing or installing a DEFINITY AUDIX System. Also use an anti-static mat when taking the system ap art to rep lac e the c irc uit p ac k or storag e d evic es. 1. Ensure that the c ustomer knows you will b e p owering d own the system and d isrupting servic e. 2. If it is not alread y shut d own, b ring the system to the shutd own state with the RESET SYSTEM SHUTDOWN sc reen, or the shutd own button on the fac ep late. See Ta b l e 1 - 4 in Chap ter 1 for the LED ind ic ation of when it is safe to p ull the b oard . 3. Unsnap the sec uring latc h at the b ottom front of the system, and swing downward. 4. Carefully slid e the DEFINITY AUDIX System from the switc h c arrier. Handle with c are: the system weig hs 3.85 p ound s. 5. If you need to rep lac e either of the d isk d rives on the TN568 b oard see ‘‘Disk/MO Drive Rep lac ement Proc ed ures’’ in Chap ter 4. Rep lac e the TN568 using the above step s in reverse order.

Refer to the alarm log tab le for rep air p roc ed ures and to the error log tab le to b etter und erstand what eq uip ment errors will trig ger eac h alarm. Magneto-Optical Drive Problems Errors that oc c ur d uring normal MO-drive op eration are rec ord ed in the system error log . Errors d etec ted d uring b ac kg round tests are also rec ord ed in the system error log. These tests are exec uted every hour. They: nDetermine if the d evic e is eq uip ped nDetermine if the d evic e is write-p rotec ted (this p rob lem d oes not c ause an error) nVerify that the MO d rive is read y. Note that the MO d rive c annot b e b usied out. Use the STATUS MO-DISK sc reen to d isp lay the c urrent status of the MO d rive and MO d isk, listed b elow. Bring ing up this screen also invokes a SCSI self- d iag nostic s test of the MO d isk drive and MO d isk.
