    Follow the step s b elow to rep lac e the TN568. 
    !WARNING:
    Static  elec tric ity c an b e destruc tive to system p arts. Use an anti-static  wrist 
    strap  whenever removing  or installing  a DEFINITY AUDIX System. Also use 
    an anti-static  mat when taking  the system ap art to rep lac e the c irc uit p ac k 
    or storag e d evic es.
    1. Ensure that the c ustomer knows you will b e p owering  d own the system 
    and  d isrupting  servic e. 
    2. If it is not alread y shut d own, b ring the system to the shutd own state with 
    the 
    RESET SYSTEM SHUTDOWN sc reen, or the shutd own button on the fac ep late. 
    See Ta b l e  1 - 4 in Chap ter 1 for the LED ind ic ation of when it is safe to p ull 
    the b oard .
    3. Unsnap  the sec uring latc h at the b ottom front of the system, and  swing  
    downward.
    4. Carefully slid e the DEFINITY AUDIX System from the switc h c arrier. 
    Handle with c are: the system weig hs 3.85 p ound s.
    5. If you need to rep lac e either of the d isk d rives on the TN568 b oard  see 
    ‘‘Disk/MO Drive Rep lac ement Proc ed ures’’ in Chap ter 4.
    Rep lac e the TN568 using  the above step s in reverse order.

    This c hapter lists errors and  alarms that may oc c ur to the MO d rive or hard  d isk 
    d rive. Refer to the alarm log  tab le for rep air p roc ed ures and  to the error log  tab le 
    to b etter und erstand  what eq uip ment errors will trig ger eac h alarm. 
    Magneto-Optical Drive Problems
    Errors that oc c ur d uring  normal MO-drive op eration are rec ord ed  in the system 
    error log . 
    Errors d etec ted  d uring  b ac kg round  tests are also rec ord ed in the system error 
    log. These tests are exec uted  every hour. They: 
    nDetermine if the d evic e is eq uip ped  
    nDetermine if the d evic e is write-p rotec ted  (this p rob lem d oes not c ause an 
    error) 
    nVerify that the MO d rive is read y.
    Note that the MO d rive c annot b e b usied  out.
    Use the 
    STATUS MO-DISK sc reen to d isp lay the c urrent status of the MO d rive and  
    MO d isk, listed  b elow. Bring ing  up  this screen also invokes a SCSI self-
    d iag nostic s test of the MO d isk drive and  MO d isk.

    Th e  STATUS MO-DISK c ommand  rep orts the following :
    nif the MO d rive is eq uip p ed
    nthe vend or
    nthe model number
    nthe vend or’s revision numb er
    nif the MO d isk is eq uip p ed
    nif the MO d isk is writing  enab led
    nthe MO disk capacity
    Refer to Ta b l e  4 - 1 for a list of alarms and  repair p roc ed ures ad d ressed  to the MO 
    d rive. Perform rep air ac tions one at a time until the p roblem is solved . Alarms 
    ap p ear in the 
    D I SPL AY A L ARM S screen under the resource type:
    UEQ
    Uneq uipp ed
    ISP
    In Servic e Pend ing . The MO d isk may have just b een ad ded  to the system b ut 
    initialization is not yet c omp lete.
    OOS-D
    Out Of Servic e d ue to insuffic ient translation information. This implies that the MO 
    d isk is inserted  b ut has not yet been ad ded  with the 
    ADD MO-DISK sc reen.
    OOS-F
    Out of Servic e d ue to a fault. The MO d rive shows an alarm against it.
    OOS-T
    Out of Servic e d ue to a test. An MO d rive test is running .
    ISB
    In Servic e Busy. The MO d rive is ac tive.
    ISI
    In Servic e Id le. The MO d isk has b een ad d ed and  is inac tive.

    Procedure
    1. Enter remove MO-disk
     to unloc k and  unload  the MO d isk.
    2. Remove the MO d isk from the d rive. Rep lac e it with a new MO d isk. 
    3. Enter add MO-disk
    . This c lears any existing  alarms, load s the MO 
    d isk, and  ad d s the d efault volume lab el. Op tionally, the system 
    administrator can add initialize
     to the add MO-disk
     c ommand . This 
    will remove all d ata on the disk while retaining  the volume lab el.

    Hard Disk Problems
    Except for normal inline error detection, and periodic background tests, which 
    oc c ur every 30 sec ond s, no tests are manually p erformed on the hard  d isk d rive 
    using sc reens. The d isk drive c annot b e b usied  out. 
    Use the 
    STATUS DISK c ommand  to d isp lay the c urrent values of the d isk d rive, 
    listed  b elow. Bring ing up  this sc reen will also invoke a d isk b ac kg round  test. 
    Refer to Ta b l e  4 - 4, Disk Alarms and Repair Procedures, for a list of alarms and  
    rep air p roc ed ures ad d ressed  to the d isk d rive. Alarms ap pear in the 
    D ISPL AY
