    2Pull the spring-loaded metal plate down and to the right. Hold it in place.
    3Install the top left pick roller:
    aSlide the pick roller onto the metal bar until itsnapsinto place.
    bPull the pick roller gently to see if it is attached. If it pulls loose, then push it back on and
    turn it clockwise.
    4Repeat the instructions forstep 3to install the top right pick roller.
    5Release the metal plate.

    6Slide the bottom pick roller onto its metal bar until itsnapsinto place.
    7Pull the pick roller gently to see if it is attached. If it pulls loose, then push it back on and turn it
    counterclockwise.
    8For tray 5, pull the metal plate toward you. Seestep 14 on page 128for an illustration.
    9Install the top right pick roller:
    aSlide the pick roller onto the metal bar until itsnapsinto place.
    bPull the pick roller gently to see if it is attached. If it pulls loose, then push it back on and
    turn it clockwise.
    10Repeat the instructions forstep 9 on page 130to install the top left pick roller.

    12Pull the pick roller gently to see if it is attached. If it pulls loose, then push it back on and turn it
    counterclockwise.
    Closing up
    1Reinstall trays 1, 2, and 3. Seestep 5ofBehind trays 1, 2, and 3or more information.
    2Reinstall tray 4. Seestep 6ofBehind Tray 4for more information.
    3Close tray 5. The action of closing the tray forces the metal plate back into place.
    4If you have already replaced all the items listed in the following note, you may turn the printer
    on.

    Cleaning the wiper blade
    Use the cloth in the maintenance kit or any clean cloth to clean the wiper blade in the finisher. To
    access the wiper blade:
    1Turn the printer off.
    2Open the finisher door (Door K).
    3While supporting the wiper blade, loosen the screw until the blade comes free from the pin.

    4Pull the wiper blade straight out.
    5Wipe the four rubber tips with the cloth from the maintenance kit, or use any clean cloth.

    6Slide the wiper blade foot on top of the angled alignment tab. Make sure the right side of the
    blade is to the left of the vertical alignment tab.
    7Push the wiper blade in.
    8Make sure the pin on the finisher wall goes through the hole on bottom of the wiper blade.
    Make sure the front of the wiper blade is flush with the wall behind it.
    9Hold the wiper blade firmly in place and tighten the screw.
    10Close the finisher door (Door K).
    11If you have already replaced all the items listed in the following note, you may turn the printer
    on.

    Resetting the maintenance page
    counter
    After you replace all the items in the maintenance kit, reset the maintenance page counter:
    1Make sure the printer is off.
    2Press and hold theSelectandReturnbuttons while you turn the printer on.
    3Release the buttons whenPerforming Self Testappears on the display.
    The printer performs its power-on sequence, and then Config Menu appears on the first line of
    the display.
    4PressMenuuntil you see Reset Maint Cnt, and then pressSelect.
    5Reset appears on the second line of the display. PressSelect.
    The maintenance counter is reset andResetting Maint Cnt Valuebriefly appears.
    6PressMenuuntil you see Exit Config Menu, and then pressSelect.
    Activating Menu Changesbriefly appears, followed byPerforming Self Test.The
    printer returns to the Ready state.

    Determining the status of supplies
    The printer uses the second line of the display to aler t you to any supply or maintenance items that
    need replacing. However, the printer can only display information about one item at a time.
    If you want to determine the status of all of the consumables installed in your printer, you can print the
    menu settings page from the Utilities Menu. (Press
    Menuuntil you see Utilities Menu, and then press
    Select.PressMenuuntil you see Print Menus, and then pressSelectto print the menu settings page.)
    One or two pages print depending on the number of menu settings you have. Look for “Consumable
    Status” on the page; the percentage of life remaining for each of the items is indicated.

    Storing supplies
    Choose a cool, clean storage area for your printer supplies. Store suppliesright side upin their original
    packaging until you are ready to install them.
    Do not expose printer supplies to:
    Direct sunlight
    Temperatures above 35°C (95°F)
    High humidity (above 80%)
    Salty air
    Corrosive gases
    Heavy dust

    Recycling used supplies
    Lexmark’s Operation ReSourceSMprogram lets you participate in a worldwide recycling effort at no
    cost to you.
    Simply package your used printer cartridges in the shipping box used for the replacement supply.
    Follow the instructions on the outside of the box to send the used supply back to Lexmark.
    If a prepaid shipping label is not available for your country, contact the place where you bought your
    printer for additional recycling information.
    WARNING:Lexmark does not recommend refilling used printer cartridges or purchasing
    refilled cartridges from a third party. Print quality and printer reliability cannot be
    guaranteed if you do. The printer warranty does not cover damage caused by using
    refilled cartridges.
