11Utility mode 11-40 362/282/222 Utility mode Chapter 11 To register a user with external server authentication A user can be registered when external server authentication is used. 1Display the User Authentication screen for external server authentica- tion. – For details on displaying the User Authentication screen, refer to “Specifying user authentication settings” on page 11-38. 2Touch [General Set- tings]. The General Settings screen appears. 3Select the authentication system, and then touch [Enter]. – To cancel changes to the settings, touch [Cancel]. – If the software switch settings are specified to synchronize exter- nal server authenti- cation and LDAP authentication, se- lect “Active Directory”. For details on the software switch settings, refer to “Specifying software switch settings (machine functions)” on page 11-50. The User Authentication screen appears again. Utility mode11 362/282/222 11-41 Utility mode Chapter 11 4Touch [Domain Setting]. – If a domain name is already registered, touch [Default Do- main Name] in the User Authentication screen for external server authentica- tion, and then select the default domain name. – The domain name registered in the first line (upper left) of the Domain Setting screen is the default. – A maximum of 10 domain names can be registered with Active Di- rectory. The Domain Setting screen appears. 5Perform the desired operation. – To register a new domain name, select an empty button, and then touch [Change Setting]. – To change the name of a registered domain, select the button of the domain whose name is to be changed, and then touch [Change Setting]. – To delete a registered domain name, select the button of the do- main to be deleted, and then touch [Delete]. – To check the connection with an external server, select the button of a registered domain name, and then touch [Check Connection]. The Domain Name screen appears. 6Type in the domain name, and then touch [Enter]. – If “NDS” was select- ed in the Authentica- tion System screen, [Tree Name] and [Context Name] ap- pear instead of [Do- main Name]. The User Info. screen appears. 5Touch [User Name]. – If machine authenti- cation and account track are synchro- nized, [Account Name] appears in the User Info. screen. For details, re- fer to the User’s Guide [Network Scanner Operations]. – The software switch settings can be specified so that user names and passwords registered with user authentication can be used in LDAP searches. For details on the software switch settings, refer to “Specifying software switch settings (machine functions)” on page 11-50. A screen for selecting a user number appears. 3Select the desired user number. – Select a tab, and then touch the but- ton for the desired user number. – To immediately dis- play the desired user, touch [User Number], and then use the keypad to type in the user number. To reset all counters for the selected user to 0, touch [Yes]. – Touch [Counter] to display the Counter screen, which con- tains the counters for the selected user. 5Touch [Enter], and then touch [Enter] in the next screen that appears. – To exit the User Authentication screen, touch [Enter] in each screen until the Basics screen appears.
