    ad ministered for AMIS one-step (p re-ad ministered ) ad d ressing may b e
ad ministered on the loc al mac hine. This allows loc al sub sc rib ers to ad d ress
messag es to these rec ip ients b y name (last-name-first) and to hear name
voic eb ac k to c onfirm ad d ressing (if you rec ord a name). Sub sc rib ers on remote
systems ad ministered for two-step ad d ressing
c annot b e ad ministered on the
    local system.
The loc al system ad ministrator must inp ut all ad ministered remote sub sc rib er
information and keep the information c urrent (there is no mac hine-to-mac hine
up d ating availab le for remote mac hines over an AMIS analog /messag e d elivery
network). For this reason, you may wish to ad minister only those remote
sub sc rib ers exp ec ted to reg ularly rec eive messag es. Rec ord the p ertinent
    information for these subsc rib ers on Wo r k s h e e t C.

    AUDIX Administration
This c hapter d esc rib es how to imp lement the AMIS Analog Networking and /or
Messag e Delivery features on an AUDIX R1V6 or later system. Information is
    org anized as follows:
    nImp lementation and testing
    nOngoing administration
    NOTE:
To ad minister AMIS analog networking on a DEFINITY AUDIX system, turn
to Chap ter 4, DEFINITY AUDIX Ad ministration
     To ad minister AMIS analog
networking on an Intuity system, turn to Chap ter 5, Intuity System AMIS
    Ad ministration.
Planning is the essential first step in imp lementing the AMIS Analog Networking
and /or Messag e Delivery features. Comp lete Chap ter 2, Planning and Desig n,
b efore starting the steps in this c hap ter.
Network ad ministration should not beg in until the loc al system is running
smoothly and the ad ministrator has had some exp erienc e ad ministering it.
    !WARNING:
To minimize unauthorized long d istanc e c alls, restric t the AMIS Analog
Networking and Messag e Delivery features to send messag es to telep hone
numb ers loc ated in sp ec ific c alling areas or to sp ec ific d estinations need ed
to c ond uc t b usiness. Ad d itionally, use the Messag e Send ing Restric tions
feature to ad minister whic h sub sc rib ers c an send AMIS analog networking
and messag e d elivery messages, and to whic h loc ations they c an send

    Implementation
This sec tion d esc rib es how to imp lement the AMIS Analog Networking and
Messag e Delivery features on an AUDIX R1V6 or later system. Bec ause the AMIS
Analog Networking and Messag e Delivery features have similar ad ministration
req uirements, you may want to ad minister them simultaneously if you p lan to use
    b oth features.
AUDIX ad ministration tasks inc lud e:
    1. Disp lay the Loc al Mac hine
    2. Ad minister AMIS Analog Networking Loop b ac k Test Mailb ox (Op tional)
    3. Ad minister AMIS Analog Networking /Messag e Delivery Parameters
    4. Administer Outcalling Periods
    5. Ad just System Limits for Sub sc rib ers
    6. Ad minister Retransmission Intervals
    7. Restart the AUDIX System
    8. Ad minister Remote Mac hines and /or Telep hone Numb ers
    9. Rec ord Remote Mac hine Names (Op tional)
    10. Administer Remote Subscribers (Optional)
    11. Rec ord Ad ministered Remote Sub sc rib er Names (Op tional)
    12. Test the Remote Connec tion
    NOTE:
Not all forms used to ad minister these features are fully exp lained in this
sec tion; only the information nec essary for implementing the AMIS Analog
Networking and /or Message Delivery features is c overed . For c omp lete
