    Procedure 101 Word 3: Prefix Digits
    This p roc ed ure allows you to p rep end  up  to four d ig its to the inc oming  c alled  
    p arty numb er on a trunk g roup  b asis g iven the typ e of ad d ress in the c alled  p arty 
    numb er. This p refixing  is d one before any dig it analysis is p erformed . You d o this 
    b y entering  a typ e of ad d ress in field  2. This is the typ e of ad d ress field in the 
    inc oming  c alled  p arty numb er IE. If you want c alls with this typ e of ad d ress to 
    have digits prepended to the called party number digits, enter the desired digits 
    in field s 3-6.
    Procedure 103 Word 1: Network

    Field 3
    Determines the numb er of traveling  c lass marks (TCMs) a trunk g roup  will send  
    and receive. Encodes are:

    a non-zero value, then the trunk g roup  is p art of a symmetric al route. After a 
    p attern is selec ted , p referenc es for whic h the outg oing  trunk g roup  has the 
    network/tand em field s in Proc ed ure 103 set to 1,1 and  for whic h the p referenc e 
    numb er is g reater than the symmetric al routing  d ep th are ig nored .
    If a c all enters the switc h on a trunk g roup that is p art of a symmetric al route (that 
    is, p roc ed ure 103, word  1, field  4 is set to 1) and  the symmetric al routing  d ep th 
    field  for the switc h is set to a non-zero value, then symmetric al routing  oc c urs. 
    After a p attern is selec ted , p referenc es for whic h the outg oing  trunk g roup  has 
    the symmetric al routing  field in Proc ed ure 103 set and for whic h the preferenc e 
    numb er is g reater than the symmetric al routing  d ep th are ig nored .
    Fields 5-8
    The ISDN-PRI d oes not p lac e any new or add itional c onsid erations on translating  
    these field s. The enc od es that are translated  are g enerally d ep end ent on eac h 
    trunk g roup , its ap p lic ation, and  the assoc iated  trunk g roups.
    Field 9
    The digit sending index for a given preference (digit sending index field in 
    p roc ed ure 318, word  1) and  Dial Tone Detec t Ignore field  for the trunk g roup 
    (procedure 103, word 1, field 9) determine when digit sending begins. An 
    outg oing  trunk seq uenc e is started after the outg oing  trunk is seized . If Dial Tone 
    is d etec ted  d uring  the trunk seq uenc e, the switc h remembers the d etec tion. 0
    Do not send  or exp ec t to rec eive any TCMs.

    Tone Detec t Ig nore field  for the trunk g roup  is set to 0, d ig it send ing  b eg ins 
    immediately (the first pause is skipped).
    If Dial Tone was not d etec ted  d uring  the trunk seq uenc e or the trunk g roup  is 
    ad ministered  to Ignore Dial Tone, a timer is set b ased  on the p ause leng th of the 
    first digit sending group. If the first pause is 0, digit sending begins immediately.
    If Dial Tone is d etec ted  while p ausing  b efore send ing the first g roup and  Dial 
    Tone Detec t Ig nore is set to 0, p ausing  is d isc ontinued  and  d igit send ing  b eg ins 
    immediately. Otherwise, digit sending begins when Pausing completes.

    Field 13
    This field  affec ts how Network Digit Collec tion op erates and  when route selec tion 
    is attempted  for network c alls arriving  on a trunk g roup . The d ifferenc es b etween 
    the two op tions for this field  are easily illustrated  with a simp le examp le.
    Supp ose a networks d ialing  p lan has b een ad ministered  in Proc ed ure 314 and  
    that the p lan c onsists entirely of seven d igit ad d ress string s that are d ifferentiated  
    b y their first three d ig its (i.e. they all have three d ig it string  id entifiers).
    When a c all that arrives on a trunk g roup  for whic h this field  is zero enters 
    Network Digit Analysis, an attemp t will b e mad e to c ollec t seven d ig its, and  any 
    ap plic ab le traveling  c lass marks. Onc e these d ig its have b een c ollec ted , they 
    are ap plied  to the networks d ialing  p lan, a Virtual Nod ep oint Id entifier is 
    d etermined  and  route selec tion c ommenc es.
    When a c all that arrives on a trunk g roup  for whic h this field is one enters Network 
    Dig it Analysis, an attemp t will b e mad e to c ollec t three d igits. Sinc e all string s 
    c an b e id entified  (and a Virtual Nod ep oint Id entifier d etermined ) b y the first three 
    digits, a route could be selected after reception of the third digit. Whether or not 0
    Dial Tone Detec tion Ac tive (d efault). If dial tone is d etec ted  d uring  the 
    outgoing trunk sequence begin sending as soon as the sequence 
    c omp letes (ig nore the first p ause sp ec ified in field  3 of p roc ed ure 321, 
    word  2). If d ial tone is d etec ted during  the first p ause interval, b eg in 
    send ing  immed iately.

    Trunk Assignments
    Eac h analog  trunk c irc uit p ac k p rovid es four c irc uits that are ad ministered  b y 
    using  p roc ed ure 150. Conversely, eac h DS1 p rovid es 24 c irc uits (c hannels) that 
    are ad ministered  b y using  p roc ed ure 116.
    For trad itional mod ules, eac h DS1/MFAT c arrier will sup p ort a maximum of two 
    DS1s, eac h oc c up ying  one slot and  loc ated  in slots 5 and 18. When a 
    DS1/DMI/ISDN interfac e (trunk ap p lic ations) is loc ated in slot 5, it uses the six 
    slots 0, 1, 2, 5, 6, and  7. When the interfac e is loc ated  in slot 18, it uses the six 
    slots 13, 14, 15, 18, 19, and  20.
    The DS1 c hannels are assig ned  to slot and  c irc uit loc ations ac c ord ing  to the 
    ord er in whic h the mod ule p roc essor sc ans the equip ment c arrier as shown in 
    Tab le 6-7
    When the trad itional mod ule DS1/MFAT c arrier is c onfig ured  with two DS1s,

    To minimize c onfusion and  eliminate the need  for maintaining  elab orate trunk to 
    c hannel c ross-referenc e tab les, trunk group  memb er assig nments should  matc h 
    the DS1 c hannel assig nments; for examp le, trunk g roup  memb er 1 on c hannel 1. 
    For example, using  p roc ed ure 116, word  1, refer to Ta b l e  6 - 7
     to determine which 
    slot and  c irc uit to translate for c hannel 1. Rep eat this p roc ed ure b y seq uentially 
    selec ting  DS1 c hannels (2, 3, and  so on) and translating  the ap p ropriate slot and 
    c irc uits as req uired .
    Fields 1-5
    These field s are used  to translate the eq uip ment loc ation, inc lud ing  slot and  
    c irc uit (c hannel) loc ation, and to assoc iate the eq uip ment loc ation (c hannel) with 
    the p artic ular trunk g roup  translated  in field  6.
    Field 6
    Translates the trunk g roup . Permitted  enc od es must b e numb ers with the rang e 
    of 18 throug h 999.
    Field 7
    Translates a partic ular numb er that func tions as the nig ht servic e numb er. The 
    d ig its d ep end  on the partic ular ap p lic ation and  its numb ering  p lan.
    Field 8
    Disab les a c hannels sig naling . This disab le func tion is req uired  for estab lishing  
    a d ed ic ated  switc hed  c onnec tion. Field  enc od es and  their d esc rip tions are:
