The enc od es that are translated are g enerally d ep end ent on eac h trunk g roup , its ap p lic ation, and the assoc iated trunk g roups. Field 3 Determines the numb er of traveling c lass marks (TCMs) a trunk g roup will send and receive. Encodes are: Field 4 Used to selec t (1 ) or d isallow (0 ) symmetric al routing . Proc ed ure 285 field 5 is used to ad minister the symmetric al routing d ep th. If a c all enters the switc h on a trunk whic h has the network/tand em field s in p roc ed ure 103, word 1, set to 1,1 and the symmetric al routing d ep th field is set to a non-zero value, then the trunk g roup is p art of a symmetric al route. After a p attern is selec ted , p referenc es for whic h the outg oing trunk g roup has the network/tand em field s in Proc ed ure 103 set to 1,1 and for whic h the p referenc e numb er is g reater than the symmetric al routing d ep th are ig nored . If a c all enters the switc h on a trunk g roup that is p art of a symmetric al route (that is, p roc ed ure 103, word 1, field 4 is set to 1) and the symmetric al routing d ep th field for the switc h is set to a non-zero value, then symmetric al routing oc c urs. After a p attern is selec ted , p referenc es for whic h the outg oing trunk g roup has the symmetric al routing field in Proc ed ure 103 set and for whic h the preferenc e numb er is g reater than the symmetric al routing d ep th are ig nored . Fields 5-8 The ISDN-PRI d oes not p lac e any new or add itional c onsid erations on translating these field s. The enc od es that are translated are g enerally d ep end ent on eac h trunk g roup , its ap p lic ation, and the assoc iated trunk g roups. Field 9 The digit sending index for a given preference (digit sending index field in p roc ed ure 318, word 1) and Dial Tone Detec t Ignore field for the trunk g roup (procedure 103, word 1, field 9) determine when digit sending begins. An outg oing trunk seq uenc e is started after the outg oing trunk is seized . If Dial Tone is d etec ted d uring the trunk seq uenc e, the switc h remembers the d etec tion. 0 Do not send or exp ec t to rec eive any TCMs. 1 Send or exp ec t to rec eive the FRL TCM. 2 Send or exp ec t to rec eive the FRL and c ond itional routing TCMs.

If Dial Tone was not d etec ted d uring the trunk seq uenc e or the trunk g roup is ad ministered to Ignore Dial Tone, a timer is set b ased on the p ause leng th of the first digit sending group. If the first pause is 0, digit sending begins immediately. If Dial Tone is d etec ted while p ausing b efore send ing the first g roup and Dial Tone Detec t Ig nore is set to 0, p ausing is d isc ontinued and d igit send ing b eg ins immediately. Otherwise, digit sending begins when Pausing completes. Enc od es are: Fields 10-12 The ISDN-PRI d oes not p lac e any new or add itional c onsid erations on translating these field s. The enc od es that are translated are g enerally d ep end ent on eac h trunk g roup , its ap p lic ation, and the assoc iated trunk g roups. Field 13 This field affec ts how Network Digit Collec tion op erates and when route selec tion is attempted for network c alls arriving on a trunk g roup . The d ifferenc es b etween the two op tions for this field are easily illustrated with a simp le examp le. Supp ose a networks d ialing p lan has b een ad ministered in Proc ed ure 314 and that the p lan c onsists entirely of seven d igit ad d ress string s that are d ifferentiated b y their first three d ig its (i.e. they all have three d ig it string id entifiers). When a c all that arrives on a trunk g roup for whic h this field is zero enters Network Digit Analysis, an attemp t will b e mad e to c ollec t seven d ig its, and any ap plic ab le traveling c lass marks. Onc e these d ig its have b een c ollec ted , they are ap plied to the networks d ialing p lan, a Virtual Nod ep oint Id entifier is d etermined and route selec tion c ommenc es. When a c all that arrives on a trunk g roup for whic h this field is one enters Network Dig it Analysis, an attemp t will b e mad e to c ollec t three d igits. Sinc e all string s c an b e id entified (and a Virtual Nod ep oint Id entifier d etermined ) b y the first three digits, a route could be selected after reception of the third digit.
