STC 7645-46-47-48 - TYRON SAFETY BAND LAND ROVER STC 7645-46-47-48 - TYRON SAFETY BAND LAND ROVER 1. Break the bead (push the tyre sidewall away from the edge of the rim) on one side only. Note to tyre fitting depots:-If both beads are broken the bottom one would have moved upwards and then when the top one is pushed down to expose the ‘well’ there may not be sufficient room to fully expose it. Do not clamp on the standard tyre fitting machine. 2. One side of the tyre has to be pushed downwards to expose the ‘well’ in which the Tyron band sits. If the wheel is put on a flat surface it is difficult to push the tyre downwards enough. Find something on which to rest the wheel rim to raise the tyre from the work surface/floor. Note for tyre fitting depots:- Clamp an old wheel rim (preferably a size smaller than the wheel being fitted) onto the tyre fitting machine and this wheel can be used as a table on which to place the wheel being fitted with Tyron, or use a tyre fitters stool as shown in illustration 1. 3. Push the tyre sidewall downwards and fit the Tyron bands in the well, with the arrow (in thecentre of each band) pointing downwards (away from the valve). 4. Join the bands with one connector positioned across the valve. Keep bands clear of valve. 5. Join opposite ends of bands with other connector and tighten both connectors an equal distance if possible. Ideal tightening torque for both connectors is 7.5 - 9Nm (5.5 - 6.6 lbs/ft). 6. Connectors are supplied assembled in the correct order and should not be disassembled. 7. Reinflate the tyre. Fit a ‘Safety Wheel’ identification stickeron the rim near the valve. Rebalance on high performance vehicles. 8. Keep your fitting tool and instructions with the vehicle, your tyre fitter/repairer will need to use it when changing or repairing your tyres. GB ONLY FIT TO TUBELESS WHEEL ASSEMBLIES 1. FORWARD FACING From 9kg - 18kg (20lbs - 40lbs) i.e. Approximately 9 months - 5 years. IMPORTANT - DO NOT USE FORWARD FACING BEFORE THE CHILDS WEIGHT EXCEEDS 9KG LAND ROVER ACCESSORIESSTC 50013 CHILD SAFETY SEAT GB EXTREME HAZARD - DO NOT USE THE CHILD SAFETY SEAT IN PASSENGER SEATS EQUIPPED WITH AIRBAGS AN INCORRECT INSTALLATION COULD BE DANGEROUS SO PLEASE READ THESE FITTING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE COMMENCING INSTALLATION WARNINGS - IMPORTANT - READ THESE FIRST - SEE OVERLEAF Fitting Instructions • In the forward facing position the child safety seat is approved for use with either a 3-point adult lap and diagonal seat belt, adult lap belt possessing an ‘e’ or ’E’ approved label or kite mark, or with a fitting kit (available separate- ly). This child seat should only be used in the forward facing position for children weighing in excess of 9kg, able to sit unaided. • Seat belts vary in cars, a buckle resting on your seat can seriously affect your child’s safety. The child safety seat is designed and approved to the latest level of ECE R44. To suit more modern vehicles the standard routing should be followed unless the buckle is not clear of the frame of your seat, in which case the alternative routing method should be used. Installation using a 3-point adult lap and diagonal seat belt (Standard Routing). • Place the child safety seat in the recline position in any passenger seat which has a 3-point adult lap and diagonal belt fitted (Fig2) Pass the adult seat belt between the seat moulding and frame (Fig 2),fasten the seat belt. Now open the red lock off belt guide and place the diagonal belt under the red lock-off belt guide nearest to the side of the vehicle and make sure that the lap section of the adult 3-point lap and diagonal belt passes in front of the red lap belt guides. If necessary kneel on the child safety seat to push it into the vehicle seat, pull the diagonal belt up and ensure that both the lap and diagonal sections are tight, then push the red lock-off guide in to grip the seat belt. Installation using a 3-point adult lap and diagonal seat belt (Alternative Routing). • Follow the installation instructions for the standard routing above and then undo the adult seat belt and re-fasten it through the gap in the frame (Fig 2a). Installation using an adult lap belt (Standard Routing) • Place the child safety seat in the recline position in any rear passenger seat position which has an adult lap belt fitted. Pass the lap belt between the seat moulding and frame (Fig 3). Ensuring the lap belt is located in both red lap belt guides (Fig 3) and fasten the safety belt. Now push child seat downwards (using your bodyweight if necessary) whilst tightening the adult lap belt as far as possible. Ensure belt is not twisted. Installation using an adult lap belt (Alternative Routing). • Follow the installation instructions for the lap belt standard routing above. Then make sure the seat belt is threaded as shown in Fig 3a on the buckle side. Removal of your Child Safety seat. • To remove the seat, release the adult buckle and remove the belt from the frame. Lift seat clear of the car. Reclining the child safety seat. • To adjust the child safety seat from the upright to the reclined position, lift the recline handle and pull towards you until the lock- ing mechanism engages (Fig 1a) • To adjust from reclining position back to the upright position, lift the recline handle, gently lower the seat moulding until the locking mechanism engages. ALWAYS ENSURE THAT THE LOCKING MECHANISM IS FULL ENGAGED.Adjusting the harness. • Ensure the shoulder straps are threaded in the correct slots for the size of the child. Sit your child in the seat and fasten the buckle over the child by aligning the two shoulder strap tongues numbered (1) and (2) and press firmly into main buckle num- bered (3). (see Fig 6a). • The lap straps of the harness should be kept as low as possible on the hips so as to firmly hold the pelvis. Never towards the stomach. To tighten, ensure the straps are not twisted, pull at the end of the harness adjuster belt until the harness fits firmly around the child’s body. Finally, pull both harness sleeves down from your child’s shoulders onto the chest (Fig 4). Remember the harness sleeves are an important safety feature - NEVER use the child safety seat without them . To loosen the harness press the lever inclining it forward in the direction of the arrow and pull the shoulder straps with your other hand(Fig 4a overleaf).Adjusting the shoulder strap position. • Three pairs of slots are provided for the shoulder straps to enable the shoulder straps to be adjusted as the child grows (Fig 5). The correct pair of slots should be selected so that when the child is sitting in the child safety seat , the shoulder straps are attached at the same height as, or slightly above the child’s shoulders. The position of these straps must be adjusted as the child grows. If the shoulder straps require moving from one pair of slots to another, the harness sleeves must also be moved to the same pair of slots, adjust as follows: • Remove cover from top of seat shell. Remove shoulder straps from yoke (Fig 6) pull shoulder strap through exist- ing slot from inside of seat to the front of the child safety seat and out of the harness sleeves. Now remove the harness sleeves taking hold of one harness sleeve retaining metal harness slide at a time and twisting it so that a thin edge will go through the slot first. Push the slide through to the front of the child safety seat. (Fig 6b). • Now re-thread the harness sleeve retaining metal harness slide through your chosen shoulder slot in the cover and seat. Make sure it is not twisted. Now re-thread the shoulder strap through the harness sleeve and then through your chosen slot. Make sure the shoulder strap lies on top of the harness sleeve metal slide and is not twisted. Now thread the shoulder straps back onto yoke (Fig 6), it is essential that the straps always pass over the top rear tube. Ensure straps are not twisted, pull tight and replace seat cover. WARNINGS: 1. The Child Safety Seat must be fitted and used in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. An incorrect installation could be dangerous. 2. Car interiors can become very hot when left standing in direct sunlight and metal fittings on the seat and harness may become hot. It is therefore recommended that fittings that come into contact with the child are covered when the car is laft standing in direct sunlight. 3. Seat and harness assemblies which get damaged or become badlt worn or which have been involvrd in a serious accident must be replaced to maintain safety. 4. Do not place heavy objects on the parcel shelf which could, in the event of an accident, cause injury to passengers. Secure all loose luggage and sharp objects for the same purpose. 5. If you traval with passengers unsing the front and rear restraints, the lighter occupants should be in the rear seats and the heavier occupants in the front. 6. In the event of an emergency it is important that the child can be relesed quickly as defined by Regulations. This means that the buckle is not fully tamper proof and therefore your child should be persuaded not to play with the buckle when in use. 7. Ensure that no part of the child seat is trapped in a door or folding seat. If your vehicle has a folding seat ensure that it is correctly locked upright. 8. Under no circumstances should the harness be removed from the seat for use as a separate item. 9. Do not add to or modify this product in any way without prior consultation with the manufacturer, to do so could be dangerous. 10. Should your vision be restricted due to your personal preference of driving position using the Child Safety Seat in the rearward fac- ing position in the front of the vehicle, we then recommend you install the Child Safety Seat in the rear of the vehicle, rearward facing. 11. A child must NEVER be left unattended while restrained in or out of the vehicle.
