fi-6130 / fi-6230 Image Scanner Operators Guide TROUBLESHOOTING CONTENTS MAP TOP 3.14 Removing Punch Holes from Images You can remove (obscure) punch holes (black dots) from scanned docum\ ent images when scanning punched documents. Configure the Hole Punch Removal settings using the scanner driver. Original000000000 Created image The following shows the procedure to change settings in the setup dialog\ box of the FUJITSU TWAIN 32 Scanner Driver. 1. Place the document on the scanner. For how to load documents on the ADF paper chute, see Section 2.2 Loading Documents on the ADF for Scanning. For how to load documents on the Flatbed, see Section 2.3 Loading Documents on the Flatbed for Scanning [fi-6230 only]. 2. Launch ScandAll PRO. From the [Start] menu, select [All Programs] Õ [Fujitsu ScandAll PRO] Õ [Fujitsu ScandAll PRO] in the order presented. Then, ScandAll PRO starts up. 3. From ScandAll PRO, display the setup dialog box of FUJITSU TWAIN 32. For information about how to display the scanner drivers setup dialog b\ ox, see Section 2.6 How to Use ScandAll PRO. 4. In the TWAIN Driver dialog box, click the [Option] button.
The [Option] dialog box appears. 5. Select the [Rotation] tab. 6. Select [Automatic Page Size Detection] or [Black Background] from the [A\ utomatic Size and Skew detection] drop-down list. If you select a setting other than [Automatic Page Size Detection] or [B\ lack Background], [Hole punch removal] is not available.
7. Select [Fill with white] or [Background color] from the [Hole punch remo\ val] drop-down list. Fill with white:Punch hole marks are filled with white Background color : Punch hole marks are filled with a color most used around the holes. When scanning a color document, select [Background color]. If you select\ [Fill with white], punch holes will be filled with white. 8. Click the [OK] button. You are returned to the [TWAIN Driver] dialog box. 9. In the [TWAIN Driver] dialog box, click the [OK] button. Changes made are saved and the [TWAIN Driver] dialog box closes. 10. From the ScandAll PRO window, perform a scan. For information about how to scan documents, see Section 2.6 How to Use ScandAll PRO. Scanned document images are displayed in the ScandAll PRO window. Punch hole marks cannot be removed when: l Hole marks are not aligned along with the edge of the document. l Hole mark sizes vary or hole marks appear at various intervals. (Punch \ hole marks at various intervals can be removed when [Priority] is set to 3.) l The document is not rectangular. l The document of dark-colored background is scanned. l Characters or figures exist at the edge of the document, or characters o\ r figures overlap with hole marks. l With [Automatic Page Size Detection] enabled, the document of a size lar\ ger than the specified page size is scanned. l With [Black Background] selected, the document of a different size from \ the specified page size is scanned. HINT Depending on the documents, characters and/or graphics may be mistakenly\ detected as punch holes and filled with a color, or punch holes may not be filled wi\ th a color at all. fi-6130 / fi-6230 Image Scanner Operators Guide TROUBLESHOOTING CONTENTS MAP TOP 3.15 Scanning by Pressing the Scan Button on the Scanner With ScandAll PRO, you can perform batch scan at a press of the button, \ by assigning a Batch Scan profile to the [Scan] or [Send to] button. For details of assigning applications to the [Scan] an\ d [Send to] buttons, see Appendix 1 Before Using the [Scan] and [Send to] buttons. The following shows the procedure to do so. 1. From the [Start] menu, select [Control Panel]. 2. Select [Scanners and Cameras]. 3. Display the [fi-6130dj Properties] or [fi-6230dj Properties] dialog box.\ In Windows XP or Windows Server 2003, right-click on the [fi-6130dj] or \ [fi-6230dj] icon. In Windows 2000 or Windows Vista, double-click on the [fi-6130dj] or [fi\ -6230dj] icon. 4. Select the [Events] tab. 5. Select a button to use for an event. In Windows XP, from the [Select an event] drop-down list, select an even\ t to launch the application.
The following events can be selected: l Scan Button (Press the [Scan] button) l Send to 1 to 9 (With a number from 1 to 9 displayed on the Function Num\ ber Display, press the [Send to] button) 6. Select [ScandAll PRO] as the application to launch when an event occurs.\ In Windows XP, select [Start this program] under [Actions], and select a\ n application from the drop-down list on the right. 7. Click the [OK] button. HINT To link another button, perform steps 3 to 7 again. 8. Launch ScandAll PRO. From the [Start] menu, select [All Programs]Õ[Fujitsu ScandAll PRO]Õ[Fujitsu ScandAll PRO], and then ScandAll PRO starts up. 9. From the [Tool] menu, select [Preferences].
The [Setup] dialog box appears. 10. Select the [Event] tab. 11. Click the action of the Event you selected in step 5, and then select a \ profile from the list you want to use for scanning. HINT You have to create profiles beforehand. For information about how to create profiles, refer to Batch Scan in Section 2.6 How to Use ScandAll PRO. 12. Click the [OK] button. 13. Exit ScandAll PRO. When you press the linked button, ScandAll PRO starts up, and batch scan\ is executed according to the selected profile’s settings.
HINT Use the [Send to] button, following the procedure below: 1. Press the [Function] button, and change a number displayed on the Functi\ on Number Display. 2. When the displayed number and the event number you have selected in step\ 5 (Send to 1 - 9) matches, stop pressing the [Function] button. 3. Press the [Send to] button. fi-6130 / fi-6230 Image Scanner Operators Guide TROUBLESHOOTING CONTENTS MAP TOP 3.16 Splitting Documents by Patch Code ScandAll PRO supports a job separation function with patch code sheets. \ The patchcode-based job separation function can divide multiple pages of scanned images into pre-determined unit and save them \ to different folder separetely without interruption. A PDF or TIFF (multipage) file can be separated and stored as multiple f\ iles in pre-determined document unit. The procedure is described below. 1. Prepare patch code sheets. Two sizes (A4 and Letter) of PDF files are provided as patch code shee\ ts. Before using the job separation function with patch code sheets, select [Start]Õ[All Programs]Õ[Fujitsu ScandAll PRO]Õ[Patch Code (A4)] or [Patch Code (Letter)], and then print a PDF file of either Patch Code (A4) or Patch Code (\ Letter) as many as you need. Patch Code (A4) Image data of a patch code sheet with A4 size Patch Code (Letter) Image data of a patch code sheet with Letter size ATTENTION l Use white paper to print out patch code sheets. l To make photocopies of the printed patch code sheet, make the same size \ and same density of photocopies as the original patch code sheets. l Using the same patch code sheets repeatedly may decrease the recognition\ accuracy due to the dirt contaminated on the document. If the patch code\ sheets are not recognized correctly or get smudged, make new prints of the patc\ h code sheets. 2. Create a new batch profile on ScandAll PRO, and open the [Profile Editor\ ] window. For how to create a profile, see Batch Scan in Section 2.6 How to Use ScandAll PRO. 3. Click on the [Document separator] tab. 4. Mark the [Use Patchcode-Based Job Separation Sheet] checkbox.
HINT l To suppress scanning the patch code sheet images, check the [Remove sepa\ ration sheet] checkbox. l In duplex scan mode, you can disable scanning of the rear side of the pa\ tch code sheet by selecting the [Remove the next page of a separation sheet] chec\ kbox. 5. Insert patch code sheets to wherever you want the file/folder to separat\ e. 6. Specify the created batch profile, and then perform the batch scan.
