English-59 Auto Volume Each broadcasting station has its own signal conditions, and it is inconvenient to adjust the volume every time the channel is changed. “Auto Volume” automatically adjusts the volume of the desired channel by lowering the sound output when the modulation signal is high or by raising the sound output when the modulation signal is low. 1 Press the MENUbutton. The availability of these additional “multitracks” depends upon the program. 1 Press the MENUbutton. Press the EXITbutton to exit. Analog Alternate method Press the MTSbutton on the remote control repeatedly to select an external signal source. Choose “Stereo” for channels that are broadcasting in stereo. Choose “SAP” to listen to the Separate Audio Program, which is usually a foreign-language translation. English-62 Selecting the Internal Mute When using a device such as a Home Theater or Amplifier with external speakers, you can set Internal Mute to On to cut off sound from the TV's internal speakers. 1 Press the MENUbutton. Press the or button to select “Sound”, then press the ENTERbutton. 2 Press the or button to select “Internal Mute”, then press the ENTERbutton. 3 Press the or button to select “On”, then press the ENTERbutton. Pressing the or button will alternate between “On” and “Off”. Select “Return” by pressing the or button, then press the ENTERbutton to return to the previous menu. Press the EXITbutton to exit. The VOL +, VOL - and Mute buttons do not operate when the Internal Mute is set to On. When Internal Mute is on, only the “Multi-Track Options” menu is available in the Sound menu. To watch TV with an external speaker system such as a home theater system, set Internal Mute to On. When watching TV at night, set the "Energy Saving " mode option to "High" to reduce eye fatigue as well as power consumption. 1 Press the MENUbutton.
