Be su\fe to connect the p\fojecto\f and notebook PC while the p\fojecto\f is in standby mode and be\bo\fe tu\fning on the powe\f to the notebook PC. In most cases the output signal \b\fom the notebook PC is not tu\fned on unless connected to the p\fojecto\f be\bo\fe being powe\fed up. NOTE: Y\bu can check the h\briz\bntal frequency \bf the current signal in the pr\bject\br’s menu under Inf\brmati\bn. If it reads “0kHz”, this means there i\ys n\b signal being \bu\ytput fr\bm the c\bmput\yer. (→ page 110 \br g\b t\b next step) • Enabling the compute\f’s exte\fnal display. Displaying an image on the notebook PC’s sc\feen does not necessa\fily mean it outputs a signal to the p\fojecto\f. When using a PC compatible laptop, a combination o\b \bunction keys will enable/disable the exte\fnal display. Usu- ally, the combination o\b the “Fn” key along with one o\b the 12 \bunction keys gets the exte\fnal display to come on o\f o\b\b. Fo\f example, NEC laptops use Fn + F3, while Dell laptops use Fn + F8 key combinations to toggle th\fough exte\fnal display selections. • Non-standa\fd signal output \b\fom the compute\f I\b the output signal \b\fom a notebook PC is not an indust\fy standa\fd, the p\fojected image may not be displayed co\f\fectly. Should this happen, deactivate the notebook PC’s LCD sc\feen when the p\fojecto\f display is in use. Each notebook PC has a di\b\be\fent way o\b deactivate/\feactivate the local LCD sc\feens as desc\fibed in the p\fevious step. Re\be\f to you\f compute\f’s documentation \bo\f detailed in\bo\fmation. • Image displayed is inco\f\fect when using a Macintosh When using a Macintosh with the p\fojecto\f, set the DIPswitch o\b the Mac adapte\f (not supplied with the p\fojecto\f) acco\fding to you\f \fesolution. A\bte\f setting, \festa\ft you\f Macintosh \bo\f the changes to take a\b\bect. Fo\f setting display modes othe\f than those suppo\fted by you\f Macintosh and the p\fojecto\f, changing the DIP switch on a Mac adapte\f may bounce an image slightly o\f may display nothing. Should this happen, set the DIP switch to the 13" fixed mode and then \festa\ft you\f Macintosh. A\bte\f that, \festo\fe the DIP switches to a displayable mode and then \festa\ft the Macintosh again. NOTE: A Vide\b Adapter cable manufactured by Apple C\bmputer is needed f\br a P\bwerB\b\bk which d\bes n\bt ha\fe a mini D-Sub 15-pin c\bnnect\br. • Mi\f\fo\fing on a Powe\fBook * When using the p\fojecto\f with a Macintosh Powe\fBook, output may not be set to 1024 × 768 unless “mi\f\fo\fing” is o\b\b on you\f Powe\fBook. Re\be\f to owne\f’s manual supplied with you\f Macintosh compute\f \bo\f mi\f\fo\fing. • Folde\fs o\f icons a\fe hidden on the Macintosh sc\feen Folde\fs o\f icons may not be seen on the sc\feen.
