148 6. Connecting to O\uther Equi\fment Connecting to a Wi\ureless LAN (sold se\fa\urately) The sepa\fately sold wi\feless LAN unit allows you to use a wi\feless LAN envi\fonment. When using the p\fojecto\f in a wi\feless LAN envi\fonment, the IP add\fess and othe\f settings must be made on the p\fojecto\f. Imp\f\btant: • I\b you use the p\fojecto\f with the USB Wi\feless LAN Unit in the a\fea whe\fe the use o\b wi\feless LAN equipment is p\fohibited, \femove the USB Wi\feless LAN Unit \b\fom the p\fojecto\f. • Buy the app\fop\fiate USB Wi\feless LAN Unit \bo\f you\f count\fy o\f a\fea. NOTE: • The green LED \bn th\ye USB Wireless LAN \yUnit flashes t\b sh\bw\y that the USB Wire\yless LAN Unit is w\br\yking. • Y\bur c\bmputer’s wireless LAN adapt\yer (\br unit) must b\ye c\bmplied with Wi-\yFi (IEEE802.11b/g/n\y) standard. (→ page 117) Step 3: Select [NETWORK SETTINGS] → [WIRELESS LAN] → [PROFILES] and set [EASY CONNECTION], [PROFILE 1], or [PROFILE 2]. Mounting a wireless LAN unit CAUTION: • The wi\feless LAN unit is mounted inside the p\fojecto\f. Be\bo\fe mounting it, tu\fn o\b\b the powe\f, unplug the powe\f co\fd and let the p\fojecto\f cool down completely. Removing the filte\f unit while the p\fojecto\f is \funning could \fesult in bu\fns o\f elect\fic shocks \b\fom touching inte\fnal pa\fts. NOTE: • The wireless LAN unit has a fr\bnt and a back and must be m\bunted in the wireless LAN p\brt in a specific directi\bn. The p\brt is designed s\b that the unit cann\bt be m\bunted in the \bpp\bsite directi\bn, but trying t\b push it in by f\brce c\buld damage the wireless LAN unit p\brt. • T\b pre\fent damage due t\b static electricity, t\buch a nearby metal \bbject (a d\b\br kn\bb, aluminum sash, etc.) bef\bre t\buching the wireless LAN unit t\y\b eliminate the sta\ytic electricity fr\b\ym y\bur b\bdy. • Disc\bnnect the p\bwer\y c\brd when m\bunting \yand rem\b\fing the wir\yeless LAN unit. M\bunting and rem\b\fing the wireless LAN unit while the pr\bject\br’s p\bwer is \bn c\buld damage the wireless LAN unit \br result in malfuncti\bn \bn the pr\bject\br. If the pr\bject\br sh\buld malfuncti\bn, turn \bff the pr\bject\br’s p\bwer, unplug the p\bwer c\brd, then plug the p\bwer c\brd back \yin. • D\b n\bt c\bnnect any USB de\fice \bther than the wireless LAN unit t\b the USB (LAN) p\brt. Re\fove the filter cover. Pressi\bg the butto\bs o\b the left a\bd right sides of the filter \fover upwards, pull the filter \fover towards you to remove it. 3. Re\fove the filter unit. Pull the hooks o\b the left a\bd right sides of the filter u\bit towards you to remove the filter u\bit. 4. Slowly insert the wireless LAN unit into the USB (LAN) port. - Remove the wireless LAN u\bit’s \fap, set the u\bit with the fro\bt (the side with the i\bdi\fator) fa\fi\bg upwards, hold the ba\fk edge a\bd i\bsert the u\bit ge\btly. Next, press the wireless LAN u\bit i\b with a fi\bg\eer. - The \fap you have removed will be used whe\b the wireless LAN u\bit is removed, so store it i\b a safe pla\fe. NOTE: If the wirel\yess LAN unit is har\yd t\b insert, d\b n\bt \ypush it in by f\brce. 5. Mount the filter unit. I\bsert the filter u\bit o\bto the proje\ftor with the sides o\b whi\fh the left a\bd right hooks are lo\fated o\b the outside. 6. Mount the filter cover. I\bsert the 4 \fat\fhes o\b the top of the filter \fover i\bto the grooves i\b the proje\ftor, the\b press the left a\bd right butto\bs to \flose. - A \fli\fk is heard a\bd the filter \fover is faste\bed i\b pla\fe. If the wireless LAN u\bit is hard to remove, pla\fe a \floth, et\f., over \beedle- \bose pliers to grasp the wireless LAN u\bit a\bd pull it o\eut. NOTE: D\b n\bt grasp the wireless LAN unit with excessi\fe f\brce. D\bing s\b will damage it. 3. Mount the filter unit and filter cover as descri\bed in steps 5 and 6 a\bove.

Maintenance This section desc\fibes the simple maintenance p\focedu\fes you should \bollow to clean the filte\fs, the lens, the cabinet, and to \feplace the lamp and the filte\fs. 1 Cleaning the Filt\uers The ai\f-filte\f sponge keeps dust and di\ft \b\fom getting inside the p\fojecto\f and should be \b\fequently cleaned. I\b the filte\f is di\fty o\f clogged, you\f p\fojecto\f may ove\fheat. NOTE: The message f\br filter cleaning will be displayed f\br \bne minute after the pr\bject\br is turned \bn \br \bff. When the message is displayed, clean th\ye filters. The time\y t\b clean the filter\ys is set t\b [OFF] a\yt time \bf shipment. (→ page 100) T\b cancel the messag\ye, press any butt\bn \y\bn the pr\bject\br cab\yinet \br the rem\bte \yc\bntr\bl. The two-laye\f filte\f on the p\fojecto\f imp\foves cooling and dust-p\foo\b capabilities compa\fed with the conventional models. The outsides (intake side) o\b the fi\fst and second laye\f filte\fs \femove dust. To clean the filte\f, detach the filte\f unit and the filte\f cove\f. CAUTION • Be\bo\fe cleaning the filte\fs, tu\fn o\b\b the p\fojecto\f, disconnect the powe\f co\fd and then allow the cabinet to cool. Failu\fe to do so can \fesult in elect\fic shock o\f bu\fn inju\fies. 1. Push up the \buttons on the left and right to release the filter unit and pull it out. 2. 153 7. Maintenance (2) Push the left edges of the filters a\bd remove the two hard ho\bey\fomb filters. - The filters \fa\b\bot be removed by pressi\bg the left a\bd right edges. 4. Use a vacuu\f cleaner to vacuu\f all the dust inside. Get rid of dust i\b t\ehe a\f\fordio\b filter. NOTE: • Whene\fer y\bu \facuum the filter, use the s\bft brush attachment t\b \facuum. This is t\b \ya\f\bid damage t\b the \yfilter. • D\b n\bt wash the filter with water. D\bing s\b can result in filter cl\bgging. 5. Re\fove dust fro\f the filter unit and the filter cover. Clea\b both outside a\bd \ei\bside. 6. Attach the four filters to the filter unit. (1) I\bsert the hard ho\bey\fomb filters i\bto the tips of the fla\bges at the \fe\bter, the\b be\bd the filters a\bd push them i\b u\bder the hooks. - The filters \fa\b\bot be i\bserted from the outside. (2) Tur\b the filter u\bit over. Mou\bt the a\f\fordio\b filters u\bder the fla\bges alo\bg the outer edges. • Ea\fh a\f\fordio\b filter has slits i\b it. Alig\b the slits with the protrusio\bs o\b the filter u\bit. 7. Mount the filter unit \back onto the projector ca\binet. I\bsert the filter u\bit o\bto the proje\ftor with the sides o\b whi\fh the left a\bd right hooks are lo\fated o\b the outside. Slit Fla\bge Hook Hook

I\bsert the 4 \fat\fhes o\b the top of the filter \fover i\bto the grooves i\b the proje\ftor, the\b press the left a\bd right butto\bs to \flose. • Push the filter \fover u\btil it \fli\fks i\bto pla\fe. 9. Clear the filter usage hours. Plug the power \ford i\bto the wall outlet, a\bd the\b tur\b o\b the proje\ftor. From the me\bu, sele\ft [RESET] → [CLEAR FILTER HOURS]. 155 7. Maintenance 2 Cleaning the Lens\u • Tu\fn o\b\b the p\fojecto\f be\bo\fe cleaning. • The p\fojecto\f has a plastic lens. Use a comme\fcially available plastic lens cleane\f. • Do not sc\fatch o\f ma\f the lens su\f\bace as a plastic lens is easily sc\fatched. • Neve\f use alcohol o\f glass lens cleane\f as doing so will cause damage to the plastic lens su\f\bace. 3 Cleaning the Ca\bin\uet Tu\fn o\b\b the p\fojecto\f, and unplug the p\fojecto\f be\bo\fe cleaning. • Use a d\fy so\bt cloth to wipe dust o\b\b the cabinet. I\b heavily soiled, use a mild dete\fgent. • Neve\f use st\fong dete\fgents o\f solvents such as alcohol o\f thinne\f. • When cleaning the ventilation slits o\f the speake\f using a vacuum cleane\f, do not \bo\fce the b\fush o\b the vacuum cleane\f into the slits o\b the cabinet. Va\fuum the dust off the ve\btilatio\b sli\ets. • Clogged ventilation slits may cause a \fise in the inte\fnal tempe\fatu\fe o\b the p\fojecto\f, \fesulting in mal\bunction. • Do not sc\fatch o\f hit the cabinet with you\f finge\fs o\f any ha\fd objects • Contact you\f deale\f \bo\f cleaning the inside o\b the p\fojecto\f. NOTE: D\b n\bt apply \f\blatile agent such as insecticide \bn the cabinet, the lens, \br the screen. D\b n\bt lea\fe a rubber \br \finyl pr\bduct in pr\bl\bnged c\bntact \ywith it. Otherwise the surface finish will be\y deteri\brated \br th\ye c\bating may be str\yipped \bff.

Maintenance 4 Re\flacing the Lam\f\u and the Filters When the lamp \feaches the end o\b its li\be, the Lamp indicato\f in the cabinet will blink \fed and the message “THE LAMP HAS REACHED THE END OF ITS USABLE LIFE. PLEASE REPLACE THE LAMP AND FILTER. USE THE SPECIFIED LAMP FOR SAFETY AND PERFORMANCE.” will appea\f (*). Even though the lamp may still be wo\fking, \feplace the lamp to maintain the optimal p\fojecto\f pe\f\bo\fmance. A\bte\f \feplacing the lamp, be su\fe to clea\f the lamp hou\f mete\f. (→ page 113) CAUTION • DO NOT TOUCH THE LAMP immediately a\bte\f it has been used. It will be ext\femely hot. Tu\fn the p\fojecto\f o\b\b and then disconnect the powe\f co\fd. Allow at least one hou\f \bo\f the lamp to cool be\bo\fe handling. • Use the specified lamp \bo\f sa\bety and pe\f\bo\fmance. • DO NOT REMOVE ANY SCREWS except one lamp cove\f sc\few and two lamp housing sc\fews. You could \feceive an elect\fic shock. • Do not b\feak the glass on the lamp housing. Keep finge\f p\fints o\b\b the glass su\f\bace on the lamp housing. Leaving finge\f p\fints on the glass su\f\bace might cause an unwanted shadow and poo\f pictu\fe quality. • The p\fojecto\f will tu\fn o\b\b and go into standby mode when you continue to use the p\fojecto\f \bo\f anothe\f 100 hou\fs a\bte\f the lamp has \feached the end o\b its li\be. I\b this happens, be su\fe to \feplace the lamp. I\b you continue to use the lamp a\bte\f the lamp \feaches the end o\b its li\be, the lamp bulb may shatte\f, and pieces o\b glass may be scatte\fed in the lamp case. Do not touch them as the pieces o\b glass may cause inju\fy. Re\fove the la\fp housing.(1) Loosen the two sc\fews secu\fing the lamp housing until the phillips sc\fewd\five\f goes into a \b\feewheeling condi- tion. • The two sc\fews a\fe not \femovable. • The\fe is an inte\flock on this case to p\fevent the \fisk o\b elect\fical shock. Do not attempt to ci\fcumvent this inte\f - lock. (2) Remove the lamp housing by holding it. I\bterlo\fk Guide hole T\f \beplace the lamp: 1. Re\fove the la\fp cover. (1) Loosen the lamp cove\f sc\few • The lamp cove\f sc\few is not \femovable. (2) Pull the bottom o\b the lamp cove\f towa\fds you and \femove it. CAUTION: Make su\fe that the lamp housing is cool enough to be\bo\fe \femoving it.
