Understanding the Bluetooth Default Settings menu 1From the control panel, press or repeatedly until Setup is highlighted. 2Press . 3Press or repeatedly until Change Bluetooth Default Settings is highlighted. 4Press . 5After making your choices, press to save your selections as the default settings. Choosing On allows the printer to detect other compatible Bluetooth-enabled devices. SecuritySet the security level to Low or High. The default setting is Low, which allows Bluetooth-enabled devices to connect and send jobs to the printer without entering a pass key. If the security is set to High, a four-digit pass key is required before Bluetooth-enabled devices can connect to the printer. Pass KeySet or change the pass key. The default value is “0000”. Trusted Devices - Clear AllClear the list of Bluetooth-enabled devices allowed to communicate with the printer. Device NameView the Device Name and the Universally Administered Address (UAA) number automatically assigned to your Bluetooth-enabled device. Working with photos Retrieving and managing photos Inserting a memory card 1Insert a memory card. Insert the card with the brand name label facing up. If there is an arrow on the card, make sure it points toward the printer. 2Wait for the light located near the top memory card slot on the printer to come on. The light blinks to indicate the memory card is being read or is transmitting data. Warning—Potential Damage: Do not touch cables, any network adapter, the memory card, or the printer in the area shown while actively printing, reading, or writing from the memory card. A loss of data can occur. Also, do not remove the memory card while actively printing, reading, or writing from it. M S XD SD /M M C C F/M D PictBridge When the printer detects the memory card, the message Memory Card Detected appears on the control panel display. If the printer does not read the memory card, remove and reinsert it. Notes: The printer recognizes one memory card at a time. If you insert more than one memory card, a message appears on the display prompting you to remove all memory cards inserted. If a flash drive is inserted in the PictBridge port at the same time as a memory card is inserted in the card slot, a message appears on the display prompting you to choose which memory device to use. Inserting a flash drive 1Insert the flash drive into the PictBridge port on the front of the printer. MS XD SD/MMC CF/MD PictBridge Note: An adapter may be necessary if your flash drive does not fit directly into the port. 2Wait for the printer to recognize that a flash drive is installed. If the printer does not read the flash drive, remove and reinsert it. Transferring photos from a memory device to the computer using the control panel If the printer is connected directly to a computer, or connected to a computer through a wireless network connection, you can transfer photos from a memory card or flash drive to the computer. Notes: You cannot transfer photos from a memory device to a computer through an external network adapter. The printer may require that you select a computer (and a PIN if required by that computer). 1Insert a memory card or a flash drive that contains the images you want to transfer. 2After the memory device is detected, press . 3Press or repeatedly until Save Photos is highlighted. 4Press . 5Press or to select Computer. 6Press . If the computer is connected directly to the printer through a USB cable: aPress to begin saving photos to your computer. bFollow the instructions on the computer screen. If the printer is connected to a wireless network, you will be asked to select the computer that you want to use. aPress or to select a computer. bPress . If you set a PIN during network setup and are being asked for it: 1Enter the PIN using the and to select a digit location and the and to select a value for that digit. 2Press . cPress to begin saving photos to the computer. dFollow the instructions on the computer screen. The Productivity Studio software launches automatically on your computer. 2Click Automatically save all photos to “My Pictures.” 3If you want to erase the photos from the memory card, click Yes. Transferring selected photos from a memory card using the computer 1Insert a memory card into the printer with the brand name label facing up. The Productivity Studio software launches automatically on your computer. Note: For a wireless network connection, you must first open the application and then select the printer you want to use. 2Click Select photos to save. 3Click Deselect All. 4Click to select the photo(s) you want to transfer. 5Click Next. 6If you want to save the photos to the default folder, click Next. 7If you want to save the photos in a folder other than the default folder: aClick Browse. bSelect the folder you want. cClick OK. 8If you want to assign a prefix to all of the photos you just transferred, click the check box and enter a name. 9Click Next. 10If you want to erase the photos from the memory card, click Yes. Note: Make sure all the photos have been copied before you select Yes to erase. 11Click Done. Remove the memory card to view your transferred photos in the Library. Transferring selected photos from a CD or flash drive using the computer 1Insert a CD or a flash drive into the computer. 2If you are using Windows Vista, an “AutoPlay” screen appears. Click Transfer Photos to your computer using the Productivity Studio. 3If you are using Windows XP, a “What do you want Windows to do?” screen appears. Click Transfer Photos to your computer using the Productivity Studio. Transferring photos from a memory card to a flash drive 1Insert a memory card that contains the images you want to transfer. 2After the memory card is detected, press . 3Press or repeatedly until Save Photos is highlighted. 4Press . 5Press or to select USB Flash Drive. 6Insert the flash drive. 7Press . 8Press or to highlight your selection among the following options: Save All “N” Photos (where “N” is the number of photos on the memory card detected by the printer) Save Recent Date Photos Save Date Range 9Press . 10Follow the instructions on the control panel display of the printer. Notes: If there is not enough memory on the flash drive, a prompt appears on the display. Do not remove the flash drive until a message appears on the display indicating that copying is complete. Changing the Productivity Studio temporary files preferences 1From the desktop, double-click the Productivity Studio icon. 2From the Tools menu, click Preferences. 3Click Temporary Files. aUse the slider to set the maximum disk space you want to allocate for temporary files created by the Productivity Studio. bClick Browse to choose a different folder for saving the temporary files. 4Click OK. Changing the Productivity Studio searched folders preferences 1From the desktop, double-click the Productivity Studio icon. 2From the Tools menu, click Preferences. 3Click Searched Folders. 4If you want to exclude system folders when looking for photos, select Ignore system folders. 5Click OK. Changing the Productivity Studio library preferences 1From the desktop, double-click the Productivity Studio icon. 2From the Tools menu, click Preferences. 3Click Library. From here, you can choose how you want to sort photos. You can also set the minimum file size for the photo to appear in the library. 4Click OK. Changing the Productivity Studio transfer settings 1From the desktop, double-click the Productivity Studio icon. 2From the Tools menu, click Preferences. 3Click Transfer Settings. aSelect “Skip Save option and go automatically to”, and choose to Automatically Save, Manually Save, or Print your photos from the photo storage device connected to your computer. bClick Browse to choose a different folder to transfer your photos to. cSelect “Always erase photos from my media after transferring” to automatically delete photos from your photo storage device after transferring them to your computer. 4Click OK. Editing photos Editing photos using the control panel 1Load photo paper in Tray 1 or in the small media feeder. Note: Load the photo paper with the glossy or printable side facing down. Remove Red EyeReduce the red-eye effect caused by light reflection. Colorized EffectSelect whether to print a photo in black and white, sepia, antique brown, or antique gray. These effects can make photos appear old or antique. FramesSelect a frame for the photo. 9Make your selections using the control panel buttons. 10Press to save your changes. 11Press to go back to the photo. 12Press or to select the number of copies to print. Note: The number of copies is automatically set to 1. 13You can select more photos for printing and editing by repeating step 5 through step 12. 14Press to go to the print preview screen. 15If you want to adjust the print settings: aPress . bMake your selections using the control panel buttons. cPress to save your selections, and then go back to the print preview screen. 16Press to print. Note: To prevent smudging or scratching, avoid touching the printed surface with your fingers or sharp objects. For best results, remove each printed sheet individually from the paper exit tray, and allow the prints to dry at least 24 hours before stacking, displaying, or storing. Understanding the Photo Edit Mode menu Use the Photo Edit Mode menu to edit photos before printing.
