MAKING COPIES 10 - 3 Temporary Copy Settings You can improve your copies by using the Copy keys: Enlarge/Reduce, Quality and Options. These settings are temporary, and the MFC returns to its default settings 30 seconds after it finishes copying. If you want to use these temporary settings again, place the next original in the ADF or scanner glass before 30 seconds expire. Copying Using Multiple Settings You can try different combinations of settings for the best results. After you finish your settings using the Enlarge/Reduce, Quality and Options keys, the LCD shows: Press if you want to select additional settings. —OR— Press Black Copy or Color Copy if you are finished choosing settings. Using the Enlarge/Reduce Key ZOOM allows you to enter a ratio from 25% to 400% in 1% increments. Sorting Multiple Copies (Using the ADF) If you want to sort multiple copies, use the ADF. 1Place the original face up in the ADF. 2Use the dial pad to enter the number of copies you want (up to 99). 3Press Options and to select OPT:STACK/SORT, and then press Menu/ Set. 4Press to select SORT (or STACK), and then press Menu/Set. 5Press Black Copy or Color Copy—OR—Press for additional settings. Special Copy Options (Using the ADF) You can save paper by copying either two or four pages onto one page. 1Place the originals face up in the ADF. 2Use the dial pad to enter the number of copies you want. 3Press Options and to select OPT:SPECIAL, and then press Menu/Set. 4Press to select 2 IN 1, 4 IN 1 (or OFF), and then press Menu/Set. 5Press Black Copy or Color Copy—OR—Press for additional settings. If you selected 2 IN 1 or 4 IN 1 in Step 4, place the next original on the scanner glass, and then press Menu/Set. After all originals have been scanned, go to Step 5. If 2 in 1 or 4 in 1 copies are in color, you must use letter or A4 paper. For the other Special Copies, you must use letter, legal or A4 paper. Special Copy Options (2 in 1, 4 in 1 or Poster) are not available with Enlarge/Reduce. Poster is not available for multiple copies and requires using the scanner glass. If you selected GLOSSY in the Paper Type setting, 2 in 1 and 4 in 1 copies are not available. 2 in 1 or 4 in 1 copies in color are not available with Multiple Copies. END:PRESS COPY NEXT:PRESS SET

The following documents issued by the United States/Canadian Government or any of its Agencies may not be copied: •Paper money •Bonds or other certificates of indebtedness •Certificates of Deposit •Internal Revenue Stamps (canceled or uncanceled) •Selective Service or draft papers •Passports •United States/Canadian Postage Stamps (canceled or uncanceled) •Food Stamps •Immigration Papers •Checks or drafts drawn by Governmental agencies •Identifying badges or insignias Copyrighted works cannot be copied; however, sections of a copyrighted work can be copied for “fair use.” Multiple copies would indicate improper use. Works of art should be considered the equivalent of copyrighted works. Licenses and Certificates of Title to motor vehicles may not be copied under certain state/provincial laws.
11 - 1 USING THE MFC AS A PRINTER 1111Using the MFC as a Printer Features The Multi-Function Center offers you many features you’ll find in a high quality ink jet printer. Fast Printing Speed—Using Draft mode, you can print up to 8 pages per minute in full color, and up to 10 pages per minute in black. Brilliant High Quality Output—Printing at 2400 × 1200 dpi resolution on glossy paper gives you highest resolution output. Beautiful Elaborate Output—You can utilize 2 in 1, watermark printing, True2Life technology and other features for making beautiful outputs. Low Running Cost—Whenever you run out of a particular color ink, you’ll replace only the cartridge that’s empty. Bi-directional Parallel Interface—The parallel interface allows bi-directional (IEEE 1284 compliant) communication with your computer. USB—Universal Serial Bus Interface allows for fast comunication with your computer. Straight Paper Path—The MFC can use various types of paper: plain paper, Ink Jet Paper, glossy paper, transparencies, and envelopes. Using the appropriate paper reduces the occurrence of paper jams.
