4 Copying Xerox PE2204-7 Special Copy Features You can use the following copy features: •Off: Prints in normal mode. •Clone: Prints multiple image copies from the original document on a single page. The number of images is automatically determined by the original image and paper size. See Clone Copying on page 4-7 •Copy Collate: Sorts the copy job. For example, if you make 2 copies of a 3 page document, one complete 3 page document will print followed by the second complete document. See Collation Copying on page 4-8. •Auto Fit: Automatically reduces or enlarges the original image to fit on the paper currently loaded in the machine. See Auto Fit Copying on page 4-8 •ID Card Copy: Prints 2-sided ID cards on one sheet of paper. See ID Card Copying on page 4-8 •2/4 Up: Prints 2 or 4 original images reduced to fit onto one sheet of paper. See 2 Up or 4 Up Copying on page 4-9. •Poster: Prints an image onto 9 sheets of paper (3x3). You can paste the printed pages together to make one poster-sized document. See Poster Copying on page 4-9. NOTE: Some features may not be available depending on where you loaded the document, on the document glass or in the Automatic Document Feeder. Clone Copying This special copy feature can be applied only when you place a document on the document glass. If a document is detected in the ADF, Clone copying feature does not work. 1.Place the document to be copied on the document glass, and close the cover. 2.Press Menu until “Copy Feature” appears on the top line of the display. 3.Press the scroll button ( or ) until “Clone” displays on the bottom line. 4.Press Enter to make your selection. 5.If necessary, customize the copy settings, including Lighten/Darken and original type, by using the control panel buttons. See “Selecting Copy Options” on page 4-5. 6.Press Start to begin copying. NOTE: You cannot adjust the copy size using the Reduce/Enlarge button while making a clone copy. 4 Copying 4-8Xerox PE220 Collation Copying This special copy feature is available only when you load documents in the ADF. 1.Load the documents to be copied in the ADF. 2.Press Menu until “Copy Feature” appears on the top line of the display. 3.Press the scroll button ( or ) until “Copy Collate” displays on the bottom line. 4.Press Enter to make your selection. 5.If necessary, customize the copy settings, including Lighten/Darken and original type, by using the control panel buttons. See “Selecting Copy Options” on page 4-5. 6.Press Start to begin copying. Auto Fit Copying This special copy feature can be applied only when you place a document on the document glass. If a document is detected in the ADF, Auto Fit copying does not work. 1.Place the document to be copied on the document glass, and close the cover. 2.Press Menu until “Copy Feature” appears on the top line of the display. 3.Press the scroll button ( or ) until “Auto Fit” appears on the bottom line. 4.Press Enter to make your selection. 5.If necessary, customize the copy settings, including Lighten/Darken and original type, by using the control panel buttons. See “Selecting Copy Options” on page 4-5. 6.Press Start to begin copying. NOTE: You cannot adjust the copy size using the Reduce/Enlarge button while Auto Fit copying is enabled. ID Card Copying You can copy both sides of the ID Card to a single side of paper. When you copy using this feature, the machine prints one side of the card on the upper half of the paper and the other side on the lower half without reducing the size of the original. If the original is larger than the printable area, some portions may not be printed. This special copy feature can be applied only when you place a document on the document glass. 4 Copying Xerox PE2204-9 1.Place the ID Card to be copied on the document glass and close the cover. 2.Press Menu until “Copy Feature” appears on the top line of the display. 3.Press the scroll button ( or ) until “ID Card Copy” displays on the bottom line. 4.Press Enter to confirm your selection. 5.If necessary, customize the copy settings, including Lighten/Darken and original type, by using the control panel buttons. See “Selecting Copy Options” on page 4-5. 6.Press Start to begin copying. Your machine begins scanning the front side. 7.When “Set Backside” displays on the bottom line, open the document cover and turn the card over. Close the cover. 8.Press Start again. NOTE: If you press the Stop/Clear button or if no buttons are pressed for approximately 30 seconds, the machine cancels the copy job and returns to Standby mode. 2 Up or 4 Up Copying This copy feature is available only when you load documents in the ADF. 1.Load the documents to be copied in the ADF. 2.Press Menu until “Copy Feature” appears on the top line of the display. 3.Press the scroll button ( or ) until “2 UP” or “4 UP” displays on the bottom line. 4.Press Enter to make your selection. 5.If necessary, customize the copy settings, including Lighten/Darken and original type, by using the control panel buttons. See “Selecting Copy Options” on page 4-5. 6.Press Start to begin copying. NOTE: You cannot adjust the copy size using the Reduce/Enlarge button for making a 2 or 4 Up copy. Poster Copying This special copy feature can be applied only when you place a document on the document glass. 4 Copying Xerox PE2204-11 Copy Setup The copy settings on the machine can be customised to suit your copying requirements. Changing the Default Settings The copy options, including lighten/darken, original type, copy size and copy quantity, can be set to the most frequently used modes. When you copy a document, the default settings are used unless they are changed by using the corresponding buttons on the control panel. To c reate your own default settings: 1.Press Menu on the control panel until “Copy Setup” appears on the top line of the display. The first menu item, “Default-Change”, appears on the bottom line. 2.Press Enter to access the menu item. The first setup option, “Lighten/Darken”, appears on the bottom line. 3.Press the scroll button ( or ) to scroll through the setup options. 4.When the option you want to set appears, press Enter to access the option. 5.Change the setting using the scroll button ( or ). Values can be entered using the number keypad. 6.Press Enter to save the selection. 7.Repeat steps 3 through 6, as needed. 8.To return to Standby mode, press Stop/Clear. NOTE: While you are setting copy options, pressing Stop/Clear cancels the changed settings and restores their default status. Setting the Time Out Option You can set the time the machine waits before it restores the default copy settings after a selection has been made. 1.Press Menu on the control panel until “Copy Setup” appears on the top line of the display. 2.Press the scroll button ( or ) to display “Timeout” on the bottom line. 3.Press Enter to access the menu item. 4.Press the scroll button ( or ) until the status you want appears on the display. You can select from 15, 30, 60, and 180 (seconds). Selecting “Off” means that the machine does not restore the default settings until you press Start to begin copying, or Stop/Clear to cancel. 5.Press Enter to make your selection. 6.To return to Standby mode, press Stop/Clear. 4 Copying 4-12Xerox PE220 Setting the Favorite Copy Option A copy feature can be assigned to the Favorite Copy button for quick access to that feature. 1.Press Menu on the control panel until “Copy Setup” appears on the top line of the display. 2.Press the scroll button ( or ) to display “Favorite Copy” on the bottom line. 3.Press Enter to access the menu item. 4.Press the scroll button ( or ) until the feature you want appears on the display. You can select from Clone, Copy Collate, Auto fit, ID Card Copy, 2 Up, 4 Up, and Poster. See Special Copy Features on page 4-7 for details about each feature. 5.Press Enter to make your selection. 5Printing 5-2Xerox PE220 Printing a Document This machine allows you to print in various Windows applications, a Macintosh computer, or a Linux system. The exact steps for printing a document may vary depending on the application you use. Canceling a Print Job If the print job is waiting in a print queue or print spooler, such as the Printer group in Windows, delete the job as follows: 1.Click the Windows Start button. 2.For Windows 98/NT4.0/2000/Me, select Settings and then Printers. For Windows XP, select Printers and Faxes. 3.Double-click the printer driver for this printer. 4.From the Document menu, select Cancel Printing (Windows 98/Me) or Cancel (Windows NT 4.0/2000/XP). NOTE: You can also access this window by simply double-clicking the printer icon at the bottom right corner of the Windows desktop. Installing Printer Software All applications should be closed on your PC before beginning installation. Installing Xerox Drivers in Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2000 using the USB port 1.Plug the USB cable into the PE220 and connect it to your Personal Computer (PC). Start your PC and turn on the PE220. 2.Insert the Xerox Drivers CD into the CD-ROM drive. 3.The Found New Hardware Wizard will display. Confirm that the radio button Install the software automatically is chosen. Click Next. 4.The Wizard will begin to install the scan driver for the PE220. 5.When the Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard screen dis- plays click Finish. The scan driver for the PE220 is now loaded. 6.The Found New Hardware Wizard will display. Confirm that the radio button Install the software automatically is chosen. 5Printing 5-4Xerox PE220 8.The Hardware Wizard will search the CD-ROM drive for the print driver and will display the following screen. 9.When the Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard screen dis- plays click Finish. The print driver for the PE220 is now loaded. Installing Xerox Drivers in Microsoft Windows XP, 2000 or Windows 98/ME using the Parallel port 1.Plug the Parallel cable into the PE220 and connect it to your Personal Computer (PC). Start your PC and turn on the PE220. 2.Insert the Xerox Drivers CD into the CD-ROM drive. In Microsoft Win- dows click Start and then Run. Type E: Xinstall.exe, replacing E with the letter of your CD-ROM drive and click OK. 3.When the language selection window appears, select the appropriate language and then click Continue.
