Editing without setting the edit IN point (park & edit)
Editing can be performed without setting the VTR1
    and VTR2 IN points.
1Operate VTR1 and VTR2, and locate the places
which will serve as the IN points.
    2Press the PREVIEW button.
The position where the PREVIEW button was
pressed is automatically set as the edit IN point,
    and preview is executed.
When the OUT points have not been set either,
press the MARK OUT button during the preview at
the place which is to serve as the OUT point.
The position where the MARK OUT button was
pressed is automatically set as the edit OUT point.
To proceed with editing while skipping the preview,
press the AUTO EDIT button in step
    2instead of the
PREVIEW button, and proceed with editing.
The position where the AUTO EDIT button was
pressed is automatically set as the IN point, and
    editing is executed.
3Press the AUTO EDIT button to proceed with
    editing.
Editing using the edit IN point setting only (open-ended editing)
    1Set the VTR1 and VTR2 IN points.
2Press the PREVIEW button to proceed with
    preview.
3During the preview, press the MARK OUT button
at the place which will serve as the OUT point.
To proceed with editing while skipping the preview,
press the AUTO EDIT button in step
    2instead of the
PREVIEW button, and proceed with editing.
Press the AUTO EDIT button or the MARK OUT
button at the position where editing is to be ended.
The position where the button was pressed is
    registered as the OUT point.
    Auto tag editing
With this editing function, the registered edit OUT
point is automatically set as the edit IN point of the
    next editing session (next event).
This enables continuous editing from one event to the
next without the need to set the IN points.
This function comes in handy for same position
    editing.
1Select REC1, REC2 or ALL as the setup menu
    item No.313 (AUTO ENTRY) setting.
(This selects the VTR whose IN point is to be
    automatically set.)
    2Proceed with automatic editing.
3When the editing of one event is completed and it
carries over to the next event, the IN point of the
    VTR selected in step
    1has already been set so
that the remaining edit points are set, and the next
    event is edited.

    							62
    Still-picture editing/slow-motion editing
1Set the IN point and OUT point of VTR1 (player) at
    the same position.
After VTR1 has been selected using the VTR1
button, press the MARK IN and MARK OUT
buttons together to set the IN point and OUT point
    at the same position.
2Select VTR2 using the VTR2 button, and set the IN
point and OUT point of VTR2 (recorder)
    respectively.
Even when only the IN point is set, open-ended
    editing is possible.
3Select VTR1 (player), and turn the search dial to
run the tape at the actual desired speed.
In the case of still-picture editing, set the speed to
    0a
    (SHTL 0, STILL).
The slow-motion speeds that can be selected are
    0a
    , 0.03a
    , 0.1a
    , 0.2a
    , 0.3a
    and 0.43a
    (forward
    direction).
4Press the AUTO EDIT button to proceed with
editing. The speed of VTR1 (player) when the
AUTO EDIT button was pressed is captured, and
    slow-motion editing is executed.

OStill-picture editing or slow-motion editing is
possible when the OPERATION MODE switch has
    been set to INT.
OIn the case of slow-motion editing, no guarantees
are given for the editing accuracy.
    TC jump function
Normally, editing cannot be performed properly if
there is any discontinuity in the time codes during the
    preroll period.
However, if the TC jump function is used, the preroll
period can be edited using CTL as the reference, and
the edit memory period after the IN point can be
edited using the time code as the reference. The counter display shows the time code at all times,
and even if there is discontinuity in the time codes
during the preroll period, editing can be performed as
if the time codes were continuous.
1Select VTR1, VTR2 or ALL as the setup menu item
    No.571 (TC JUMP) setting.
(This selects the VTR or VTRs which will be used
    for the TC jump function.)
    2Proceed with normal editing.
When the TC jump function is used, the tape is cued
up to the IN point during preview, automatic editing or
review, and then preroll is commenced. This happens
because preroll and run-up are executed using CTL at
the cued-up IN point as the reference.
After run-up, when the edit recording mode is
established again from the IN point, the editing
reference changes from CTL to TC.
    Preroll point IN point

connector from the left as seen from the rear
    panel).
4Set the VTR2 AUDIO INPUT selector switch
(ANALOG/SDI/INT) for the recording channel to
    the ANALOG position.
5Set the VTR2 AUDIO INPUT selector switch
(channel selector) for the recording channel to
    the audio signal input channel.
    6Insert the voice-over cassette tape into VTR2.

9Check the pictures while watching the VTR2
monitor screen, and press the MARK IN button
when the tape reaches the voice-over position
    (IN point).
10Input the sound to be recorded (from the
microphone, etc.) while the unit remains in the
    PLAY mode.
11Press the MARK OUT button at the OUT point.
The sound which was input from the IN point to
the OUT point is now stored in the internal
    memory.
Twenty seconds after this information is written
into the internal memory, “o” appears on the
superimposed display to indicate that the
memory is now full. (See page 85)
12Press the AUTO EDIT button to execute editing.
The sound stored in the memory is now
recorded on the tape. Take the steps below to add sound (audio dubbing,
voice-over) while watching the pictures played back.
The sound to be recorded is first stored in the memory
and then recorded on the tape by the steps described
below so that the recording can be performed at the
precise time at the location where the sound is to be
added.(The unit’s internal memory can store about 20
    seconds of sound.)

Sound can be recorded on CH1 and CH2 channels
    only.
