How can I match a particular color (such as a corporate logo)? From the printer Quality menu, nine types of Color Samples sets are available. These are also available from the Color Samples page of the Embedded Web Server. Selecting any sample set generates a multiple‑page printout consisting of hundreds of colored boxes. Either a CMYK or RGB combination is located on each box, depending on the table selected. The observed color of each box is obtained by passing the CMYK or RGB combination labeled on the box through the selected color conversion table. By examining Color Samples sets, a user can identify the box whose color is the closest to the desired color. The color combination labeled on the box can then be used for modifying the color of the object in a software program. For more information, see the software program Help topics. Manual color correction may be necessary to utilize the selected color conversion table for the particular object. Selecting which Color Samples set to use for a particular color‑matching problem depends on the Color Correction setting being used (Auto, Off, or Manual), the type of object being printed (text, graphics, or images), and how the color of the object is specified in the software program (RGB or CMYK combinations). When the printer Color Correction setting is set to Off, the color is based on the print job information; and no color conversion is implemented. Note: The Color Samples pages are not useful if the software program does not specify colors with RGB or CMYK combinations. Additionally, certain situations exist in which the software program or the computer operating system adjusts the RGB or CMYK combinations specified in the program through color management. The resulting printed color may not be an exact match of the Color Samples pages. What are detailed Color Samples and how do I access them? Detailed Color Samples sets are available only through the Embedded Web Server of a network printer. A detailed Color Samples set contains a range of shades (displayed as colored boxes) that are similar to a user‑defined RGB or CMYK value. The likeness of the colors in the set are dependent on the value entered in the RGB or CMYK Increment box. To access a detailed Color Samples set from the Embedded Web Server: 1Type the printer IP address or host name in the address field of your Web browser. Note: If you do not know the IP address or host name of the printer, then you can: View the information on the printer control panel home screen, or in the TCP/IP section under the Networks/Ports menu. Print a network setup page or menu settings page and locate the information in the TCP/IP section. 2Click Configuration > Color Samples > Detailed Options. 3Select a color conversion table. 4Enter the RGB or CMYK color number. 5Enter an increment value from 1–255. Note: The closer the value is to 1, the narrower the color sample range will appear. 6Click Print. Troubleshooting291
Embedded Web Server does not open Try one or more of the following: CHECK THE NETWORK CONNECTION Make sure the printer and computer are turned on and connected to the same network. CHECK THE ADDRESS ENTERED IN THE WEB BROWSER Depending on the network settings, you may need to type “https://” instead of “http://” before the printer IP address to access the Embedded Web Server. For more information, contact your system support person. Make sure printer IP address is correct. TEMPORARILY DISABLE WEB PROXY SERVERS Proxy servers may block or restrict you from accessing certain Web sites including the Embedded Web Server. For more information, contact your system support person. Contacting customer support When you call customer support, describe the problem you are experiencing, the message on the display, and the troubleshooting steps you have already taken to find a solution. You need to know your printer model type and serial number. For more information, see the label on the inside top front cover of the printer. The serial number is also listed on the menu settings page. In the U.S. or Canada, call 1‑800‑539‑6275. For other countries or regions, visit the Lexmark Web site at http://support.lexmark.com. Note: Some modes may not apply to your product. ModeDescriptionPower consumption (Watts) Printing The product is generating hard‑copy output from electronic inputs. 870 Copy The product is generating hard‑copy output from hard‑copy original documents. 1000 Scan The product is scanning hard‑copy documents. 110 Ready The product is waiting for a print job. 75 Sleep Mode The product is in a high‑level energy‑saving mode. 17 Hibernate The product is in a low‑level energy‑saving mode. 0.75 Off The product is plugged into a wall outlet, but the power switch is turned off. 0 The power consumption levels listed in the previous table represent time-averaged measurements. Instantaneous power draws may be substantially higher than the average. Values are subject to change. See www.lexmark.com for current values. Notices298
Sleep Mode This product is designed with an energy-saving mode called Sleep Mode. The Sleep Mode saves energy by lowering power consumption during extended periods of inactivity. The Sleep Mode is automatically engaged after this product is not used for a specified period of time, called the Sleep Mode Timeout. Factory default Sleep Mode Timeout for this product (in minutes): 5 (XS795); 20 (all other printer models) By using the configuration menus, the Sleep Mode Timeout can be modified between 1 minute and 240 minutes. Setting the Sleep Mode Timeout to a low value reduces energy consumption, but may increase the response time of the product. Setting the Sleep Mode Timeout to a high value maintains a fast response, but uses more energy. Hibernate Mode This product is designed with an ultra‑low power operating mode called Hibernate mode. When operating in Hibernate Mode, all other systems and devices are powered down safely. The Hibernate mode can be entered in any of the following methods: Using the Hibernate Timeout Using the Schedule Power modes Using the Sleep/Hibernate button Factory default Hibernate Timeout for this product in all countries or regions 3 days The amount of time the printer waits after a job is printed before it enters Hibernate mode can be modified between one hour and one month. Off mode If this product has an off mode which still consumes a small amount of power, then to completely stop product power consumption, disconnect the power supply cord from the electrical outlet. Total energy usage It is sometimes helpful to calculate the total product energy usage. Since power consumption claims are provided in power units of Watts, the power consumption should be multiplied by the time the product spends in each mode in order to calculate energy usage. The total product energy usage is the sum of each modes energy usage. Industry Canada compliance statement This Class A digital apparatus meets all requirements of the Canadian Interference-Causing Equipment Standard ICES-003. Avis de conformité aux normes de l’industrie du Canada Cet appareil numérique de classe A est conforme aux exigences de la norme canadienne relative aux équipements pouvant causer des interférences NMB-003. Notice to users of the US telephone network: FCC requirements This equipment complies with Part 68 of the FCC rules and the requirements adopted by the Administrative Council for Terminal Attachments (ACTA). On the back of this equipment is a label that contains, among other information, a product identifier in the format US:AAAEQ##TXXXX. If requested, this number must be provided to your telephone company. This equipment uses the RJ-11C Universal Service Order Code (USOC) jack. A plug and jack used to connect this equipment to the premises’ wiring and telephone network must comply with the applicable FCC Part 68 rules and requirements adopted by the ACTA. A compliant telephone cord and modular plug is provided with this product. It is designed to be connected to a compatible modular jack that is also compliant. See your setup documentation for more information. The Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) is used to determine the number of devices that may be connected to a telephone line. Excessive RENs on a telephone line may result in the devices not ringing in response to an incoming call. In most but not all areas, the sum of RENs should not exceed five (5.0). To be certain of the number of devices that may be connected to a line, as determined by the total RENs, contact your local telephone company. For products approved after July 23, 2001, the REN for this product is part of the product identifier that has the format US:AAAEQ##TXXXX. The digits represented by ## are the REN without a decimal point (for example, 03 is a REN of 0.3). For earlier products, the REN is shown separately on the label. If this equipment causes harm to the telephone network, the telephone company will notify you in advance that temporary discontinuance of service may be required. If advance notice is not practical, the telephone company will notify the customer as soon as possible. You will also be advised of your right to file a complaint with the FCC. The telephone company may make changes in its facilities, equipment, operations or procedures that could affect the operation of this equipment. If this happens, the telephone company will provide advance notice in order for you to make necessary modifications to maintain uninterrupted service. Notices300
