							Standards for Ozone
Standards for exposure to ozone have been established by the Department
of Labor - Occupational Health & Safety Administration (DOL-OSHA) and
the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH).
These standards are 0.1 ppm as a ceiling limit. All LaserJet family printers
meet these standards when shipped from the factory.
Recommendations for Minimizing Ozone
Exposure
Some people are extremely sensitive to ozone. In such cases, it is advisable
to position the printer away from the sensitive user, or more frequent filter
replacement may be necessary. 
Almost all ozone concerns arise from abnormal site or operating conditions.
The following conditions may generate an ozone complaint:
·Installation of multiple laser printers in a confined area
·Extremely low relative humidity
·Poor room ventilation
·The exhaust port of the printer is directed toward the faces of personnel
·The existing ozone filter is in poor condition
·Long, continuous printing combined with any of the above
Inspect your work environment for the operating conditions listed above if
you believe ozone emissions are a problem in your area. (The employer is
responsible for providing a work environment that meets these
requirements.)
The ozone filter is user-replaceable and is part of the Toner Collection Kit. It
should be changed at the same time as the collection kit. Replacement is
indicated on the printer control panel display after the equivalent of 20,000
black and white pages (approximately) have been printed. See Chapter 6 or
information on changing the ozone filter.
NoteTo maximize the effectiveness of the ozone filter, set the printer’s “power
save” mode to be initiated after 15 minutes (refer to Chapter 5 of the
printer’s user’s guide). Since the fan is turned off during the power save
mode, less dust is deposited onto the ozone filter. The accumulation of dust
on the filter will eventually reduce its effectiveness.

SIMM Installation
To Install a SIMM
CAUTION Wear an antistatic wrist strap or touch the surface of the antistatic package
before removing the board from its package. When handling the board, wear
an antistatic wrist strap or frequently touch bare metal on the printer.
Follow the instructions in this appendix to install your AdobeÔ PostScriptÔ
SIMM board.

and print out a self test page. If the SIMM has been installed properly,

							Switchbox Operation
If you are using a mechanical switchbox:
·Do not switch when the printer is printing or receiving data (that is, when
the Data light is blinking).
·Do not switch to a host computer that is off, then switch that computer on.
The computer can appear to be sending data.  If a 22 I/O CONFIG ERROR
appears on the printer’s display, reset the printer by using the [RESET] key.
