InstallationProcedure ToinstallDIMMs,followthesesteps: 1.Powerofftheserveranddisconnectallthepowerandexternalcables. 2.Removetheservercover.(See“RemovingandReplacingServerCoversandBezels” (page52).) 3.Removethememoryairflowguide.(See“RemovingtheMemoryAirflowGuide”(page65).) CAUTION:Toensurethatmemorymodulesarenotdamagedduringremovalorinstallation, powerofftheserverandunplugthepowercordfromtheACpoweroutlet.Waituntilthe LEDonthebackofthepowersupplyturnsoffbeforeremovingorinstallingmemory. 4.LocatetheslotintowhichtheDIMMwillbeinstalled.Holdingthememorymodulebyits leftandrightedges,insertthemoduleintothesocketconnector(Figure3-31.) NOTE:Thememorymodulesarekeyedandcanonlybeinsertedinonedirection.When themoduleiscorrectlyseated,theretainerclipsreturntotheirfullyuprightposition.Snap theclipsfirmlyintoplacetoensurethattheDIMMsareseatedproperly. 5.EvenlypushdownfirmlyoneachendoftheDIMMuntilitseatsinthesocket.Ensurethe extractionleversareintheclosedposition.
