    Toensuresafehandlingofcomponents,preventpersonalinjury,andpreventdamagetothe
    server,followtheprocedureslistedbelow:
    •Ifremovingorinstallingahot-swaporhot-plugitem,followtheinstructionsprovidedin
    thisguide.
    •Ifinstallingahot-swappableitemwhenpowerisapplied(fansarerunning),reinstallthe
    servercoverimmediatelytopreventoverheating.
    •Ifinstallinganassemblythatisnothot-swappable,disconnectthepowercablesfromthe
    serverexternalpowerconnectors.
    WARNING!Ensurethattheserverispoweredoffandallthepowersourceshavebeen
    disconnectedfromtheserverbeforeworkingwiththeserver.
    VoltagesarepresentatvariouslocationswithintheserverwheneveranACpowersource
    isconnected.Thisvoltageispresentevenwhenthemainpowerswitchisintheoffposition.
    Failuretoobservethiswarningcanresultinpersonalinjuryordamagetoequipment.

    fromthechassis.Thissectionexplainshowtoremoveandreplacetheservercoversandbezel
    forrack-mountandpedestal-mountconfigurations.
    WARNING!Donotremovetheservercoverwithoutfirstturningtheserveroffandunplugging
    thepowercordfromtheoutletorpowerprotectiondeviceunlessyouareonlyreplacinga
    hot-swappablefan.Alwaysreplacethecoverbeforeturningtheserveron.
    AccessingaRack-MountServer
    HP9000rp3410andrp3440serversaredesignedtoberackmounted.Thefollowingprocedure
    explainshowtogainaccesstoaserverthatismountedinanapprovedrack.Forslideinstallation
    instructions,seetheInstallationGuide,Mid-WeightSlideKit(HPpartnumber5065-7291).
    WARNING!Ensurethatallanti-tipfeatures(frontandrearanti-tipfeetinstalled;adequate
    ballastproperlyplaced,andsoon.)areemployedbeforeextendingtheserver.
    Toaccesstheinternalcomponentsonarack-mountedserver,pulltheserveroutontotherail
    guidesandremovethetopcover.
    ExtendingtheServerFromtheRack
    NOTE:Ensurethatthereisenougharea(approximately1.5meters[4.5ft.])tofullyextendthe
    serveroutthefronttoworkonit.
    Toextendtheserverfromtherack,followthesesteps:
    NOTE:Ifyouarereplacingahot-swappableitem,youcanleavetheserveronandexternal
    cables(includingthepowercord)connected.
    1.Powerofftheserveranddisconnectthepowerandexternalcablesfromthebackofthe
    server.
    2.Releasetheracklatchesbyrotatingthemoutward.
