    Load afew sheets ofplain paper inthe cassette (orincassette 1ifyour product hastwocassettes).

    Press the homebutton, ifnecessary.
     3.
    Select Setup,then press OK.
     4.
    Select Maintenance ,then press OK.

    Press oneofthe buttons toprint analignment sheet.
     Note:
    Donot cancel printing whileyouareprinting headalignment patterns.
     After
    thealignment sheetisprinted, youseeaseries ofscreens askingyoutoselect thebest square
     in
    each pattern set.
     7.
    Check theprinted patterns andchoose thenumber representing thebest square foreach set,then
     press
    OK.
     8.
    After youhave selected thenumber forallthe sets, press OK.

     1.

     and
    select OpenPrinter Utility.
     •
    Mac OSX10.5 :In the Apple menuorthe Dock, select System Preferences .Select Print&Fax ,
     select
    yourproduct, andselect OpenPrintQueue .Select Utility.
     3.
    Select PrintHead Alignment .
     4.
    Click Next,then clickPrint toprint analignment sheet.
     Note:
    Donot cancel printing whileyouareprinting ahead alignment pattern.

    Check theprinted pattern andfollow theinstructions onthe screen tochoose thenumber
     representing
    thebest printed pattern foreach set.
     •
    After choosing eachpattern number, clickNext.
     •
    Ifno patterns arealigned inone ormore ofthe sets, choose theclosest oneineach setand click
     Realignment
    .Then printanother alignment sheetandcheck it.
     Note:
    ClickSkip(where available) ifyou want toskip aparticular alignment sheet.
     6.
    When youaredone, clickFinish .

    Turn offthe product.
     2.
    Unplug thepower cable.
     3.
    Disconnect anyconnected cables.
     4.
    Remove allthe paper fromtheproduct.
     5.
    Clean thepaper cassette(s) usingasoft brush.
     6.
    Clean thescanner glassandtheglass areaonthe leftwith asoft, lint-free cloth(microfiber is
     recommended),
    moistenedwithalittle glass cleaner.
     Caution:
    Donot spray glasscleaner directlyonthe glass anddonot press theglass surface with
     any
    force.

    Iflines appear onthe printout orinscanned images,carefully cleanthescanner glassonthe

    Open theADF cover anduseasoft, dry,lint-free cloth(microfiber isrecommended), toclean the
     rollers
    andtheinterior ofthe ADF.

    Clean theouter caseandcontrol panelwithasoft, drycloth. Donot use liquid orchemical cleansers.

    Duringtransportation andstorage, followtheseguidelines:

    Leave theinkcartridges installed.Removing thecartridges candryouttheprint head andmay prevent

    product fromprinting.

    Close therear paper feedslotand output tray.

    Place theproduct inits original packing materials, ifpossible, oruse equivalent materialswith
     cushioning
    aroundtheproduct. Makesurethebox adequately protectstheproduct controlpanel.
