    Screen Does Not Appear
    Check 1: Make sure that the machine is turned on. 
    Check 2: Connect the USB cable to a different USB port on the computer.
    Check 3: If the USB cable is connected to a hub, re move it from the hub
    and connect it to a USB port on the computer. 
    Check 4: Make sure that the MP Drivers is installed .
    If it is not installed, insert the  Setup CD-ROM
     into the computers disc drive, then select Custom
     Install
    and install MP Drivers. 
    Check 5: On the File menu of the application, selec t Select Source and
    select the machine.
    Note
    The operation may differ depending on the applicati on.
    Check 6: Make sure that the application is TWAIN-co mpliant.
    You cannot open ScanGear (scanner driver) from appl ications not supporting TW AIN.
    Check 7: Exit ScanGear (scanner driver) if it is ru nning on another
    application.

    Check 1: Increase the scanning resolution.

    Check 2: Set the scale to 100%.
    Some applications do not display images clearly if the image is too small.
    Check 3: If moire (stripe pattern) appears, take th e following measures and
    scan again.
    On the Basic Mode tab of ScanGear (scanner driver),  select Magazine(Color) in Select Source.
    On the Advanced Mode tab of ScanGear (scanner drive r), set Descreen in Image Settings to ON.

    Note
    If moire appears when you scan a digital print photo, take the above measures and scan again.
    If you use MP Navigator EX, set Document Type to Magazi ne(Color) or enable Descreen in the Scan
    Settings dialog box and scan again.

    Check 4: Check the monitors color depth. 
    From the Start menu, select Control Panel > Appeara nce and Personalization > Adjust screen resolution
    to open the Display Settings dialog box. Set the co lor depth to Medium (16 bit) or Highest (32 bit).
    Windows XP: 
    From the Start menu, select Control Panel > Display  to open the Display Properties dialog box. On
    the Settings tab, set Colors to Medium (16 bit) or  Highest (32 bit).
    Windows 2000: 
    From the Start menu, select Settings > Control Pane l > Display to open the Display Properties dialog
    box. On the Settings tab, set Colors to High Color  (16 bit) or True Color (32 bit).
    Check 5: Clean the Platen and Document Cover.

    Check 6: If the document is in poor condition (dirt y, faded, etc.), use
    Reduce Dust and Scratches, Fading Correction, Grain  Correction, etc. in
    Image Settings on the Advanced Mode tab of ScanGear  (scanner driver).

    Check 7: If the color tone of images is different from the original document,
    take the following measures and scan again.
    On the Advanced Mode tab of ScanGear (scanner drive r), set Image Adjustment in Image Settings to
    None.

    Open the Preferences dialog box from the Advanced Mode tab of ScanGear (scanner driver) and set
    Color Matching on the Color Settings tab.

    Check: Specify the scan area. 
    Click 
     (Auto Crop) in ScanGear (scanner driver) to automatically display the cropping frame (scan
    area) according to the document size. You can also  manually specify the scan area, for example when
    there are white margins along the document or when  you want to create custom cropping frames.

    Check 1: To view the image on a monitor, set the output resolution to
    around 150 dpi. To print, set it to around 300 dpi.

    Check 1: Restart the computer, reduce the output resolution in ScanGear
    (scanner driver) and scan again. 
    Check 2: Delete unnecessary files to obtain suffici ent free hard disk space,
    then scan again. 
    Error message may appear if there is not enough hard d isk space to scan and save, when the image
    size is too large (such as when scanning a large document a t high resolution.)
    Check 3: For Location of Temporary Files in MP Navi gator EX, specify a
    folder on a drive with sufficient free space.

    Check: Disconnect the machine from the computer, then uninstall and
    reinstall the MP Drivers and MP Navigator EX.
    Step 1: Uninstall the MP Drivers.

    Step 2: Uninstall MP Navigator EX.
    1.From the Start menu, select (All) Programs > Canon Uti lities > MP Navigator EX 3.0 > MP
    Navigator EX Uninstall.
    2.W hen a confirmation appears, click Yes.
    3.W hen uninstallation is complete, click OK. 
    MP Navigator EX is uninstalled.
    Step 3: Reinstall the MP Drivers and MP Navigator E X.
    Insert the  Setup CD-ROM
     into the computers disc drive, then select Custom Install  and reinstall the
    MP Drivers and MP Navigator EX.
