107MESSAGE CENTER Retrieving Memory Status List You can retrieve the Memory Status List from a remote fax machine to see if you have any fax messages. 1Dial your MFCÕs number. 2When you hear the beep, immediately enter your Remote Access Code ( 1 5 9 ). 3When you hear two short beeps, use the dial pad to press 9 6 1. 4Using the dial pad, enter the number (up to 20 digits) of the remote fax machine where you want the Memory Status List forwarded, and then press . You cannot use and as dial numbers. However, if you want to store a pause, press . 5After you hear your MFC beep, hang up and wait. Your MFC calls the remote fax machine. The remote fax machine prints the Memory Status List. 110CHAPTER THIRTEEN Before You Install Multi-Function Link Pro (For MFC 4650, MFC 6650MC and MFC 7750 Only) If You DonÕt Have a CD-ROM Drive All software is supplied on CD-ROM. If you need a Floppy Diskette version (PCI-2DSK), call Brother at 1-888-879-3232 (USA) or 1-800-668-2768 (from within Canada). To order the appropriate set of diskettes, you must tell the Brother Representative the version of Windows ¨ you are using and your Brother MFC model number. (Only Multi-Function Link Pro and Visioneer PaperPort LE are available on Floppy Diskette.) Computer Requirements The following are the minimum computer requirements you need to set up and operate the MFC as a printer. Use only a shielded interface cable that is IEEE-1284 compliant, and that is less than 6 feet (1.8 meters) long. 111USING THE MFC WITH YOUR COMPUTER Connecting the MFC to the Computer You must connect the MFC to your computer with the induded bi-directional IEEE-1284 compliant parallel cable. 1Make sure to unplug the MFC power cord from the electrical outlet before connecting the parallel interface cable. Also, make sure the computer is turned off and unplugged from the electrical power before you connect the interface cable. 2Connect the parallel interface cable to the parallel interface port of the MFC and secure the connection with the wire clips. 3Connect the interface cable to the printer port of the computer and secure with the two screws. For the location of your computerÕs parallel printer port, see the UserÕs Guide for your computer. 4Before plugging in your computer and turning it on, plug in the electrical cord of the MFC.
112CHAPTER THIRTEEN Printer Driver for the MFC 4350 Your MFC 4350 is a 3-in-one multi-function centerÑits a fax, copier and printer. Before you can print from Windows ¨ on your PC, you must first install the printer driver that is included on 3.5 inch floppy diskettes. Installing MFC 4350 Printer Driver If you are using Windows NT¨ Workstation Version 4.0: 1Click the Start button in the Taskbar. 2Select Settings, then Printers. 3Double-click on the Add Printer wizard.
