21 Getting To Know Your MachineDirectory Search and Quick Name Search Directory Search function works with the following database to run the search for fax phone numbers and email addresses by name. • LDAP Directory Server on your local area network • Your machines Auto-Dialer (Address Book or One-Touch/ABBR.) If your machine is programmed with your LDAP servers address (see the User Parameters (Internet Parameters) section in Operating Instructions (For Internet Fax/Email and Network Scan Functions)) Directory Search runs the search with LDAP database first, and then search within the Auto-Dialer. If LDAP server is not programmed only the Auto-Dialer will be searched. Directory Search allows the entry of multiple letters from the QWERTY keyboard to narrow down the search to quickly find the name off the large database such as LDAP server or the optional 1,000-station Auto-Dialer. Quick Name Search function works with the machines Auto-Dialer only. Simply by pressing the first letter of your searching name repeatedly, the names beginning with that letter appear one by one in the LCD display. This may be much easier and quicker to find your searching station than using One-Touch/ABBR. auto-dialer. This also works to find the programmed communications such as Group Dialing, Differed Transmission and so on by name. Dual G3 Communication Port with Optional G3 Communication Port Kit The optional G3 Communication Port maximizes the benefit of your machineís high-speed Super G3 communication by providing you with a dual line communication capability. Itís like having two faxes in one. Each line can be used independently by taking advantage of simultaneous transmission/reception or one line can be utilized exclusively for transmission and the other for reception. Either way, the waiting time to perform Multi-Transmissions will be reduced in half. You must set the Dialing Method (Tone or Pulse) for each port when you use first. (See page 94) By the default the machine selects the available telephone line for transmission automatically. To change the Home position of the Telephone Line Selection to either Line-1 or Line-2, change the Fax Parameter No. 88 (XMT RESTRICTION) accordingly. (See page 11 2)
