Resetting the printer Wait for the message to clear. Restoring Factory Defaults Wait for the message to clear. When factory default settings are restored: All downloaded resources in the printer memory are deleted. This includes fonts, macros, and symbol sets. All settings return to the factory defaults except the Display Language setting in the Setup menu and the custom settings in the Serial , Network, Infrared, LocalTalk, and USB menus. Restore Held Jobs? Try one or more of the following: Touch Continue to restore all held jobs stored on the printer hard disk. Touch Do not restore if you do not want any print jobs to be restored. Routine maintenance needed The printer needs to have routine maintenance done. Order a maintenance kit, which contains all the items necessary to replace the pick rollers, the charge roll, the transfer roller, and the fuser. Securely clearing disk space The printer hard disk wiping process needs to recover. The message clears when all blocks are cleared. Serial The printer is using a serial cable connection. The serial port is the active communication link. Some held jobs were not restored Touch Continue to delete the specified job. Note: Some held jobs are not restored. They stay on the hard disk and are inaccessible. Staples empty or misfed Load the specified staple cartridge into the finisher to clear the message and continue stapling. Standard Bin Full Remove the stack of paper from the standard exit bin to clear the message. Submitting selection Wait for the message to clear. Too many failed panel logins The printer is now in a lockout mode because: You attempted to log in too many times with an incorrect PIN You attempted to log in using an incorrect password number for access to a printer feature, setting, or menu that you do not have access to. Note: There is a defined limit on the number of login attempts. Once the limit is reached, this message appears and the printer enters a lockout mode. The message remains on the printer control panel, and any further attempts to enter menus is denied until the defined time out expires. The time out duration is set by your system support person. Wait for the message to clear once the time out expires, and then: Enter the correct PIN to access any held jobs See your system support person if you need a password number to enter a specific printer feature, setting, or menu that is blocked from your use without the number. Tray Empty Load paper in the tray to clear the message. Tray Low Load paper in the specified tray to clear the message. Tray Missing Insert the specified tray into the printer. Unsupported disk An unsupported printer hard disk has been installed. Remove the unsupported device, and then install a supported one. Unsupported USB hub, please remove Remove the unrecognized USB hub. USB/USB The printer is using a USB cable connection. The USB port is the active communication link. View supplies This message shows the current level of supplies. 30 Invalid refill, change cartridge Remove the print cartridge, and then install a supported one. 31 Replace defective cartridge Remove the defective print cartridge, and then install a new one. 32 Cartridge part number unsupported by device Remove the print cartridge, and then install a supported one. 34 Short paper Try one or more of the following: Load the appropriate paper or other specialty media in the proper tray. Touch Continue to clear the message and print the job using a different paper tray. Check tray length and width guides and make sure the paper is properly loaded in the tray. Check the Print Properties or Print dialog settings to make sure the print job is requesting the correct paper size and type. Check that the paper size is correctly set. 37 Insufficient memory for Flash Memory Defragment operation Try one or more of the following: Touch Continue to stop the defragment operation and continue printing. Delete fonts, macros, and other data in printer memory. Install additional printer memory. 35 Insufficient memory to support Resource Save feature Try one or more of the following: Touch Continue to disable Resource Save and continue printing. To enable Resource Save after receiving this message, make sure the link buffers are set to Auto, and then exit the menus to activate the link buffer changes. When Ready appears, enable Resource Save. Install additional memory. 37 Insufficient memory to collate job Try one or more of the following: Touch Continue to print the portion of the job already stored and begin collating the rest of the print job. Cancel the current print job. 37 Insufficient memory, some Held Jobs were deleted The printer deleted some held jobs in order to process current jobs. Touch Continue to clear the message. 37 Insufficient memory, some held jobs will not be restored The printer was unable to restore some or all of the confidential or held jobs on the printer hard disk. 54 Network software error is the number of the network connection. Try one or more of the following: Touch Continue to continue printing. Turn the printer off and then back on to reset the printer. Upgrade (flash) the network firmware in the printer or print server. 54 Serial option error is the number of the serial option. Try one or more of the following: Check that the serial cable is connected correctly and is the proper one for the serial port. Check that the serial interface parameters (protocol, baud, parity, and data bits) are set correctly on the printer and host computer. Touch Continue to continue printing.
