Your vehicle’s air conditioning is a sealed system. Any major maintenance, such as recharging, should be done by a qualif ied technician. You can do a couple of things to make sure the air conditioning works ef f iciently.Periodically check the engine’s radiator and air conditioning condenser f or leaves, insects, and dirt stuck to the f ront surf ace. These block the air f low and reduce cooling ef f iciency. Use a light spray f rom a hose or a sof t brush to remove them. The condenser and radiator f ins bend easily. Only use a low-pressure spray or soft-bristle brush to clean them. Run the air conditioning at least once a week during the cold weather months. Run it f or at least 10 minutes while you are driving at a steady speed with the engine at normal operating temperature. This circulates the lubricating oil con- tained in the ref rigerant. If the air conditioning does not get as cold as before, have your dealer check the system. Recharge the system with Ref rigerant HFC-134a (R-134a). Whenever you have the air conditioning system serviced, make sure the service f acility uses a ref rigerant recycling system. This system captures the ref rigerant f or reuse. Releasing ref rigerant into the atmosphere can damage the environment. Remove the under cover from the lower part of the dashboard caref ully. This f ilter removes the dust and pollenthatisbroughtinfromthe outside through the heating and cooling system/climate control system. This f ilter should be replaced during scheduled maintenance. On EU, Australia and South Af rica models, ref er to the maintenance schedule in the separate service information booklet that came with your vehicle. On other models, see the maintenance schedules in this owner’s manual. The dust and pollen f ilter should be replaced at short intervals if you drive primarily in urban areas that have high concentrations of soot in the air f rom industry and diesel- powered vehicles. Replace it more of ten if airf low f rom the heating and cooling system/climate control system becomes less than usual. The dust and pollen f ilter is under the dashboard on the passenger’s side of the front of the centre console. To replace it: To access the f ilter, open the f ront passenger’s door. Check the condition of the wiper blades at least every 6 months. Replace them if you f ind signs of cracking in the rubber, and areas that are getting hard or if they leave streaks and unwiped areas when used. Remove the cap on the wiper blade assembly by squeezing the lock tabs and sliding it outward along the holder. Do not open the bonnet when the wiper arms are raised, or you will damage the bonnet and the wiper arms. To replace a wiper blade: Raise the wiper arm of f the windscreen. Raise the driver’s side first, then the passenger’s side. 1.2. Wiper Blades Maint enance500 WIPER ARMS TAB 09/01/28 18:39:54 32SMG631_505

Do not pull up the end of the holder f orcibly and bend the holder excessively while removing the blade. This could damage the holder. Lower the wiper arm down against the windscreen, the passenger’s side first, then the driver’s side. Make sure the blade is completely installed and that its edge is not bunched up. Install the new blade onto the blade assembly: Pull back either end of the blade assembly. Slide the wiper blade assembly onto the wiper arm. Make sure it locks in place. Reinstall the cap on the wiper arm along to the slit on the holder. Examine the new wiper blades. If they have no plastic or metal reinf orcement along the back edge, remove the metal reinf orcement strips f rom the old wiper blade, and install them in the slots along the edge of the new blade.Place the side of the blade not labelled ‘‘LOCK’’ on the end of the blade assembly, and slide the blade onto the assembly until it is f ully installed. 6. 7. 8. 9. 5. 10. To saf ely operate your vehicle, your tyres must be the proper type and size, in good condition with adequate tread, and correctly inf lated. The f ollowing pages give more detailed inf ormation on how to take care of your tyres and what to do when they need to be replaced.Keeping the tyres properly inf lated provides the best combination of handling, tread lif e, and riding comf ort. Underinf lated tyres wear unevenly, adversely affect handling and fuel economy, and are more likely to fail from being overheated. Overinf lated tyres can make your vehicleridemoreharshly, are more prone to damage f rom road hazards, and wear unevenly. The def lation warning system will warnyouwhenachangeintyre revolutions occurs due to a decrease in tyre pressure. See page f or more inf ormation on the def lation warning system. Even though your vehicle is equipped with def lation warning system, we recommend that you visually check your tyres every day. If you think a tyre might be low, check it immediately with a tyre gauge. Then initialise the def lation warning system (see page ). Use a gauge to measure the air pressure in each tyre at least once a month. Even tyres that are in good conditionmaylose10to20kPa(0.1 to 0.2 kgf /cm , 1 to 2 psi) per month. Remember to check the spare tyre (if equipped) at the same time. Check the air pressure when the tyres are cold. This means the vehicle has been parked f or at least three hours, or driven less than 1.6 km (1 mile). Add or release air, if needed, to match the recommended cold tyre pressures on the label on the driver’s doorjamb. 425427 CONT INUED Maint enance Tyres Inf lation Guidelines 503 Using tyres that are excessively worn or improperly inflated can cause a crash in which you can be seriously hurt or killed. While tubeless tyres have some ability to self -seal if they are punctured, you should look closely for punctures if a tyre starts losing pressure. You should get your own tyre pressure gauge and use it whenever you check your tyre pressures. This will make it easier f or you to tell if a pressure loss is due to a tyre problem and not due to a variation between gauges. If you check air pressures when the tyres are hot [driven f or several kilometers (miles)], you will see readings 30 to 40 kPa (0.3 to 0.4 kgf /cm , 4 to 6 psi) higher than the cold reading. This is normal. Do not let air out to match the recommendedcoldairpressure. The tyre will be underinf lated. For convenience, the recommended cold air pressures and tyre sizes are on a label on the driver’s doorjamb.Every time you check inf lation, you should also examine the tyres f or damage, f oreign objects, and wear. CONT INUED To help increase tyre lif e and distribute wear more evenly, rotate the tyres every 10,000 km (6,250 miles). Move the tyres to the positions shown in the chart each time they are rotated. The above illustration shows how the tyres should be rotated. In addition to proper inf lation, correct wheel alignment helps to decrease tyre wear. If you f ind a tyre is worn unevenly, have your dealer check the wheel alignment. Have your dealer check the tyres if you f eel a consistent vibration while driving. A tyre should always be rebalanced if it is removed f rom the wheel. When you have new tyres installed, make sure they are balanced. This increases riding comf ort and tyre lif e. For best results, have the installer perf orm a dynamic balance. Improper wheel weights can damage your vehicle’s aluminium wheels. Use only genuine Honda wheel weights f or balancing. Your tyres have wear indicators molded into the tread. When the tread wears down, you will see a band 12.7 mm (1/2 inch) wide across the tread. This shows there is less than 1.6 mm (1/16 inch) of tread lef t on the tyre. A tyre this worn gives very little traction on wet roads. You should replace the tyre if you can see three or more tread wear indicators.
