The display shows the selectable items. If you want to cancel ‘‘DEFAULT ALL,’’ select ‘‘CANCEL’’ by pressing the INFO button, then press and hold the SEL/RESET button for about 3 seconds to set. CONT INUED The automatic intermittent wiper system senses rainf all and automatically turns on the windscreen wipers. To enable sensing, push the lever down to select AUTO. The headlight washers can be operated at any time by pressing the headlight washer button located next to the steering wheel column. The headlights must be turned on to use this button. In addition, the headlight washer operates without pressing the button at the first time you turn on the windscreen washers af ter you turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position.The headlight washers use the same f luid reservoir as the windscreen washers. You can adjust the sensitivity of the system by turning the adjustment ring on the wiper lever. When the system senses rainf all, it turns on the windscreen wipers and varies their speed (intermittent, low speed, or high speed) depending on how hard it is raining. This f unction is available when the vehicle speed exceeds 10 km/h (6 mph).When the wiper lever is in the ‘‘LO’’ (low speed) or ‘‘HI’’ (high speed) position, the windscreen wipers run at that speed. Do not position the wiper lever in AUTO when driving through a car wash. Turn of f this system when not in use. The rainfall sensor is located in the windscreen near the rearview mirror. If the sensor is covered with mud, oil, dust, etc., the wipers may not operate properly or may operate unexpectedly. µµPush down or up on the lever to signal a turn. To signal a lane change, push lightly on the lever in the proper direction and hold it. The lever will return to centre when you release it or complete a turn.Turning the switch to the ‘‘ ’’ position turns on the position lights, tail-lights, instrument panel lights, and rear licence plate lights. Turning the switch to the ‘‘ ’’ position turns on the headlights. If you leave the lights on with the key removed f rom the ignition switch, you will hear a reminder chime when you open the driver’s door. If you hold the turn signal lever, the turn signal continues to blink and will stop when you release it. To signal a lane change easily, push the turn signal lever in the proper direction lightly and release it. µ µ On some models The automatic lighting f eature turns on the headlights, all other exterior lights, and the instrument panel lights when it senses low ambient light. To turn on the automatic lighting, turn the light switch to the AUTO position at any time. The lights will come on automatically when the outside light level becomes low (at dusk, f or example). The lights on indicator comes on as a reminder. The lights and indicator turn of f automatically when the system senses high ambient light. Push the lever f orward until you hear a click to turn on the high beams. The blue high beam indicator will come on (see page ). Pull the lever back to return to the low beams. The daytime running lights come on automatically when you turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position. They go out automatically when the light switch is ON. To f lash the high beams, pull the lever back lightly, then release it. The high beams will stay on as long as you hold the lever back. The lights turn of f automatically when you turn the ignition switch to the LOCK (0) position. To turn them on again, either turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position, or turn the light switch to the position.Even with the automatic lighting f eature turned on, we recommend thatyouturnonthelightsmanually when driving at night or in a dense f og, or when you enter dark areas such as long tunnels or parking f acilities. Do not leave the light switch in AUTO if you will not be driving the vehicle f or an extended period (a weekormore).Youshouldalsoturn of f the lights if you plan to leave the engine idling or the engine of f f or a long time. If there is a problem with the automatic lighting control system, you will see the symbol ‘‘ ,’’ or the symbol with a ‘‘CHECK SYSTEM’’ message on the multi- inf ormation display.
