    When the printer does not receive data for a certain period of 
    time (timeout), it enters sleep mode. Sleep mode acts as 
    though the printer is turned off. The default timeout is 30 
    minutes. You can change the setting at the control panel.

    You can use the control panel Menu buttons to select the priority of 
    the paper source in the PAPER menu. For more information about 
    this setting, see Chapter 3.

    ■If you print on thick paper that weighs more than 150 g/m2  
    (40 lb), use face-up printing.
    ■We recommend that you use face-up printing when you 
    print on transparencies.
    ■If the paper is misfeeding or a lot of pages go through at the 
    same time when you print on small or thick paper, change 
    the paper thickness switches on the bottom of the paper 
    tray. For more information, see page 1-22.

    Media types in the driver settings
    You can select the following media types in the driver settings. 
    Please see, Features in the printer driver in Chapter 2. 
    ■Plain paper:  60 g/m
    2 to 105 g/m2 (16 lb to 28 lb)
    ■Thick paper:  105 g/m2 to 150 g/m2 (28 lb to 40 lb)
    ■Thicker paper: 150 g/m2 to 200 g/m2 (40 lb to 53 lb)
    ■Bond  paper: Rough paper - 60 g/m2 to 200 g/m2 (16 lb to 53 lb)
    ■Transparency: Overhead projector film
    ■Envelope 
    ■Thin paper
    Recommended paper
    ■Before you buy a lot of paper, please test a page to make sure that 
    the paper is suitable.
    ■Use paper that is designed for plain-paper copying.
    ■Use paper that is 75 to 90 g/m
    2 (20 to 24 lb).
    ■Use neutral paper.  Do not use acidic or alkaline paper.
    ■Use long-grain paper.
    ■Use paper with a moisture content of approximately 5%.
    ■This printer can use recycled paper that meets the DIN 19309 
    specification.
