What’s New in DEFINITY ECS Release 8.2 Job Aid 555-233-754 Issue 1 April 2000 Networking Enhancements 225 Networking - ATM 2 11.Set the synchronizationSet the Synchronization Capable field to n (default). NOTE: Up to 44 b oards may b e d esignated sync hronization c ap ab le on R8r and 3 b oard s on R8si, R8c si, R8c. If you enter y in this field when the maximum numb er of b oard s has been d esignated , the system returns: Maximum number of Synchronization Capable boards already administered NOTE: If this ATM trunk c ircuit p ack is a synchronization sourc e, set the field to y. If you c hang e the field to n when the circ uit p ac k is ad ministered as a sync hronization sourc e, the system returns: Cannot remove synchronization source. 12.Administer the signaling groupType add signaling-group and press Enter. The Signaling Group screen (Screen 7 ) displays. Set the following fields (tabbing goes vertically) 13.Set the group type Set the Group Type field to atm. 14.Type port address Type the D-channel (signaling channel) port address for this new signaling group in UUCSSppp screen at (3-digits required for port addresses). This address must match the slot and port number on an ATM-Interface circuit pack. 15.Type a name Type a name in the Name field (15 alpha-numeric characters). 16.Set VPI The Virtual Path Identifier (VPI) field is set to 0 and is not administrable. What’s New in DEFINITY ECS Release 8.2 Job Aid 555-233-754 Issue 1 April 2000 Networking Enhancements 226 Networking - ATM 2 17.Set VCI Set the Virtual Channel Identifier (VCI) field (32- 1023). This number must be unique among signaling groups that share the same ATM circuit pack. NOTE: For a d irec t c onnec tion (two fib er-connec ted CES circuit p acks), sp ecify the same VCI at b oth end s of the emulated c irc uit. When the CES is connected to an ATM switch, the VCI spec ified here must matc h the VCI used for the PVC c reated on the ATM switc h, whic h is typ ically provided by the ATM switch ad ministrator. NOTE: The Signaling Mode field is set to isdn-pri and is not ad ministrab le. 18.Set idle code Set the Idle Code field (typically 11111111). 19.Set interface compandingSet the Interface Companding field (alaw or mulaw). Once administered, busyout the signaling group before changing. 20.Set country protocol Set the Country Protocol field (Table 10). 21.Set protocol version Set the Protocol Version field (Table 10). 22.Set circuit type Set the Circuit Type field (T1 or E1). NOTE: Both end s must be the same. It is p referab le to set it to E1 even in the United States, Canad a, or other T1 countries. 23.Set connect Set the Connect field to pbx. Once administered, busyout the signaling group before changing. 24.Set interface Set the Interface field to user at one end of the emulated circuit and to network at the other end. 25.Set DCP/analog bearer capabilitySet the DCP/Analog Bearer Capability field to 3.1 kHz. 26.Set internetworking messageSet internetworking message field to PROGress. What’s New in DEFINITY ECS Release 8.2 Job Aid 555-233-754 Issue 1 April 2000 Networking Enhancements 227 Networking - ATM 2 27.Verify channel settingsGo to screen 2; Screen 8 displays. Depending on the settings in step 18: nIf Circuit Type field is set at T1, then channel 24 is populated. nIf Circuit Type field is set at E1, then channel 16 is populated. Other details about D-channels: nAll ports for one signaling group must be on the same ATM circuit pack (the same circuit pack that the D channel is on). nThe D-channel port is never assigned to a trunk group. Because they are all the same, the administrator does not need to type in the circuit pack location for each channel. nNo port can be assigned to more than one signaling group. 28.Type port numbers Add the port numbers (minimum of 6) from the port-to- channel mapping on signaling group screen 2. See “ Changing the port-to-channel mapping” on page 233 if you need to change any administration. When finished, press En t e r to save the administration. 29.Administer the trunk groupType add trunk-group trkgrpnbr and press En te r. Screen 9 displays. Table 9. What’s New in DEFINITY ECS Release 8.2 Job Aid 555-233-754 Issue 1 April 2000 Networking Enhancements 234 Networking - ATM 2 DEFINITY commands for CES Administration commands that are useful in working with CES are listed in Ta b l e 11. Additional DEFINITY ECS administration After administering the ATM-PNC or ATM-CES, you may need to do some further administration, specifically: nLocations nSVC cache (PNC only) nGain/Loss adjustments (PNC only) Locations The DEFINITY ATM-PNC makes it easier for the DEFINITY ECS to have port networks in multiple time zones. To handle distances between the PPN and its EPNs, the system tracks one or more locations by assigning each cabinet a location number. All locations must be in the same country code. If upgrading from a pre-Release 7, you may need to set the locations for your EPNs. To administer locations, follow the procedure in Ta b l e 1 2 . NOTE: The screens and field description follow the table. Table 11. ATM administration commands Command Description display circuit-packs cabinet Displays the packs in the cabinet, identifying ATM Trunk as well as ATM PNC EI boards. ATM Interface boards have not been specified as CES or PNC yet. display atm ports eqloc Displays the 256 ports on the ATM board with the corresponding signaling and trunk group. list configuration atmLists the ATM boards, identifying equipment location, board code, type, and vintage. list configuration trunksLists boards identifying assigned ports. Although the ATM board is listed, the 256 ports are not.
