ELECTRICAL11 REPAIR Refit 12. Fitnew fuse. 13. Position instrument paneltofascia cowlarea and reconnect immobiliser warninglightleads, gearbox oiltemperature lead,heated rearscreen leads, alarmLEDpluglead, mainharness multi-plugs andspeedometer cable, 14. Secure instrument paneltofascia cowlwith4 screws See INSTRUMENTS, Repair, Instrument panel. 15.Fitsteering wheelSeeSTEERING, Repair, Steering wheel. 16.Reconnect batterynegative lead. 17. Fitbattery access cover. 18. FitLH front seatcushion. GENERATOR Service repairno-86.10.02 Remove 1. Disconnect battery. 2. Remove drivebelt SeeAuxiliary drivebelt. 3.Unscrew 3fixings, remove heatshield fromrear of generator, anddisconnect electricalleads from generator. 4. Remove generator bottomfixingbolt. 5. Remove longthrough boltfrom topfixing andlift generator fromengine. Refit 6. Fitgenerator toengine mounting bracketand secure withtopand bottom fixingbolts. 7. Connect electrical leads. 8. Fitheat shield. 9. Fitdrive belt SeeAuxiliary drivebelt;Refit. 10. Reconnect battery.
86ELECTRICAL 12 REPAIR AUXILIARY DRIVEBELT Service repairno-86.10.03 NOTE: Ifcast lines ontensioner armand tensioner springcasearealigned, anew drive beltmust befitted. Remove 1. Disconnect battery. 2. Remove fancowl See COOLING SYSTEM, Repair, Fancowl. 3.Apply ringspanner totensioner pulleyretaining bolt. 4. Turn spanner torelease pulleytension frombelt. 5. Detach beltfrom pulley. 6. Release tensioner. 7. Complete removalofbelt. Mark direction onbelt if refitting. Refit 8. Using ringspanner, releasepulleytensioner and fit new drive belt. 9. Remove ringspanner, drivebeltwill automatically tension. 10. Fitfan cowl See COOLING SYSTEM,Repair, Fan cowl. STARTER MOTOR Service repairno-86.60.01 Remove 1. Disconnect battery. 2.Disconnect electricalleadsfromstarter solenoid. 3. Remove 3fixings securing startermotorto flywheel housing. 4. Withdraw startermotor. Refit 5. Locate startermotorandsecure toflywheel housing. 6. Reconnect electricalleadstostarter solenoid. 7. Reconnect battery.
ELECTRICAL13 REPAIR HEADLAMP Service repairno-86.40.02 Remove 1. Remove screwsretaining sideanddirection indicator lamps. 2. Withdraw lampunitsanddisconnect plugs. 3. Remove 2screws andwithdraw headlamp finisher. 4. Remove 2headlamp retainingscrews. 5. Rotate headlamp clockwise, disengage from body, andliftout headlamp. 6. Disconnect multi-plugtorelease headlamp. On vehicles fittedwithheadlamp levellingunit,also release unitharness plug SeeHeadlamp levelling unit. 7.Remove rubbercover. 8. Release springclipand withdraw headlamp bulb. NOTE: Donot touch bulbglass with fingers. Ifnecessary, cleanbulbwith methylated spirits. Refit 9. Fitbulb toheadlamp andretain withspring clip. 10. Fitrubber coverandreconnect multi-plug. If applicable, fitheadlamp levellingunitplug See Headlamp levellingunit. 11.Locate headlamp inbody androtate anti-clockwise toengage. 12. Fitheadlamp retainingscrews. 13. Fitheadlamp finisher,sideanddirection indicator lamps. 14. Check mainbeam alignment SeeHeadlamp beam alignment.
86ELECTRICAL 14 REPAIR SIDE, TAILANDDIRECTION INDICATOR LAMPS Service repairno-86.40.34 -Front sidelamp Service repairno-86.40.45 -Tail lamp Service repairno-86.40.42 -Front direction indicator lamp Service repairno-86.40.43 -Rear direction indicator lamp Remove 1. Remove 2screws andwithdraw lampunit. 2. Hold bulbholder andtwist lenstorelease. 3. Push andtwist bulbtoremove fromholder. Refit 4. Fitnew bulb, ifnecessary. 5. Fitbulb holder tolamp lens. 6. Secure lamptovehicle. SIDE REPEATER LAMP Service repairno-86.40.53. Remove 1. Push lensfirmly tothe right. 2. Lift leftedge andwithdraw lampunitfrom wing. 3. Twist bulbholder andrelease fromlens. 4. Pull bulb from holder. Refit 5. Fitnew bulb, ifnecessary. 6. Fitbulb holder tolens. 7. Locate lampunitinwing andpush firmly tothe left tosecure.
ELECTRICAL15 REPAIR REAR NUMBER PLATELAMP-BULB RENEWAL Service repairno-86.40.85 Remove 1. Remove singlescrewsecuring lampcover and lens tobulb holder. 2. Remove bulb/sfromholder. Refit 3. Fitnew bulb/s. 4. Fitlamp lensandcover. REAR NUMBER PLATELAMP Service repairno-86.40.86 Remove 1. Remove singlescrewandremove lampcover and lens. 2. Uncsrew 2fixings andremove metalcover to gain access tolamp fixings andharness leads inside vehicle. 3. Disconnect lampleads fromharness. 4. Remove 2bolts, nutsandwashers securing lamp tovehicle body. 5. Remove bulbholder, complete withrubber seal and mounting plinth. Refit 6. Feed lampunitleads through vehiclebodyand secure bulbholder, sealandplinth. 7. Fitlamp leads toharness connectors. 8. Fitcover toconceal lampfixings. 9. Fitlens andlamp cover.
86ELECTRICAL 16 REPAIR REVERSE ANDFOGGUARD LAMP-BULB RENEWAL Service repairno-86.40.90 Remove 1. Remove twoscrews withsealing washers and remove lensfrom lamp body. 2. Push andtwist bulbtorelease fromholder. 3. Clean interior oflamp andlens. Refit 4. Fitnew bulb. 5. Fitlens tolamp body. REVERSE ANDFOGGUARD LAMP Service repairno-86.40.91 -Reverse lamp Service repairno-86.40.99 -Fog guard lamp Remove1. From underneath thevehicle, liftprotective flap and disconnect lampleads atharness connectors. 2. Unscrew 2nuts andwashers andwithdraw lamp unit from vehicle. Refit 3. Feed lampleads through grommet andlocate lamp studs invehicle body. 4. Fitretaining nutsandreconnect lampleads to vehicle harness.
ELECTRICAL17 REPAIR INTERIOR LAMP-BULB REMOVAL Service repairno-86.45.01 Remove 1. Prise lensfrom lamp unit. 2. Spread bulbholder contacts andrelease bulb. Refit 3. Spread bulbholder contacts andfitnew bulb. 4. Fitlamp lens. INTERIOR LAMP Service repairno-86.45.02 Remove 1. Prise lenscover fromlamp unit. 2. Remove 2nuts securing lampunittoheadlining and roof mounting bracket. 3. Remove lampunitfrom mounting bracketstuds and disconnect harnessplug. 4. Remove interiorlamp. Refit 5. Reconnect harnessplugandlocate lampuniton mounting bracketstuds.Ensure lampswitch eyelet iscorrectly seatedonlamp unitbase. 6. Secure lampunittomounting bracketandfit lamp lens.
86ELECTRICAL 18 REPAIR REVERSE LAMPSWITCH Service repairno-37.27.01 Remove The reverse lampswitch islocated onthe LHside of the gearbox extension housingandisaccessible from underneath thevehicle. 1. Place vehicle onsuitable ramp. 2.Disconnect reverselampswitch leadmulti-plug from harness connector. 3. Unscrew switchfromextension housing. Refit 4. Fitnew switch togearbox extension housing. Tighten to 25Nm (18lbf/ft). 5.Fitlamp switch leadmulti-plug toharness connector. 6. Check operation oflamp switch. WARNING LAMPASSEMBLY Service repairno-86.45.60 -Warning lamp assembly Service repairno-86.45.61 -Warning lampbulb renewal Remove 1. Disconnect battery. 2.Remove 2screws andwithdraw warninglight assembly frominstrument panel. 3. Remove multi-plug togive access towarning lamp bulbs. 4. Twist bulbholder andpullitfrom itssocket. 5. Pull bulb from holder. Refit 6. Fitnew bulb andrefitholder. 7. Fitmulti-plug. 8. Fitwarning lampassembly toinstrument panel 9. Reconnect battery.

Disconnect battery. 2.Remove 4screws retaining instrument panel. 3. Ease panel forward anddisconnect speedometer cabletoimprove accessto illumination bulbs. 4. Twist bulbholder andpullfrom socket. 5. Pull bulb from holder. Refit 6. Fitnew bulb andrefitholder. 7. Reconnect speedometer cableandfitinstrument panel. 8. Reconnect battery. STARTER SWITCH Service repairno-86.65.03 Remove 1. Remove instrument panel SeeINSTRUMENTS, Repair, Instrument panel. 2.Remove steeringcolumnnacelleSee STEERING, Repair,Steering columnnacelle. 3.Note position ofharness leadsonback ofstarter switch anddisconnect lukars.Iffitted, remove alarm system passive coilfrom switch See Passive coil. 4.Remove singlescrewandwithdraw starter switch fromsteering columnlock. Refit 5. Fitnew switch insteering columnlock. 6. Connect harnessleadstostarter switch. 7. Ifapplicable, fitalarm system passive coil See Passive coil. 8.Fitsteering columnnacelleSeeSTEERING, Repair, Steering columnnacelle. 9.Fitinstrument panelSeeINSTRUMENTS, Repair, Instrument panel.
86ELECTRICAL 20 REPAIR WINDSCREEN WIPER/WASHER SWITCH Service repairno-84.15.34 Remove 1. Remove steeringcolumnnacelle See STEERING, Repair,Steering columnnacelle. 2.Disconnect switchmulti-plug frommain harness. 3. Remove 2screws andstarwasher securing switch tomounting bracket. 4. Remove switchcomplete withharness. Refit 5. Fitnew switch tomounting bracket. 6. Reconnect switchmulti-plug. 7. Fitsteering columnnacelle SeeSTEERING, Repair, Steering columnnacelle. DIRECTION INDICATOR/HEADLAMP/HORN SWITCH Service repairno-86.65.55 Remove 1. Remove steeringcolumnnacelle See STEERING, Repair,Steering columnnacelle. 2.Disconnect 3steering columnswitchmulti-plugs from main harness. 3. Slacken clampscrewandwithdraw switch assembly fromsteering column. 4. Remove fixingsanddetach windscreen wiper/washer andmain lighting switches from mounting bracket. 5. Renew complete direction indicator/headlamp/horn switchandswitch bracket assembly. Refit 6. Fitmain lighting andwindscreen wiper/washer switches tomounting bracket. 7. Position switchassembly onsteering column and fully tighten clamp. 8. Reconnect switchmulti-plugs. 9. Fitsteering columnnacelle SeeSTEERING, Repair, Steering columnnacelle.
