    Refit
    19. Coat unions, threads andnew Orings with
    refrigerant oilprior toreassembly.
    20. Position heater/cooler unitinengine
    compartment andlocate withairduct seal.
    21. Secure unittopand bottom mounting bracketsto
    bulkhead andsupport brackettofront ofunit
    casing. Fullytighten fixingboltswhen unitis
    correctly positioned.
    22. Ifapplicable, fitblower motorresistor blockto
    vehicle wing.
    23. Connect blowermotorwiring plugs.
    24. Fitfootwell insulation andcarpet.
    25. Fitcontrol cabletoevaporator flapoperating rod
    using newclip.Secure outercable.
    26. Connect watervalvevacuum switchpipeand
    thermostat leads.
    27. Fitaircontrol flapsolenoid toside of
    heater/cooler unit.
    28. Reconnect heatermatrixhoses.
    29. Connect highpressure pipetoevaporator.
    30. Connect lowpressure pipeandfitinsulation
    cover.
    31. Evacuate andrecharge airconditioning system
    SeeAdjustment, Refrigerantrecovery,
    recycling, recharging.
    32.Reconnect battery.

    EVAPORATOR
    -R H DRIVE
    Service repairno-82.25.20
    Remove 1. Remove heater/cooler unit
    SeeHeater/cooler
    unit -R H drive.
    2. Suitably supportunitonabench.
    3. Remove sealantandrelease thermostat probe
    from lowpressure pipe.
    4.Remove 2screws securing blowermotorcover
    to main casing.
    5. Withdraw coversufficiently torelease motor
    Lucar connector andearth eyelet. Remove
    cover.
    6. Unscrew topadaptor pipefrom heater matrix.
    7. Remove 18fixings securing topcover tomain
    casing andheater/cooler supportframe.
    8. Carefully breaksealing compound aroundedge
    of joint seam andremove topcover frommain
    casing.
    9. Lift out heater matrix.
    10. Remove 2screws securing backofevaporator
    to support frame.
    11. From underneath, remove2nuts andwashers
    securing evaporator matrixtobase ofcasing.
    12. Liftevaporator matrixfromcasing, complete with
    side plates.
    13. Remove sideplates
    14. Clean sealing compound fromalljoint seams of
    main casing andtopcover.
    NOTE: Theevaporator matrixissupplied
    complete withtheexpansion valve.
    However, afaulty expansion valvecanbe
    serviced separately,
    SeeExpansion valve-R H
    drive.
    Refit
    15. Locate sidepanels tonew evaporator lower
    fixing studs.
    16. Fitevaporator, withside plates, intomain casing.
    Ensure bothstuds arelocated through bottomof
    casing andsecure.
    17. Apply sealing compound aroundjointseam of
    main casing.
    18. Fittop cover tomain casing.
    19. Fitthermostat probetotolow pressure pipeand
    apply sealant.
    20. Fittop adaptor pipetoheater matrix.
    21. FitLucar connector andeath eyelet toblower
    motor.
    22. Fitblower motorcover.
    23. Fitheater/cooler unitassembly intoengine
    compartment

    EXPANSION
    VALVE-R H DRIVE
    Service repairno-82.25.01
    Remove 1. Remove evaporator
    SeeEvaporator -R H
    drive.
    2. Unscrew unionsecuring pressure sensortolow
    pressure pipe.
    3. Release springclipsecuring temperature sensor
    to low pressure pipe.
    4. Unscrew unionandremove expansion valve
    from evaporator highpressure pipe.
    5. Remove highpressure pipefrom expansion
    valve.
    6. Discard allpipe connection Orings.
    Refit 7. Coat unions, threads andnew Orings with
    refrigerant oilprior toreassembly.
    8. Fithigh presssure pipetonew expansion valve.
    9. Fitexpansion valvetoevaporator highpressure
    pipe.
    10. Secure temperature andpressure sensorstolow
    pressure pipe.
    11. Fitevaporator

    Service repairno-82.25.19
    Remove 1. Remove heater/cooler unit
    SeeHeater/cooler
    unit -R H drive.
    2. Suitably supportunitonabench.
    3. Remove sealantandrelease thermostat probe
    from lowpressure pipe.
    4.Remove 2screws securing blowermotorcover
    to main casing.
    5. Withdraw coversufficiently torelease motor
    Lucar connector andearth eyelet. Remove
    cover.
    6. Unscrew topadaptor pipefrom heater matrix.
    7. Remove 18fixings securing topcover tomain
    casing andheater/cooler supportframe.
    8. Carefully breaksealing compound aroundedge
    of joint seam andremove topcover frommain
    casing.
    9. Lift out heater matrix.
    10. Clean sealing compound fromalljoint seams of
    main casing andtopcover.
    Refit
    11. Locate heatermatrixinmain casing.
    12. Apply sealing compound aroundjointseam of
    main casing.
    13. Fittop cover tomain casing.
    14. Fitadaptor pipetoheater matrix.
    15. Fitthermostat probetotolow pressure pipeand
    apply sealant.
    16. FitLucar connector andeath eyelet toblower
    motor.
    17. Fitblower motorcover.
    18. Fitheater/cooler unitassembly intoengine
    compartment

    RESISTOR,
    BLOWERMOTOR-L H DRIVE

    Remove
    1. Remove multi-plug fromresistor.
    2. Remove blowermotorrelayfromconnecting
    block togain access tofixing screw.
    3. Remove screwandrelease relayconnector
    block. Retain relayinconnector block.
    4. Remove screwanddetach airconditioning 30
    amp fusebracket fromresistor.
    5. Lift resistor unitfrom topcover.
    Refit 6. Locate resistor unitintop cover.
    7. Fitfuse bracket.
    8. Fitblower motorrelayconnector blockandrelay.
    9. Fitresistor multi-plug. RESISTOR,
    BLOWERMOTOR-R H DRIVE
    Service repairno-82.20.26
    Remove
    1. Remove multi-plugs fromresistor.
    2. Remove 2screws securing resistortowing
    mounted block.
    3. Withdraw resistorunit.
    Refit 4. Secure resistor tomounting block.
    5. Fitresistor multi-plugs.

    MOTOR ANDDRIVE RACK
    Service repairno-84.15.09
    Remove 1. Disconnect battery.
    2. Remove wiperarms.
    NOTE: Operations 3-5 are forRH drive
    vehicles only.
    3.Prise LandRover decalfromgrab handle and
    remove screw.
    4. Remove lowerscrew andlifthandle fromfascia.
    5. Remove screwfixingfinisher towiper motor
    cover.
    6. Remove doorcheck strapcover, remove 3
    screws andwithdraw wipermotor cover. If
    applicable, disconnect switchmulti-plugs and/or
    radio speaker leads.
    7. Disconnect multi-plugfromwiper motor.
    8. Disconnect wipermotor earthlead.(Not
    applicable onlater models)
    9. Lift rubber sleeve andslacken wipermotor to
    drive tubenut.
    10. Remove 2screws andrelease wipermotor
    retaining strap.
    11. Fully unscrew tubenut.
    12. Pullwiper motor anddrive rackclear oftube and
    retrieve mounting padandearth tag.
    Refit
    13. Feed wiper motor driverackintotube untilfully
    seated.
    14. Loosely fitdrive tubesecuring nut.
    15. Fitwiper motor securing strap,earthtagand
    mounting pad.Align motor andtighten fixing
    screws.

    Fully tighten tubenutand fitrubber sleeve.
    17. Reconnect earthleadandmulti-plug.
    18. Before fittingcover andgrab handle, fitwiper
    blades. Reconnect batteryandtestoperation of
    wiper motor anddrive assembly. Ifnecessary,
    adjust position ofwiper blades.
    19. Fitwiper motor coveranddoor check strap
    cover.
    20. OnRH drive vehicles, fitfinisher andgrab
    handle.

    WITH AIRCONDITIONING, LHDRIVE
    Service repairno-84.15.20
    Remove 1. Disconnect battery.
    2. Remove wiperarms.
    3.Remove singlescrewandremove fasciaside
    panel.
    4. Remove 5screws andwithdraw instrument
    panel asfar aspossible withoutstraining wires
    and cables.
    5. Remove steeringwheel
    SeeSTEERING,
    Repair, Steering wheel.
    6.Remove 2screws atRH side andsingle screw
    at LH side, inside instrument cowel,and
    withdraw airconditioning panelandcontrols.
    7. Release fasciapanelLHsupport bracket.
    8. Remove wipermotor coverfinisher.

    9.
    Remove doorcheck strapcover and3screws
    and withdraw wipermotor cover. Ifapplicable,
    disconnect switchmulti-plugs and/orradio
    speaker leads.
    10.Disconnect wipermotor multi-plug.
    11. Disconnect earthlead.(Notapplicable onlater
    models)
    12. Liftrubber sleeve fromwiper motor andslacken
    wiper motor todrive tubenut.
    13. Remove 2screws andrelease wipermotor
    retaining strap,complete withmounting padand
    earth tag.
    14. Pullwiper motor anddrive rackclear ofdrive
    tubes. Refit
    15. Feed driverackintodrive tubeuntilfullylocated
    in wheel boxes.
    16. Finger tighten drivetubenut.
    17. Position motormounting pad,fitretaining strap,
    including earthtagand secure wipermotor
    assembly.
    18. Fully tighten drivetubenutand fitrubber sleeve.
    19. Fitwiper motor multi-plug andearth leadtotag
    on motor retaining strap.
    20. Before fittingfascia panels, fitwiper blades,
    reconnect batteryandtestwiper operation.
    21. Refit fascia panels, notingthatairconditioning
    panel mustbelocated andsecured, onLH side,
    with single screw, beforeinstrument panelis
    fitted.
    22. Fitsteering wheel

    Remove 1. Pull wiper armaway fromwindscreen.
    2. Using asmall screwdriver, holdback spring clip
    which retains armtospindle adaptor.
    3. Pull wiper armfrom splined adaptor.
    Refit
    4. Switch wipermotor topark position, withgrub
    screw retaining adaptor,uppermost.
    5. Push armontoadaptor sothat wiper blade is
    just clear ofwindscreen surroundrubber.
    6. Operate wipersand,ifnecessary, adjustposition
    of arms. WINDSCREEN
