Certificate of volatility This is a statement regarding the volatility of customer data stored in memory. It also outlines how to erase secure data from the product. Types of memory Volatile memory The product utilizes volatile memory (64MB on the board and 512MB installed, for a total of 576MB) to store customer data during the printing and copying process. When the product is powered off, this volatile memory is erased. Non-volatile memory The product utilizes non-volatile memory (EEPROM) to store system control data and user preference settings. No customer print or copy data is stored in non-volatile memory. This non-volatile memory can be cleared and restored to factory defaults by performing a Cold Reset or Restore Factory Defaults from the control panel. Hard-disk-drive memory The product contains an internal hard disk drive (40GB or larger) that may retain data after the product is powered off. The product also may contain additional optional compact flash storage, or an external EIO hard disk. Data stored in these devices may be from stored print jobs or third-party solutions. Some of this data can be erased from the control panel of the product, but most must be erased using the Secure Storage Erase features available within HP Web Jetadmin. Safety statements Laser safety The Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has implemented regulations for laser products manufactured since August 1, 1976. Compliance is mandatory for products marketed in the United States. The device is certified as a “Class 1” laser product under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Radiation Performance Standard according to the Radiation Control for Health and Safety Act of 1968.
