     You
    canpreview yourscanned imagesoyou canadjust thescan settings usingthepreview asaguide.
     There
    aretwo types ofpreview available, depending onthe scan mode andselected settings:
     Thumbnail
    preview
     A
    thumbnail previewdisplays yourpreviewed imagesasthumbnails withthescanned imageareaand
     exposure
    automatically selected.
     Normal
    preview
     A
    normal preview displays yourpreviewed imagesintheir entirety soyou canselect thescanned
     image
    areaandother settings manually.

    Resolution Guidelines
     If
    you plan toenlarge ascanned imagesoyou canprint itat alarger size,youmay need toincrease the
     resolution
    fromthedefault resolution setbyEpson Scan.Follow theseguidelines todetermine the
     resolution
    settingyouneed:
     •
    You willenlarge theimage asyou scan it.
     If
    you willenlarge theimage usingEpson Scans TargetSizesetting, youdonot need toincrease the
     Resolution
    setting.

    You willscan theimage atits original sizebutenlarge itlater inan image-editing program.
     Increase
    EpsonScans Resolution settinginyour scan. Increase theresolution bythe same amount
     you
    willincrease theimage sizetoretain ahigh image quality. Forexample, ifthe resolution is300 dpi
     (dots
    perinch) andyouwilldouble theimage sizelater, change theResolution settingto600 dpi.
     •
    You willscan theimage at100% orsmaller size.
     Select
    Epson Scans Resolution settingbasedonhow youwilluse thescanned image:
     •
    Email/view onacomputer screen/post onthe web: 96to150 dpi
     •
    Print/convert toeditable text(OCR): 300dpi
     •
    Fax: 200dpi

    Selecting
    ScanFileSettings
     You
    canselect thelocation, name,andformat ofyour scan fileonthe File Save Settings window. You
     can
    also select various optional settingsthatcontrol howEpson Scanbehaves whenyouscan andsave
     files.
    
    The
    FileSave Settings windowmayappear afteryouclick Scan onthe Epson Scanwindow. Youmay
     also
    beable toaccess thewindow byclicking theicononthe Epson Scanwindow.
     1.
    Doone ofthe following toselect thefolder inwhich youwant tosave yourscanned image:

    Click thebutton forone ofthe displayed folders.

    Click theOther button, clicktheBrowse orChoose button,andselect afolder.

    Ifyou want tochange thedefault nameforyour scanned image,clickEditandselect theoptions you
     want.

    Select thefileformat youwant touse inthe Image Format Typemenu.
     4.
    Ifyour fileformat provides optionalsettings, clicktheOptions buttontoselect them.
     5.
    Choose anyofthe optional settingsyouwant touse byselecting theircheckboxes.
     6.
    Click OK.
     If
    you selected PDForMulti-TIFF asthe Type setting, youseethiswindow afterEpson Scanscans
     your
    document:

    Choose oneofthe following options:

    Ifyou arescanning onlyonepage, clickSave File.
     •
    Ifyou need toscan additional pagesinadocument, clickAddpage .Place additional pageson
     the
    product forscanning, clickScan ,and repeat untilyouhave scanned allthe pages. Whenyou
     are
    finished, clickSave File.

    Ifyou need todelete orreorder thescanned pages,clickEditpage .Delete orreorder thepages
     using
    theicons thatappear onthe bottom ofthe editing window. Whenyouarefinished, clickOK.
     Note:
    Ifyou installed anOCR (Optical Character Recognition) program,youmay seeascreen
     indicating
    theprogram isconverting yourpage totext. Wait untiltheprogram re-scans thepage and
     close
    theprogram, ifnecessary.

    theimage quality. (TheTIFF format isrecommended whenyouneed tomodify orretouch your
     scanned
    image.)
     Multi-TIFF
    (*.tif)
     A
    TIFF fileformat whenmultiple pagesaresaved tothe same file,allowing youtoedit theimages
     using
    acompatible program.
     PDF
    (*.pdf)
     A
    document formatthatisreadable byWindows andOSXsystems usingAdobe Reader, Acrobat, or
     other
    programs. Youcansave multi-page documents inone PDF file.
     PICT
    (*.pct)
     A
    standard imagefileformat formost OSXprograms.
     TIFF
    (*.tif)
     A
    file format created forexchanging databetween manyprograms, suchasgraphic andDTP
     software.

     With
    OSX,you canscan withyour product usinganimage-editing applicationsuchasImage Capture.
     Note:
    WithOSX,inaddition toscanning withImage Capture, youcandownload andinstall Epson Scan
     scanning
    software. EpsonScanprovides additional imageadjustment andphoto correction featuresfor
     enhancing
    scannedimages,andprovides aninterface forTWAIN-compliant OCRscanning software. To
     download
    EpsonScan,visitEpsons driverdownload site(U.S. downloads orCanadian downloads ).

    Open animage editing application, suchasImage Capture.
     2.
    Select yourEpson product fromtheDEVICES orSHARED list,ifnecessary. (Youmayneed to
     hover
    overtheDEVICES orSHARED list,click Show ,and select yourproduct.)
     3.
    Ifyou seetheShow Details button,clickit.
     If
    you arescanning anitem onthe scanner glass,yourproduct beginsapreview scan.
