7-32Troubleshooting Chapter 7 General Problems The MultiPASS has no power. The power cord may not be plugged in securely. ❑Check that the power cord is plugged securely into the unit and into the wall outlet. If the unit is plugged into a power strip, make sure the power strip is plugged in and turned on. The power cord may not be supplying power. ❑Check the power cord by substituting another, or by using a voltmeter to test it for continuity. The MultiPASS will not print reports. The MultiPASS may have the BC-21e Color BJ Cartridge installed, and its black BJ tank may be empty. ❑Replace the black BJ tank (see page 6-22). The MultiPASS may have a BC-22e Photo BJ Cartridge installed. ❑The MultiPASS cannot print reports while a BC-22e Photo BJ Cartridge is installed. Replace the BJ cartridge with the BC-21e Color BJ Cartridge or a BC-20 Black BJ Cartridge (see page 6-16). Nothing appears in the LCD display. The power cord may not be plugged in securely. ❑Check that the power cord is plugged securely into the unit and into the wall outlet. If the unit is plugged into a power strip, make sure the power strip is plugged in and turned on. If the display remains blank, unplug the MultiPASS, wait five seconds, then plug it in again.
Chapter 7 Troubleshooting7-33 Troubleshooting If the Power Goes Out If power is suddenly lost due to an outage or accidental unplugging, a built-in battery retains the user data settings and the speed dialing settings. However, any sent or received documents stored in memory will be lost. During a power failure, functions are limited as follows: ❑You cannot make telephone calls. ❑You cannot send, receive, or copy documents. ❑You can only use the MultiPASS to receive telephone calls if you connected a telephone or extension phone to your unit. When power is restored to the MultiPASS, the unit will automatically print out a list of documents that were stored in memory at the time of the power failure. If there are one or more documents in the image memory when the power is cut off, the LCD will display PRINTING REPORT when the power is restored. If there is no paper in the multi-purpose tray at this time, the LCD will also display LOAD PAPER. If this happens, load paper in the multi-purpose tray, press the Resume button and wait for the unit to print the Memory Clear Report. ************************************ ************************************ *** ***MEMORY CLEAR REPORT MEMORY FILES DELETED TX/RX NO MODE CONNECTION TEL/ID PGS.
