    About the custom dictionary You can add words to the custom dictionary so that your BlackBerry® device recognizes the word when you check spelling. Because
    SureType®  technology uses the same dictionary, if you are using the SureType input method, words that you add to your custom dictionary are
    displayed in the list that appears when you type.
    Add a word to the custom dictionary 1. On the Home screen, click the  Options icon.
    2. Click  Custom Dictionary .
    3. Press the  Menu key.
    4. Click  New.
    5. Type a word or letter combination.

    About AutoText AutoText is designed to replace specific text that you type with preloaded AutoText entries. If you type text that can be replaced with an AutoText
    entry, the text changes after you press the Space key.
    Your BlackBerry® device has built-in AutoText entries that correct common mistakes. For example, AutoText changes hte to the. You can create
    AutoText entries for your common typing mistakes or for abbreviations. For example, you might create an AutoText entry that replaces ttyl with
    talk to you later.
    Create an AutoText entry 1. On the Home screen or in a folder, click the  Options icon.
    2. Click  AutoText.
    3. Press the  Menu key.
    4. Click  New.
    5. In the  Replace field, type the text to replace.
    6. In the  With field, perform one of the following actions:
    • Type replacement text.
    • To insert a macro (for example, the current date or time), press the  Menu key. Click  Insert Macro .
    7. Perform one of the following actions: • To capitalize the entry exactly as you typed it, set the  Using field to  Specified Case .
    • To capitalize the entry according to the context, set the  Using field to  SmartCase .
    8. Set the language.
    9. Press the  Menu key.
    10. Click  Save.
    Turn off AutoText for SMS text messages 1. On the Home screen or in a folder, click the  Options icon.
    2. Click  SMS.
    3. Set the  Disable AutoText  field to Yes.
    4. Press the  Menu key.

    Delete an AutoText entry 1. On the Home screen or in a folder, click the  Options icon.

    5. Click  Delete.
    Undo an AutoText change Press the  Backspace/Delete  key twice.
    Typing shortcuts Depending on the typing input language that you are using, some shortcuts might not be available.
    • To insert a period, press the  Space key twice. The next letter is capitalized.
    • To capitalize a letter, hold the letter key until the capitalized letter appears.
    • To type an accented character, press and hold the letter key. Click the accented character that appears on the screen.
    • To turn on NUM lock, hold the  123 key until the lock indicator appears on the 123 key. To turn off NUM lock, press the  123 key again.
    • To turn on CAP lock, hold the  Shift key until the lock indicator appears on the Shift key. To turn off CAP lock, press the  Shift key again.
    • To insert an at sign (@) or a period (.) in an email address field, press the  Space key.
    • To type a symbol, press the  Symbol key. To see more symbols, press the  Symbol key again.
    • To edit text that you have typed, click the text. Your  BlackBerry® device displays the editing indicator around the cursor. To move the cursor
    one character at a time, touch the editing indicator and slide your finger.
    • To cut or copy text and paste it into an application, simultaneously touch the screen before and after the text that you want to copy. Click
    the  cut or copy  icon at the bottom of the screen. Place the cursor where you want to insert the cut or copied text. Press the  Menu key.
    Click  Paste .
    • To change the typing input language quickly when you are using your device in landscape view, or in portrait view with the full keyboard,
    click the  globe icon. Click an input language.

    							Typing troubleshooting
    SureType technology does not recognize a word Use the list that appears when you type to help you build words that SureType® technology does not recognize. Press the letter key for the
    first letter in the word once. Highlight a letter in the list. Press the letter key for the next letter in the word once. Highlight a letter combination.
    Click the screen. Continue typing the word.
    I cannot check spelling You can only check the spelling of text that you type. You can check spelling in English, German, Spanish, French, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese,
    Arabic, Danish, Greek, Norwegian, Russian, Swedish, Turkish, Afrikaans, Catalan, Czech, and Hungarian.

    Delete a display language In the setup wizard, complete the instructions on the Language removal screen.
    About typing input languages You can set a typing input language to use when you type. The typing input language can be different from the display language. When you
    set a typing input language, AutoText and other typing options change to the selected language. For example, you might use your
    BlackBerry® device in French, but type messages in English.

    4. Press the  Menu key.

    Set how long backlighting remains on 1. On the Home screen or in a folder, click the  Options icon.

    Stop backlighting from dimming automatically 1. On the Home screen or in a folder, click the  Options icon.

    							About organizing applicationsApplication icons can appear on the Home screen or in a folder on the Home screen. To see more applications, press the  Menu key.
    You can reorder application icons to change which icons appear first on the Home screen. You can also create and delete folders, customize
    the appearance of folders that you create, and move application icons into folders and out of folders.
    Add an application folder 1. On the Home screen, press the  Menu key.
    2. Click  Add Folder .
    3. Type a name for the folder.
    4. To change the folder icon, click the  Icon field. Slide your finger left or right to view the folder icons. Click a folder icon.
    5. Click  Add.
    Change an application folder You can only rename application folders that you create.
    1. On the Home screen, highlight an application folder.
    2. Press the  Menu key.
    3. Click  Edit Folder .
    4. Change the folder information.
    5. Click  Save.
    Move an application icon 1. In the Home screen or in an application folder, highlight an application icon.
    2. Press the  Menu key.
    3. Perform one of the following actions: • To move the application icon to a different location on the Home screen, click  Move. Click the new location.
    • To move the application icon into an application folder, click  Move to folder. Click an application folder.
    • To move the application icon out of an application folder, click  Move to folder. Click Home or an application folder.
    Hide an application icon Depending on your theme, you might not be able to hide some application icons.
    1. On the Home screen, highlight an application icon.
    2. Press the  Menu key.
    3. Click  Hide.
    To view a hidden application, press the  Menu key. Click  Show All.
