Paper Jam Message Stays On
Probable Causes Solutions
Some paper remains jammed in the printer. Recheck the media path and make sure that you have removed 
all of the jammed paper.
Duplex Unit Jams
Probable Causes Solutions
Unsupported media of the wrong size, 
thickness, or type is being used.Use only Xerox-approved media. For details, see 
Supported 
Media . Recheck the media path inside the duplex module and 
make sure that you have removed all of the jammed paper. 
Make sure that you have not mixed media types in the tray. Do 
not print envelopes, labels, extra heavyweight, or gloss paper 2-
sided.

Document Feeder Jams
Probable Causes Solutions
Unsupported media of the wrong size, 
thickness, or type is in use.
Do not use unsupported media. Use only Xerox-approved media. 
See 
Supported Media .
The documents loaded in the document 
feeder exceed the maximum capacity 
allowed. Place fewer documents in the document feeder.
The document feeder guides are improperly 
adjusted. Ensure the media guides fit snugly against the media loaded in 
the document feeder.

Media Misfeeds
Probable Causes Solutions
The media is not correctly positioned in the 
tray.
Remove the misfed media and reposition the media properly in 
the tray. Ensure that the media guides in the tray are set 
correctly.
The number of sheets in the tray exceeds 
themaximum capacity allowed. Remove the excess paper and load paper below the fill line.
The media guides are not correctly adjusted 
to the media size. Adjust the media guides in the tray to match the size of the 
media.
Unsupported media of the wrong size, 
thickness, or type is in use. Do not use unsupported media. Use Xerox-approved media. See 
Supported Media.
Warped or wrinkled media is loaded in the 
tray.
Remove the media, smooth it out, and reload it. If it still misfeeds,
do not use that media.
The media is moist from humidity. Remove the moist media and replace it with new, dry media.
Envelopes are facing the wrong way in Tray 5 
(Bypass Tray). Load the envelopes facedown in Tray 5 (Bypass Tray) with the 
flaps closed, on the leading edge.
The label sheet is facing the wrong way in 
the tray.
Load the label sheets according to the manufacturer’s 
instructions.

Clearing Staple Jams
Clearing Staple jams in the Advanced Finisher or Professional Finisher
WARNING:
Do not perform this procedure when the printer is copying or printing.
Open the finisher front door.
1.
The stapler is located inside the finisher cabinet. Pull the stapler tow\
ard you until it stops.
2.
Push the stapler to the right.
3.
Grip the staple cartridge by the orange handle and remove it by pulling \
it firmly toward you.
4.
Check inside the finisher for any loose staples and remove them.

Open the staple cartridge clamp by pulling firmly in the direction shown\
.
6.
WARNING:
The points of the jammed staples are sharp. Remove the jammed staples ca\
refully.
Remove the jammed staples (1), then push the clamp in the direction sh\
own until it snaps into the locked 
position (2).
7.
Grip the staple cartridge by the orange handle and insert it into the st\
apler until it clicks into place.
8.
Close the finisher front door.

Clearing Staple Jams in the Standard Finisher
WARNING:
Do not perform this procedure when the printer is copying or printing.
Open the finisher front door.
1.
Pull the staple cartridge straight out of the machine.
2.
Check the inside of the finisher for any loose staples and remove them.

Open the staple cartridge cover and remove the jammed staple. If the jam\
med staple cannot be removed, 
push the staple in the direction indicated by arrow.
4.
Return the staple cartridge to its original position until it clicks int\
o place.
5.
Close the Finisher Front Door.

Clearing Booklet Maker Staple Jams in the Booklet Maker Finisher
WARNING:
Do not perform this procedure when the printer is copying or printing.
The booklet maker stapler uses two staple cartridges labeled R2 and R3. \
Booklet stapling requires that both staple 
cartridges be free of jammed staples.
Open the Finisher Front Door.
1.
Pinch the levers on the Booklet Maker Staple Unit, then extend the unit \
to access the Booklet Maker Staple 
Cartridges.

Hold the tabs of the Booklet Maker Staple Cartridge, and then lift to re\
move it.
3.
WARNING:
The points of the jammed staples are sharp. Remove the jammed staples ca\

Grip the orange tabs on both sides of the staple cartridge and insert it\
 into the original position in the 
stapler.
5.
If no jammed staples were found, repeat steps 3 to 5 for the other stapl\
e cartridge.
6.
Return the Booklet Maker Staple Unit to its original position.
7. Note:
If you have trouble inserting the cartridge, make sure the cartridge is \
oriented with the orange tabs facing 
up.
Close the Finisher Front Door.
