User Guide3-1 Storage and Handling of Paper and Media Storing paper stock Paper Store in a low humidity area. Damp paper may cause paper jams or poor im\ age quality. • Do not open reams of paper until they are required for use. The ream wra\ pper contains an inner lining that • protects the paper from moisture. Store on a flat surface to prevent the paper stock from folding or curli\ ng. • Stack reams of paper carefully on top of one another to avoid crushing t\ he edges. Do not stack more than five • reams on top of each other. It is important for optimum printing that paper stock is storedcorrectly\ . Take note of the following when storing paper stock: The User Interface (UI) screens shown in this guide may or may not ref\ lect the screens displayed on your copier/printer. The UI screens vary from system to system and from marketplace to market\ place. Therefore, the screens provided in this guide are a representation of the type of screens that may be seen \ on your particular system. User Guide 3-2 Paper Xerox 700 Di gital Color Press The paper supply screen shows all the trays and the confirmed size and type of stock loaded in each tray. A user can select which tray to use from this list. The chosen tray is highlighted in blue. If the auto tray switching feature has been enabled by your System Administrator and the same size and type of stock is loaded in another tray, the machine will automatically switch from one tray to the other when stock in the active tray runs out. 1.2.31.2.32.2.1.1. The Auto Paper feature automatically selects the appropriate paper size for each document based on the size of the document and any directly selected magnification ratios. Select the More... button. For problem free printing and copying, observe the following when loadin\ g paper stock into the paper trays: Do not use folded or wrinkled papers. • Do not load papers of varied sizes into the tray. • Fan transparencies and shuffle labels before loading to prevent jamming \ or multi-sheet feeding. • Fanning of paper edges is not required, but may be beneficial with certa\ in stocks in dry environments. • Downloaded From ManualsPrinter.com Manuals
User Guide3-3 Paper Xerox 700 Digital Color Press If you are using a variety of paper stocks, it is important to change th\ e Image Quality settings for specific paper you may be using. Access the Image Quality settings for Paper via the follow\ ing path: Control Panel - Press the Log In/Out button. • System Administrator Login Screen - Input Password and select Enter. • System Administrator Menu - Select Machine Status button and select the \ Tools tab. • System Settings screen - Select System Settings. • System Settings screen - Select Common Settings. • Common Settings screen - Select Paper Tray Settings. • Paper trays Tray 1, Tray 2, and Tray 3 Your machine feeds stock from the following trays: Trays 1, 2, and 3 • Bypass Tray • Optional High Capacity Feeder • Optional Oversized High Capacity Feeder (1- or 2-drawer) • Trays 1, 2, and 3 are identical. Each tray has a capacity of 550 sheets \ of 20 lb./75 gsm paper. The trays are pulled out by the operator for loadin\ g. The trays accommodate paper from 18 lb./64 gsm bond to 110 lb./300 gsm cover and are fully adjustable for all stock sizes in the range 5.5 \ x 8.5 in./A5 to 13 x 19.2 in./SRA3/330 x 488 mm. These trays cannot be used for envelopes or tabbed stock. Stock can be loaded either long or short edge feed (portrait or landsca\ pe). Load pre-formatted paper, letterhead, and pre-printed stock face down and with the top towards the front of the machine. Load punched paper with the holes on the leading (left) edge. User Guide 3-4 Paper Xerox 700 Di gital Color Press The Bypass Tray is a paper tray on the left hand side of your machine. It can be folded away when not in use. It is primarily intended for use as a small quantity, special materials feeder and accommodates stock of all types. Stock can be loaded either long or short edge feed (portrait or landscape). The Bypass Tray accommodates all types of stock in a range of sizes betw\ een 4.0 x 6.0 in./101.6 x 152.4 mm and 13 x 19.2 in./SRA3/330 x 488 mm, and has a capacity of approximately 250 shee\ ts of 20 lb./75 gsm paper or a maximum stack height of 0.4 in./10.16 mm. Hole punched paper should be loaded with the holes on the leading (righ\ t) edge. Tabbed stock should be loaded with the tabs on the trailing (left) edg\ e. The Bypass Tray is only 13 in./330.2 mm wide, so some paper sizes must be Short Edge Feed (SEF). Note When lowered, the Bypass Tray can be extended to support longer length s\ tock. User Guide3-5 Paper Xerox 700 Digital Color Press The High Capacity Feeder can hold paper of weights between 18 lb./64gsm bond to 80 lb./220 gsm cover, and can hold a maximum of 2000 sheets of 20lb./75 gsm paper. Stock can only be loaded LEF. After stock is loaded into the High Capacity Feeder, a pop-up window may appear asking you to change or confirm the type and size of the stock. The tray may not be ready for use until you change or confirm the size and type of stock. Your machine also alerts you if the High Capacity Feeder is selected for\ a print job where the stock selected does not match the stock currently loaded. It also warns you if the Feeder runs out of stock during a job. The optional High Capacity Feeder is primarily intended for use as a large quantity feeder and accommodates 8.5 x 11 in./A4 Long Edge Feed (LEF) stock. This feature may be enabled/disabled by the System Administrator. Note Alternatively, you can change the paper size and paper type by accessing\ the Paper Tray Attributes screen from the System Administrator Menu. User Guide 3-6 Paper Xerox 700 Di gital Color Press The optional Oversized High Capacity Feeder (OHCF) provides an alternative to the \ HCF. The OHCF feeds oversized stock up to 13 x 19 in./SRA3/330 x 488 mm paper, 18 lb./64 gsm bond to 1\ 10 lb./300 gsm cover stock. Each drawer holds 2000 sheets. The OHCF can be either a 1-drawer or a 2-drawer Feeder. After stock is loaded into the Oversized High Capacity Feeder, a pop-up \ window may appear asking you to change or confirm the type and size of the stock. The tray may not be ready for us\ e until you change or confirm the size and type of stock. Your machine also alerts you if the Oversized High Capacity Feeder is se\ lected for a print job where the stock selected does not match the stock currently loaded. User Guide3-7 Paper Xerox 700 Digital Color Press Tray 8 (Post-Process Inserter; also called Interposer) Tray 8 (Post-Process Inserter) is standard on this finisher and is use\ d to load paper that will be used as separators and covers. Tray 8 holds a maximum of 200 sheets. Paper size: Maximum: A3/11 × 17 in. • Minimum: B5 LEF • The machine does not copy or print on paper loaded in Tray 8. The following procedure shows you how to load Tray 1 with 8.5 x 11 in./A\ 4 paper. A paper jam may occur if a tray is opened while it is being used to feed\ stock. CAUTION Slowly pull out the tray towards you until it stops. The paper or media must not be loaded above the maximum fill line. The Paper Size options allow you to specify the size of the paper you load into the paper tray. The Auto Size Detect option allows standard sized paper loaded in the trays to be automatically detected by the machine. If enabled by your System Administrator, the Paper Tray settings screen may be displayed on the touch screen. Select the Change Settings button if changes have been made to the paper tray; otherwise, press Confirm. 8 7 9 To position the front and rear guides, squeeze the clamp mechanism and slide the guide to touch the edge of the stock. To position the right side guide, squeeze the clamp mechanism and slide the guide to touch the edge of the stock. Move the front and rear guides to just touch the edges of the stack. These profile settings cover a broad range of paper variables, image coverage, and environmental factors. If the System Default setting is not correcting curl, then you can use one of the Decurler Paper Type A - C settings. For example: If the System Default is not correcting curl, select Decurler Paper Type\ A. • If Decurler Paper Type A is not correcting curl, select Decurler Paper T\ ype B. • If Decurler Paper Type B is not correcting curl, select Decurler Paper T\ ype C. • SaveTray 1CancelPaper Size 8.0 8.0 (7.2 - 17.0) (7.2 - 17.0) X Y Select the Paper Size and select the Custom Size button. The Custom Size screen allows you to specify the exact size of the paper you load into the paper tray. You can use the arrow buttons on the touch screen to change the X and Y dimension values for the paper you load.
